I am a retired post-secondary educational administrator and a Colorado Master Gardener. I have always loved the outdoors and spent many a mile in my hiking boots in the mountains, camping, exploring, and just losing myself in the rythym of nature, her sounds, smells, sights, and tactile experiences. I had an opportunity to travel to the north shore of Oahu to a place called Pat's at Punaluu. It was here where nature grabbed my soul. I think for the very first time I actually relaxed, truly relaxed. As a single parent and grandparent building a professional career, raising a child, and maintaining a home kept me busy. When I retired early I thought I would have more time to relax, but I continued to make myself busy and wondered how I ever had time to work. Maybe being busy is just in my nature. What I discovered in Hawaii is that I had never learned to relax. The swaying palm trees, ocean whispers, and the sweet breezes lured me to it's sandy beaches, and the warm waters of the ocean literally cradled and rocked me like a baby.

Why they chose this property

The short time I spent in Hawaii was so exhilarating and literally spoke to my soul. A simple drive down the road is like being and living inside a botanical garden. I marveled at the plant life, large trees in beautiful blooms of all colors, all the shades of blues and greens in the ocean, swaying palm trees dot the beach to the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean, the incredible geography, and the beautiful sunrises and moonrises. When it was time to leave I discovered that it was the only place I had ever been that I didn't want to go home. I can't say I have traveled the world extensively, but I have been to some very interesting places in the USA and abroad. I went home to a house and state that I love. There was just something about Pat's, the people that gather there, children giggling on the beach, moonlight walks where you literally have the entire beach to yourself except for the turtles. Could I buy a condo at Pat's? I didn't really think so. But I kept hearing the ocean whisper to me. I explored the options and I came to realize that I could become part of Pat's, I had worked hard all my life, and yes I do deserve my piece of paradise. I made it happen.

What makes this property unique

At Pat's at Punaluu the no public access beach is literally steps from the building, less than 300 feet to the beach. The sun rises over the ocean, on the other side of the building - mountains and sunsets. One of the largest lanais at Pat's, you will enjoy a variety of seating choices and relax with ample room for everyone. The partially covered lanai provides privacy. Be sure and catch the moonrise from the lanai too, incredible. It's not just a bed in the living area and a narrow outdoor space, it's a home that doesn't feel like a hotel. With fully equipped kitchen you'll find basic spices and olive oil are provided to get you started. A K-cup (or grounds) brewer with coffee and tea, sugar, sweetener, and creamer start your morning, wander to the lanai to breath in Hawaii at it's finest and enjoy the incredible view. A king size murphy bed is being custom built, in the meantime the king bed is in the living room so you can still enjoy the sounds of the waves and the delicious breezes. You will want to sleep there in front of the screened patio door, the most desirable place to sleep. The living room provides seating for 5, with table and chairs for 4. The beds, linens, and pillows are all new. A full size dresser and closet, a place to stash your suitcases, and a new LG washer/dryer with large capacity are convenient. Laundry soap and dryer sheets are provided. The full bath is roomy with tub and shower, you will be provided with ample towels and washcloths, hand soap, body wash, shampoo/conditioner. Two new large screen TVs with cable and internet for the Living Room and Bedroom give you all you need. And the people at Pat's make it a special place. People are happy, vacationers and those who live here full or part time. At Pat's, it's a community, it's family, it's 'ohano in it's truest sense.
