About this property

Lake Wateree Retreat,Private Dock, Fire Pit,Kayaks,Sunset glow views, sleeps 6

Enjoy a tranquil Lake Wateree vacation staying at this private waterfront retreat, where golden evening light reflects across the water and twilight is best spent around the fire pit, dining on the elevated covered deck, or just relaxing, while overlooking the beautiful lake vista. Spend your days on the water, fishing off the dock, swimming or kayaking, or should you prefer, lounging in the backyard, playing a game of corn hole, and watching the ospreys, ducks, geese, and of course, the herons that inspired our retreats name. A thoughtfully furnished 2 bedroom, 2 bath home, featuring a king bed in the primary, and queen bed in the guest bedroom, and a trundle sofa/bed in the sunroom that provides a wonderful lake view from indoors, and a comfortable bed for 2 kids or adults. There’s even a folding twin bed available should an additional bed be needed. This home and property is ideal for couples, families, fishing trips, and quiet lake escapes. It has a fully equipped kitchen with new major appliances, granite countertops, an open space concept into the living room, that has a 65” smart tv for entertainment, and WiFi/internet. There are also smart TVs in both of the bedrooms. For guests safety and property protection, exterior security cameras monitor the driveway and parking, front entrance, backyard, dock, and private boat ramp areas. No cameras are located in the home or sitting areas on the covered deck. The dock has an attached floating dock for boat tie ups, water and electricity available on the dock for rinsing off the boats and recharging trolling motor batteries. The pier to the dock extends 80’ for access to deeper water. The fire pit has comfortable Adirondack chairs and a propane stove for those chilly late afternoons and evenings. Although the sun sets behind the trees, the glow on the water and clouds provide showy displays of light and color for a peaceful transition between day and night. There’s very little light pollution to interfere with stargazing, so you can enjoy the sky view as well.

The home and property have been in our family for 3 generations. The lot was purchased in 1991 by my parents because they grew up less than 20mi away in Blythewood, and sometimes were able to drive the backroads to the lake to fish on the relatively new lake. After purchasing the property at an auction, they had a seawall installed, back filled to raise the elevation, then relocated the mobile home that belonged to my wife and I, which was located on family property in Blythewood. We had moved into my grandmother’s home after she passed, so it was available. My father had decided to have a roof built over the entire trailer and big enough to cover a large back deck. He added a sunroom addition soon after. When I inherited the property 2 years ago, I decided to use it for a rental, upgraded the interior, removed and replaced the outside wood ramps and steps, and had a new dock built. We hope you enjoy it as much as our family does.

Why they chose this property

It’s generally a very peaceful, quiet location, especially in the afternoons and evenings, and has all the benefits of both being in a protective cove, yet with the vista of the main channel water.

What makes this property unique

The elevated back deck allows a more panoramic view of the lake, and all the waterfowl, especially during the seasonal migratory period, when the birds gather in the cove, away from the main channel.
