About this property

La Resega J by Lago Reisen

A 5-room apartment on two levels on the upper floor of a former 18th-century mill, partially renovated in 2026 and furnished with an eye for detail in a mix of antique and modern styles. Living room, open-concept kitchen, dining room, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. Comfortable box-spring beds. Free Wi-Fi. Dishwasher and washing machine. Private outdoor area with a terrace and balcony. Approx. 10,000 m² shared property with a pool and barbecue. Idyllic, quiet, and sunny location at the confluence of two pre-Alpine mountain streams, offering refreshing swimming opportunities. Free parking spaces within the gated property. Pets are not allowed.

The Mill: The former mill, built around 1720 is situated in a green oasis at the confluence of two pre-Alpine torrents, which once powered the millwheel and thus kept the mill and the life associated with it running for centuries. Grains grown in the surrounding area, such as wheat, rye, and barley, were ground here until the dawn of the Industrial Age brought drastic changes—as it did everywhere—and the mill was converted into a sawmill. The millstone was removed, and machines such as a log saw, band saw, drill, and others were installed, which made profitable woodworking truly possible. All of these devices were connected to the millwheel by leather belts, which kept them running; they remained in operation until the 1970s. Even today, there is a room in the former mill where visitors can view the machinery and gear mechanisms—testaments to an era that brought about incredible changes worldwide. Nestled in the heart of a quiet and idyllic, approximately 10,000 m² of partially wooded property lies the approximately 1,000 m² main building, which was restored over the years by the architect who lives there with great love, expertise, and above all, passion. In doing so, he placed great importance on preserving the original structures, and—using regional materials—he succeeded in building an architectural bridge between the past and the present without altering the mill’s original character.

The Surroundings: Here, in the Valcuvia Valley—a region of exceptional scenic beauty nestled between Lake Maggiore and Lake Lugano—everyone can find exactly what makes a holiday a unique and unforgettable experience. For hiking enthusiasts, there are many well-maintained hiking trails. Cycling fans have countless opportunities to explore the area on tours of varying difficulty, and the Lombard metropolis of Milan is not far away for those interested in history and culture. Those seeking peace and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle are especially in the right place here, and a refreshing swim in one of the two streams will remain a lasting memory. The small village of Rancio is about a 5-minute walk away, and larger shopping options, a pharmacy, restaurants, and more are also just about a 5-minute drive away. The new, approximately 10-kilometer-long bike path allows you to easily reach Luino and the lake by bike. For golf enthusiasts, there are several courses available in the immediate vicinity. Pets are not allowed.
