The Space:
Welcome to your perfect getaway on Daufuskie Island! This beautiful 2 Bedroom/2 Bath cottage faces the stunning Melrose Beach, offering a serene escape for families and friends alike. Recently remodeled, this vacation home boasts an inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and connection.

Spanning 1500 square feet, not including the ocean-front screened-in porch, the cottage features two spacious bedrooms, each furnished with two queen-size beds and private bathrooms. The open floor plan allows for breathtaking ocean views from every angle, while tasteful decor enhances the tranquil ambiance. Enjoy your mornings on the screened-in porch, savoring the sunrise with a cup of coffee, or unwind in the evening with a cocktail as the sun sets over the water.

Guest Access:
1) Daufuskie Rental Group makes a good faith effort to describe island amenities, including restaurants and pools. However, please note that we are not responsible for the availability of amenities that we do not operate and that are beyond our control. Please contact the vendors directly for rates, days and hours of operation.

2) Your rental agreement contract's cancellation policy states that we are not responsible for events that are beyond our control, such as hurricanes. We strongly encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance, and especially recommend "cancel for any reason" policies. (These must be purchased shortly after your reservation is made.)

3) Please note that because the Melrose Resort is in transition, our Melrose guests may notice a certain level of deterioration in the resort-owned buildings but will also see that renovation efforts are now underway. Our vacation cottages are in well-maintained areas and continue to be extremely popular.

The Melrose beach is mere steps away from the SeasideCottage.

The Neighborhood:
THE ISLAND

Most of our visitors also take time to get to know the rest of this special island. Those who do quickly realize that they have discovered a hidden island gem just a short boat ride from the mainland. Quiet, laid-back, and unique, beautiful Daufuskie is described by old-timers as similar to Hilton Head before a bridge connected that island with the mainland. (Daufuskie's unofficial slogan is 'No Bridge? No Problem!')

When you choose this cottage for your vacation, you will find a perfect setting to experience a lovely low country island with a centuries-old cultural history, beautiful beaches, spectacular wildlife, and friendly residents.

The wildlife is abundant and breathtaking. You will be close to the site of a Great White Egret and Wood Storks rookery, where you will see hundreds of these graceful birds settle in for the night. A nest of American Bald Eagles can occasionally be spotted, and now and then vigilant visitors can actually catch sight of a Loggerhead Turtle coming ashore to lay hundreds of eggs in the soft sand.

Getting Around:
IMPORTANT: DAUFUSKIE ISLAND HAS NO BRIDGE, AND IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE A FERRY OR WATER TAXI TO GET HERE. YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR CAR ON THE OTHER SIDE AND RENT A GOLF CART TO GET AROUND THE ISLAND.

Other Things to Note:
It is necessary to take a ferry or water taxi to Daufuskie Island, which is located between Hilton Head SC and Savannah, GA. We will be happy to help with trip preparations!

Well-behaved canine family members are welcome, but must be adult dogs, housetrained, must stay off of furniture, not be incessant barkers, and must be friendly towards humans and other dogs. Upon departure, the vacation home should look as though no pet had been in it, including removal of pet hair. There is a pet fee of $125 for one dog, and $175 for two dogs.

Guests receive information and assistance from the DRG team, all of whom live on the island and who are available 24/7 for any problems.
