Set deep in the woods along the shoreline of Craig Pond, the site offers a rare level of seclusion with no nearby neighbors and direct access to the water. Guests can relax on the private granite rock beach, swim, fish, kayak, or simply enjoy the sounds of nature from camp.
The property includes a handcrafted log-cabin-style lean-to and a newly built 6’x6’ composting toilet outhouse nearby. It also includes your own canoe to use during your stay. While intentionally simple and off-grid, the experience is centered around the natural beauty of the land, water, and surrounding forest. Expect peaceful mornings, dark night skies, and a true unplugged retreat in the Maine wilderness.
Guest access Guest access to The Outback is part of the adventure. Guests may either hike approximately 3/4 of a mile along wooded camp trails to reach the lean-to, or paddle along Craig Pond using the canoe provided with the reservation. Canoe access begins from the main campground area and offers a scenic approach directly to the site by water.
Due to the secluded nature of the property, there is no direct vehicle access to the lean-to. Guests should plan to pack accordingly and be comfortable with a short hike or paddle to camp.
