A newly added electric fireplace with shelves houses the 55” smart TV with cable to catch your favorite shows after a day at the beach, golfing, fishing or enjoying the sights of Northern Michigan.
The DINING ROOM is the heart of the home with a breakfast island that opens to the kitchen. It includes an oak dining table which seats up to 10, a china hutch and a large desk which makes this more like a great room than simply a dining area. The sliding glass doors lead to the lovely bistro deck which has a gas grill and a round patio table with umbrella to enjoy an outdoor cookout after a day at the beach. There are two ceiling fans to bring the cool lake breeze into the house.
The KITCHEN was remodeled in 2015 keeping its farmhouse style with dark oak cabinets, butcher block counter tops and a breakfast island. The large porcelain sink and vintage green stove pay tribute to the past while enjoying the modern conveniences of a dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, electric stove and refrigerator with ice maker. The wall air conditioner and ceiling fan keep the kitchen cool while cooking. The mobile island provides additional work space and storage for recycling. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishware, glasses, pots, pans and even a crock pot.

Booked for our annual ice fishing trip to Frankfort. We had 6 guys and the place was plenty big enough for all of us. Nice big kitchen, living room and dining room. Also the location can't be beat, directly behind Stormcloud Brewery and the other restaurants/bars in the area. Would 100% book again and hope to do so for next year as this is the best house we have stayed at in the area.
Denise DeCook was very accommodating to any questions I had and got back to me quickly in emails!
Her home is in the perfect location with a very short walk into town and 3 blocks to the beach which is awesome for families with children. The home is very quaint and is very spacious in the common areas. I would definitely go back here as we have fallen in love with Frankfort, Michigan!

Thank you so much Marguerite for your kind review of Haugen's Haven. Most importantly so glad your family had a great time in my hometown of Frankfort and we could provide our home for you to enjoy.
This was a great home for my family ( 8 adults, 4 children). We had plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed. The front porch was a favorite spot for morning coffee or evening relaxing. The beach only three blocks away was a plus. We had a wonderful week at Haugen’s Haven and would definitely choose it again.

Perfect location to beach and town. Plenty of space. Perfect Porch. House is very well supplied with anything you need. This is our second time vacationing in this home. Five years vacationing in Frankfort
My family had a great time staying here! The house had everything we needed. We all had plenty of space and loved the outdoor areas, especially the spacious front porch. The hosts were incredibly helpful and accommodating. We would definitely love to stay here again in the future!

This is a terrific home that is very close to downtown Frankfort and the waterfront. The hosts were wonderful, very friendly and very easy to work with. This is a great location to enjoy Frankfort and the overall area.
Everything about the rental, location, owners and town was perfect for us. We had 7 adults staying in the house and it was the perfect home for the week. Great kitchen for cooking dinner, big table we could all sit at and a wonderful front porch we enjoyed daily. I highly recommend this place!
You can’t beat the location! Steps to both the beach and downtown. The house set up is great for groups. Lots of areas to hang and chill or all come together! And Denise is super helpful!
This Frankfort home location was key. Walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants. The front porch was our favorite place for morning coffee and evening beverages!!
Wonderful home in downtown Frankfort, just a block from Main Street. Easy access to shops and beach. Perfect location for the entire family. Highly recommended.
We spent the holidays at Denise’s house and it was amazing! Great location, clean, very well stocked, comfortable beds, and wonderful communication with the owner! We would def stay again!
The house was perfect for our family. It was like home away from home. The location is perfect for downtown and the beach. The house was well supplied with everything we needed. Will definitely return if available. Thank you for sharing your home

Wonderful to hear you enjoyed your stay with us at Haugen's Haven. So pleased to know we gave you a home away setting for your Frankfort vacation. Hope to have you back again.
Stayed here with my family and my sisters family. The home was very clean and had everything we needed. The location is awesome especially if you like to walk to town for shopping or dining. We also walked to the beach every day, less than a ten minute walk. Communication with the host was easy and we had no issues. Great value for the home size and location!

Rental Summer 2016
Let me first say this, we have been going to Frankfort for 9 years now, this is our 3rd house (first was sold and second was a last minute find and then we found this wonderful home, Haugen's Haven. Everything is as described, the front porch is the GREATEST, large and very comfortable with seating for 12. There was nothing to need in the kitchen, well stocked with quality utensils and dishes, enough pots, baking dishes, appliances etc. The bathrooms were nicely done and everything worked, there were enough electrical outlets throughout the home. (I am mentioning this because someone asked us if the plumbing was working and how many outlets there were in the home). Water pressure was great. Enough seating for TV watching and eating. Very short walk to the beach, not even a block to downtown. Close to Sleeping Bear and floating on the Platte River, Betsie Beach and Elberta Beach. Everything was clean and tasteful. There were 8 adults and 2 children and we had no problem with showers or baths. There were people renting the back, but could not hear them. I recommend this home to everyone, with 3 days of rain our spirit wasn't dampened because of the accommodations of this gorgeous home. I am renting again. Thank You Haugen's Haven for the best vacation!!

Great location, comfortable accommodations
We really enjoyed our time in Frankfort, due in large part to the terrific location of this property. Being within easy walking distance of all of Frankfort's restaurants, the marina, and the beach really allowed us to relax and enjoy ourselves. It's also a very easy drive to the rest of the region's fantastic outdoor activities, including hiking in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and canoeing the Lower Platte River.
The property was a great fit for our family of four, but certainly could have easily accommodated a few more people. The kitchen is spacious and has plenty of cookware, dishes and flatware. Four of us comfortably showered in the mornings with plenty of hot water. While we benefited from fantastic weather throughout the week (dry, mid-70s during the day and cooler nights), the window AC units in the bedrooms were perfect for cooling off overnight after the two warmer days. And the front porch.... I miss the front porch the most!
Frankfort was quiet the week we visited, so we chose to park on the street, but there was plenty of space behind the house had we chosen to use the private parking area. And while the property owner was on-site in the attached apartment for a couple of nights overlapping our stay, we would not have even known they were in residence had we not bumped into them once during our coming and going from the house while they were doing some yard work.

About the host
Hosted by Denise DeCook
My family has been in Frankfort since the 1870's. My dad was raised in the home, falling in love with the girl across the street. That girl was my Mom, Patricia Raymond who was married to my Dad, Dennis Haugen for 54 years. Today, my husband Ron and I own the home and plan to retire here in the future. We live in East Lansing with our children and also have busy careers which often limit our time in Frankfort. Like my grandparents and parents we enjoy sharing Haugen's Haven with visiting families when we are unable to be in Frankfort.
Why they chose this property
The location and features of Haugen's Haven make this the ideal spot for a family vacation with the grandparents, siblings and young children. A two and half block walk to Lake Michigan and a half block walk to downtown is perfectly located to enjoy the beauty of Frankfort in summer. Conveniently located in the heart of Frankfort, once you arrive you can walk everywhere.
What makes this property unique
Hands down the best feature of the House is the expansive front porch. All our guests rave about it as the number one item they miss most when they leave. Running a close second, is the spacious remodeled kitchen, dining room and laundry room. Additionally, the bedrooms located on the first and second floor make it ideal for private family space as well as convenient for grandparents. Our home is full of tradition and comfort which is perfect for families to enjoy.
