Beautiful place! Access to palddle boat made it fun to get out on the lake. Close to lots of sites in Bellingham and Vancouver, BC. Contact with host was excellent, but we also had privacy. Would revisit in a heartbeat!

We're so happy you enjoyed your stay! You were a fabulous guest and we'd welcome you back anytime :)
The house was perfect. Well-equipped with everything you could want. And the location is so lovely -right on the lake with a dock to sit on when the sun came out
This property was great for our family, lots and lots of water toys and kayaks and a game room!
There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms.
The kitchen was well stocked and the views of the lake were gorgeous.
We saw eagles and the birdsongs were enchanting.
Our son, daughter and 4 grandchildren had a great time, as did us grandfolks. There is a small beach area on a shallow part of the lake which was ideal for small children, and a floating dock with ladder for the grown-ups. Also, there was a nearby kid-friendly trail up a shallow wooded slope. We hope we can do this again next year.
We booked a couple days before arrival with no issues. The kitchen is well-equipped with a view of the lake while cooking. The spacious house had great spaces for relaxing for our family.
A wonderful experience to walk out the door and hop onto the paddleboard.
My family would book again.
Please note there are a lot of levels and stairs to get around the property… for those with any mobility concerns.
The pictures do not do this place justice. It is much bigger than it looks. Nice location and very quiet and peaceful. Short drive to Bellingham for a college town experience and close to some great day hikes with our dog. The nearest grocery store/country market is quite expensive and would recommend going to Bellingham for your groceries. We enjoyed our short staycation and would recommend to others without hesitation!
Fun stay at a beautiful lake house. Plenty of room for our extended family and guests. This house has everythingvyou need including a play area outfitted for the kids. Everyone enjoyed the selection of water toys for the lake!
Wonderful experience overall! Kitchen staples were readily available which was a wonderful surprise. The location in quiet and magical - we watched deer graze from the window :)
We enjoyed the location of the house, right on a lake with a beautiful view. The house was large enough for our family to have a comfortable relaxing vacation!
We really felt like we lucked out to find this little slice of heaven on the lake! Three of us went to Mountain Bike clinics during the day, and the rest of our friends did their own mountain biking at Galbraith, and it was great to end the day at the lake. My dog loves standing like a sentinel at the front of the paddle boards we brought. It was really helpful having the downstairs shower and baskets of towels everywhere.
We had everything we needed and had a fantastic weekend!
We loved our time at this home! It has been really nicely updated, and is very kid- and pet-friendly. Although the weather was chilly, our kids still had so much fun taking the water toys out on Cain Lake. It's an easy 15-minute drive to Bellingham along beautiful roads. We cooked almost all of our meals in the nicely-appointed kitchen (with a fun space-age oven!). When we were indoors, there were plenty of toys and books to keep the kids entertained.
We had such a comfortable stay in this home, and would love to visit again in the future.
We were looking for a relaxing weekend for our family and that is just what we found. We enjoyed being together by the fireplace, shooting some pool, playing board games and just relaxing watching the rain on the lake. We didn't let the weather slow us down though. Took the kayaks out on the lake and found areas to hike in nearby. The location was quiet and restorative.
The large home made it possible to spread out and provided plenty of space.
Great location just south of Bellingham and would love to return in the summer.
Enjoyed a relaxing with immediate family. Despite the on and off showers we loved kayaking, fishing and just hanging outside appreciating the view. Due to covid all meals were prepared in the kitchen including our traditional Thanksgiving meal.
Home away from home! Cozy and comfortable home away from home for our working vacation. We enjoyed our time in this spacious house with lots of room for everyone.
My family and I stayed here for a week and really enjoyed ourselves. The house was great and the lake was very enjoyable. The house had plenty of space for our party of 6 and an added bonus with the game room (pool table and bar). We all really enjoyed eating our meals with the amazing view of the lake from the wall of windows in the dining room. Elana (the owner) was awesome and very accommodating and great with communicating any concerns and or question I had. We will definitely be back for future stays.
We enjoyed this tucked away piece of heaven. A large house with upgrades and a lot of stairs. Well stocked kitchen. The dock is a great place to watch people come and go off the lake, bald eagles and fish! We would recommend this place for any and all.
Lovely spacious home right on the lake! Enjoyed the use of the paddle boat, paddle board and kayaks. Great for families, cozy home away from home.

Everything we wanted and more
My first HomeAway experience renting a home, and everything was prefect. The owners are amazing, attentive and great to work with in preparing our vacation, and answering all of our questions.
We spent the week at this beautiful home on the lake, and it was everything we were hoping for and more. Peaceful, relaxing, and plenty of room for everyone. The views from every room are amazing. We spent a lot of time relaxing in the outdoor space, just watching the dog and the kids play in the water. We all enjoyed the water toys and playing on the lake. We fished off the dock, and truly enjoyed good, family time together. We were sad to go home at the end of our time. .. We'll be going back every summer.

Relaxing getaway
This house is perfect for a family of all ages. It comes equipped with things for baby/toddler, along with board games, books and video games for the older kids as well as adults. The living area is very nice with room for at least 5 to sit comfortably, watch Netflix or movie from the owners large collection. The kitchen comes stocked with most things you would need to create a nice meal. I made many dinners in that kitchen and took advantage of the gas grill on the porch as well. The house is fairly large, it has a lot of stairs inside and outside, which I was at first blown away by. Not used to that many stairs and I have a two story home. Overall, it’s pretty cool, has a playhouse feel. The pool table room is nice, roomy and offers more storage for cold drinks, food, etc. The bathrooms are a decent size, as well as the bedrooms. You could just stay inside and rest easy, remain entertained if you wish, or take advantage of the many toys for the water out in the garage. There are floaties to use but the family and I preferred the kayaks, paddle boarding, and the peddle boat.
The lake is calm, fairly shallow by the house but deep enough for any floatation device and/or toy provided. Water gets deeper of course, the further out you go, and is perfect for fishing. If you take out the kayak and face the middle of the lake, you might see a fish jumping in and out of the water, or a little bird scooping it’s beak or diving into it. In the morning, there might be a bald eagle circling above the lake, as you sit at the dining table with your breakfast and/or coffee. It is nature at its finest. The family and I were pretty relaxed, found much fun out there on that lake. We found some neighbors to be pretty entertaining at times with their detachable docks that they’d park in the middle of the lake to dive off of, try catching a fish and just have a good time with whom they’re with. Plenty of room on that lake no matter who is using it. This lakehouse is a true getaway from it all. I can’t put into words just how much I like it. I would book again-stay longer.

About the host
Hosted by Joseph Vaupotic
I grew up an hour from Cain lake and spent summers at my aunt's place (the yellow house across from us). I dreamed of owning this house since I was a little girl and I am so happy to be able to take my kids for a swim and make new memories!
What makes this property unique
The house with three levels reminded us of a playhouse. We fell in love with it immediately. We could envision the pool table, lounging in the living room as the fog clears off the lake in the morning and having breakfast overlooking the water.
