About this property
Tiny Rustico CASA LUCERTOLA with outdoor kitchen & pool. Pets welcome!
For nature lovers and stargazers:
18 km away from all the stress and coastal bustle, in the culturally rich, mountainous hinterland of Sanremo and Ventimiglia, lies our cozy little rustico - CASA LUCERTOLA - amidst our orchard, a patch of olive grove, and eucalyptus fields.
The view from the sun-drenched terraces towards the sunset over the valley is fantastic, and small lizards sun themselves everywhere on the walls.
You can also occasionally spot the large, green emerald lizard here, or a pair of birds of prey from Monte Bignone, enjoying the thermals unique to this semicircular mountain.
Our four Cameroon sheep graze peacefully next door and occasionally steal a leaf from the huge fig tree behind the outdoor kitchen, which exudes its wonderfully sweet scent in summer and delights us and our guests with juicy, white figs twice a year.
This is the perfect place to relax in nature and unwind.
The vintage panoramic pool, located a little higher up in a specially converted, 60-year-old concrete vasca, is reached via a few stone steps - past the outdoor shower and the GECO glamping cottage.
Even closer to the sky and the stars, you can refresh yourself with a dip in the water from June to October, or just dip your feet in the water in the evening and watch the sunset and then the stars with a glass of wine.
This beautiful setting makes up for the perhaps somewhat bumpy and adventurous journey:
From the nearest small town, Apricale, to your accommodation, it's about 5km of country, interstate, and private roads. The rural roads here in the mountainous hinterland are typically very narrow, unlit, bumpy, and poorly maintained.
A private road, approximately 1.5 km long and shared by neighbors, leads to CASA LUCERTOLA, of which 700 m are partially paved. The remaining stretch is a 2-3 m wide dirt road, which is particularly easy to navigate in summer.
Please note:
Low-slung vehicles are not suitable here or in the wider surrounding area. Vehicles larger than a VW bus are also not recommended.
We recommend arriving during daylight hours if possible, so you can enjoy the view of the beautiful nature and the picturesque, medieval (mountain) villages along the way.
You can park your vehicle in front of the entrance gate to the property of the rustico, CASA LUCERTOLA. The property is at the end of a cul-de-sac and is completely private.
The rustico has two terraces, each with seating, to the right and left of the house. The smaller one leads to the ground-level interior: a small living-dining room with a kitchenette (sink, 2-burner gas stove) and an open fireplace. Passing through the old stone wall, you enter the former barn. The refrigerator is located in the small hallway, opposite a cute bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet, and next to it is a cozy, small bedroom with a double bed (140x200cm) for 1-2 people.
All within a total living space of around 25 m².
For small children, we are happy to provide a travel cot with bedding, a high chair, and a children's bathtub upon request.
An additional 2 people can be accommodated in our glamping cottage GECO, above the rustico, upon request and for an additional charge.
The rustico can be operated either independently in terms of electricity and light using solar energy, or via a grid connection. Our glamping cottage and the outdoor kitchen are connected to the grid.
We deliberately chose not to include a television because we want to offer you a place of peace and quiet in this beautiful setting, far from the stress and hustle and bustle of everyday life. Wi-Fi is available, subject to the availability of local connections.
A radio with Bluetooth functionality for your own music and a small hairdryer in the bathroom are also available in the rustico. For your safety, a first-aid kit, a smoke detector, a fire extinguisher, a CO2 detector, and a small safe for your valuables are also available.
A few meters past the house is a tetoia, which we occasionally use, outside of the guest season, to tend to our eucalyptus. It primarily serves as an outdoor kitchen for our guests. In addition to additional seating and a sink, there is also a small freezer, a small oven, a gas cooking/grill combination, a kitchen witch, and a charcoal column grill.
As is common in this part of Liguria with terraced extensions, our small rustico also has a lower level. There you'll find our "cantina," where we can offer you wine and beer upon request, and a small room for our garden tools. The adjacent, tiny toilet room serves only our own private use.
