About the host

Host profile image
An Army brat transplant primarily from the D.C. area, I've lived in the Suncoast area for most of my adult life. The changes in this region in the past 40 years have been astounding, as were the ones in those prior. My great-grandparents moved to Dunedin in the 60's, so I've been visiting for virtually my entire life.

My interests are:
Permaculture, which if you're not familiar, is intentional, organic, native and systemic design. Think: "Native plants", composting, and rainbarrels. I also create artful stuff from junk: Upcycling.
Pets: I have 2 dogs and 2 cats - they are my family, since the humans are far away. I know every park within a 20 mile (or more) radius of Tarpon Springs, because we like to walk in nature.
Books: I am a writer - books are the tangible, non-living embodiments of imagination, therefore I share some recent finds and classics with you during your stay. There are several libraries within 1-5 miles of the Holiday property as well.

Why they chose this property

This property is close to everything - a short walk to amenities such as groceries, restaurants, pharmacy, pet store, etc., and a short drive to beaches, parks, Tarpon Springs, Dunedin ("Dog-Eden"), Clearwater Beach, and quaint yet quirky Safety Harbor - all well-known and well attended with weekend events.

What makes this property unique

My philosophy is to exist in harmony with nature, and the only way to do that, environmentally speaking, is to nurture a landscape which is free of human inputs as possible. This property is a food forest in-progress, because such things take time - as it transforms, more lush vegetation will abound. In the meantime, it is naturally lit during daylight hours, very clean and cool tile throughout, and has a very "Florida" vibe.

For those interested in permaculture or the process of designing a landscape ecosystem, the opportunities are welcomed and encouraged!
