About the host

David and Cyndi are retired now after long careers in the field of disability supports and education. They have lived right next to this property for over 40 years. David has created all the beautiful hiking trails you will see. The Creek House is truly a special place, and we are delighted to share it with others who will enjoy it as much as our family does!

Why they chose this property

Nestled against the Jefferson National Forest, the Creek House provides quiet and privacy in a truly beautiful woodland setting. All sorts of animals and birds share these woods. In the spring, the woods are full of mountain laurel, rhododendron, dogwood, redbuds, and flame azaleas. The setting feels truly remote, but the road on which the property is located goes straight to Main Street in Blacksburg - only a 15 minute drive. David and Cyndi have a garden on the property.

What makes this property unique

In addition to beauty and quiet, mossy hiking trails created by David weave through the property, along the creek, and up into the National Forest. The huge screen porch is another very special feature, a delightful place for a morning cup of coffee, a chat among friends, or a meal outside. When the creek is high, the sound is so relaxing and sitting out on the decks watching the water is lovely. There is a large open field in front of the house, and cots are available on request for star gazing. All of this such a short distance from Blacksburg!
