Hills Haven is located in a gorgeous picturesque cottage area in Minden Hills. It is the perfect spot for relaxation and immersing yourself in nature! We do ask that our guests respect our neighbour’s peace and privacy by following quiet time after 11pm. There is a driveway with enough parking for 4 cars. During winter months, the roads leading up to the driveway and the driveway will be plowed - however, we highly recommend winter tires. Guests are welcome to park their boats, ATVs, and snowmobiles at the property. For more info on closeby boat launches and snowmobile trails, please visit the town of Minden website. In the summer months, we ask that our guests consider quiet time from 11pm-7am to be respectful to our neighbors as sound travels on the water. In the winter months, the cottage is extremely private as the cottages surrounding the Haven are seasonal and our neighbors do leave for the winter season. We have installed a brand new UV Filtration System, so no need to worry about bringing water with you! The tap water is safe to drink and cook with. If you prefer bottled water, is it available at any of the convenience stores close-by in Kinmount. Firewood is not included so please remember to pick up some firewood for your stay! There is firewood available for purchase at the the Shop n' Save in Kinmount on the way to the cottage. There is WIFI and a Smart TV at the cottage. Our Starlink internet connection is high speed and provides the perfect opportunity to work from the cottage. In the summer months, please make sure to bring along bug spray as the mosquitos and critters like to enjoy the cottage too! Firepit: please keep in mind that outdoor fires are only permitted in the summer at night from 7pm - 7am. Day burning is prohibited. This applies from April 1st to October 31st. Pet Friendly - We are animal lovers and welcome you to bring your furry family members! The cottage is not fenced in, so please take care and keep an eye on your pets! Please note that the water can only be accessed from the floating dock - there is no beach area or entry/exit point for pets to swim in the river. They are more than welcome to swim but would need to jump in off the dock and be lifted back out of the water. Hills Haven is family and child friendly, but please keep a close eye on your kiddies around the river and hot tub! If you are bringing small children please be advised that you will need to bring your own travel crib and high chair. WINTER STAYS: - The cottage is located in an area with lots of wildlife and friends. It is recommended to not leave any food on the counters overnight as this can attract critters. You will notice sound devices plugged in throughout the cottage to deter critters - the sound should not be detectable for yourself or your pets. It is recommended to leave these plugged in for the majority of your stay. - Stays in the colder months are less frequent, so we have provided the correct chemical to keep the hot tub squeaky clean for you. Our cleaners always balance the hot tub, however in the event that no one has been at the cottage for a few days, we recommend adding the chemical to the hot tub at the beginning of your stay and after each use. You will receive a mobile guide before your stay with easy-to-follow instructions and we are available if you have any questions! - During winter months, the river is off limits. Do not try to walk on the ice as the river is flowing and it is not safe to do so. Simply enjoy the view! There is a driveway with enough parking for 4 cars. During winter months, the roads leading up to the driveway and the driveway will be plowed - however, we highly recommend winter tires as the road leading to the cottage is long and does have many hills. We are not liable for roadside assistance or related issues caused by vehicles or tires that are not suitable for winter conditions (snow or ice). Guests are welcome to park their boats, ATVs, and snowmobiles at the property. For more info on nearby boat launches and snowmobile trails, please visit the town of Minden website. We can't wait to host you and show you all that this riverfront paradise has to offer!

A perfect getaway! Close to the nature, quaint but still very fun with a nice hot tub right there. Amber was amazing with her communication throughout, starting with the reservation itself. Looking forward to our next visit already :)
Hills Haven is such a relaxing getaway. Great view of the river. Lovely deck and sun room. Everything you need is provided. Very quiet location. Check out Furnace Falls very close to the cottage. Beautiful spot.
We had an amazing stay! The cottage has everything you need. The property is very clean and nice, we loved the hot tub! We absolutely loved it overall and are already booking our next getaway here!

Wonderful stay for our Honeymoon. Amber made sure the cottage was well appointed and answered all our questions promptly. The hot tub was a welcome relief after a day of hiking, sightseeing or kayaking. Location was ideal to access so many amenities in the region.

We had a wonderful few days at Hills Haven for our honeymoon! We enjoyed lazing about, playing games, having a nice camp fire and taking the canoe out on the river. The hosts were amazing to deal with and the accommodations were super comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and cooking was a joy!

Nice little cottage on a beautiful river. Took my 14 year old son for a trip here. Used the kayaks, hot tub and fished on the river. Had a great time. Would definitely book again.
My wife and I along with our dog stayed for a very relaxing and quiet week. Many location ideas were given to visit and enjoy food and drink. We were not diaappointed, the river in front is great for swimming off the floating dock or a leisurely kayak ride. The firepit and hot tub was the perfect way to end the day. Our dog was a happy camper.

Hi Frank! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this great review! We really appreciate it and are so glad you enjoyed your stay!
Very nice and clean cottage. Really nice river, we wish we had more time to explore. If you go down river look for the gate keeper at the portage head lol, very clever.
Beautiful large property with plenty of privacy, very little road, and water, traffic. Lots of different types of space to enjoy. Very well stocked with everything we need, and bonus a/c, internet tv, and ev charger. We hope to get back when it's a little cooler, and we can enjoy the hot tub.

Hi Cathy! Thank you so much taking the time to leave this kind review! We would love to host you again! So glad you enjoyed your stay :)
We had a lovely stay at this well-equipped cottage! From the moment we arrived, everything was set up for a relaxing and comfortable getaway. The hot tub was a definite highlight — so much fun and the perfect way to unwind. The cottage had everything we needed, with clean, fresh bedding, towels, and even extra blankets thoughtfully scattered around. The internet was fast and reliable, which was a pleasant surprise in such a peaceful, remote-feeling spot. Our dog absolutely loved it too — I’m pretty sure he didn’t want to leave! It really felt like a home away from home. We’d happily come back for another stay.
Absolutely wonderful ! My husband and I, along with our 2 dogs wanted to go away alone for a few days over the holidays. We had complete privacy, with a wonderful view of the river. The cottage and grounds were very quiet and peaceful. The hosts left a very thoughtful welcome gift, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Very well equipped kitchen and bathroom was clean and well stocked. The bed and linen clean and crisp.
I would highly recommend this sweet cottage.

Hi Donna - thank you so much for taking the time to write this kind review! We loved hosting you and hope to see you again soon!
My partner and I greatly enjoyed our staycation at the Hills Haven. Amber and Andrew were very accommodating and responsive hosts. They have put thought into every little detail from the layout, decorations, accessories, equipped kitchen, guest book and welcoming gift, furniture, the use of every space, and giving guests access to things like the hot tub, fireplace and kayaks. The cottage was so comfortable, and it was exactly what my partner and I needed for a staycation. We enjoyed exploring Minden- going for dinner at the Rhubarb restaurant, and enjoying an afternoon at the Boshkung Brewing Social. We enjoyed every minute, and will not hesitate to come back one day!

Hi Erica - thank you so much for taking the time to leave this wonderful review! We loved hosting you and are so glad that you had a great time at the Haven! We hope to see you again soon!
This was the perfect cottage getaway for our Mini Moon!! The cottage was super clean, cozy and had lots to do! We enjoyed the hottub, took the kayaks out on the river and cozied up by the fire and played games. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals up there which was great. We brought our dog and she loved it too - lots of wooded trails nearby to take her for walks and she loved chasing all the chipmunks and frogs running around. The hosts also left us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our recent marriage which was so kind of them! This cottage also has the bonus of all the super cute decor and was very aesthetically pleasing if you’re into taking cute cottage pics! The cheetah print chair was my personal fave :) we may just have to make Hills Haven our anniversary getaway spot from now on! 2 notes for future guests - bring something with you to roast s’mores on the fire if that’s you’re plan, and the hot tub took a bit of time to get as hot as we wanted so maybe start it up a few minutes before you plan on going in.
We had a relaxing week with our dog. It was very clean and comfortable for two people. The bedrooms are small and could use some clothing hooks as the bureau drawers weren’t sufficient. We ended up using the second bedroom to store our luggage. The kitchen was exceptionally stocked (possibly the best kitchen setup I’ve ever encountered at a vacation rental) and able to support all our cooking needs. The BBQ is old but worked well enough. There are two holes in the deck that we were notified about before arriving. We moved the picnic table over to cover one so we wouldn’t trip. We enjoyed using the small hot tub, two kayaks & fire pit. The ramp down to the floating dock is precarious and a handrail would have been appreciated. The dock is small and very floaty. The cottage is on a river and there are neighbours directly across within conversational distance. You may not get that impression from the photos. The river is quiet and the swimming decent. We visited Minden and Balsam Lake dog beach during our stay. The internet is excellent. It’s a really cute place to chill.
Amazing space, you'll have everything you'd need and the screened porch definitely helped to enjoy the outdoors space while being safe of mosquitos with our 20months old. I'd definitely recommend the space,The river offers a smooth paddle up and down, saw a few deers around as it was pretty quiet around us.
