Sunny, car-free location, hiking right from your doorstep

Our holiday apartments are located not far from Lake Maggiore in Italy, 11 km from Cannobio and the lake in the Cannobina Valley. Wildly romantic—Italian, Mediterranean, and Alpine all at once—just across the Swiss border in the Italian region of Piedmont. Locarno, Ascona, and Milan are within easy reach. The cosy houses, with their sunny south-facing locations and magnificent mountain views, are car-free and situated along an ancient stone path at an elevation of 700 metres. Far from mass tourism, this is the perfect place for low-impact tourism and sustainable holidays. One house accommodates 2 people; another accommodates up to 5–6 people. You can also book both houses together. We can accommodate up to 4 additional guests in holiday apartments managed by us in the immediate area here in Durone.

In addition to many hikes that require no drive—starting right from your doorstep, so to speak—the house invites you to linger, take in the views, savour the moment, and relax. Our village of Falmenta–Durone is hundreds of years old and characterised by old stone houses, palm trees, chestnut trees, and fig trees. Durone is car-free and accessible only on foot. The Val Grande, the largest nature reserve in the Alps, can also be explored on foot from here
