Beautiful cosy cottage in a great location to do all things Loch Ness. Friendly and helpful host. Lovely view of the Loch via a short walk through the wood. We had the best family holiday!
This was our second stay at Lillybank. This time with christmas. We had a lovely time! Also nice touch was the christmas tree. We had an amazing christmas at the house, loved our highland walks and trips to Inverness. Lillybank feels like a home away from home! Thank you again for the amazing stay!
We have been to Fort Augustus many times but this cottage is the best we have ever stayed in great location like home from home thank you for a wonderful stay
Lilybank is a dream come true! We found it easily from the directions. And what a setting - so peaceful and lovely - we felt as if we needed a pinch to check we're not dreaming... Plus all the comforts of home away from home. And a roaring fire place, where we could sit and discuss the day's beauties with each other. Not to mention a stacked kitchen where we whipped up some real food.We slept well, ate well, laughed a lot and wish we'd never have to leave. What a marvelous stay!

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Lilybank and hope to see you again.
This cottage certainly lived up to our expectations. The location was perfect with a short enjoyable walk along the river into the village and you could spend hours gazing at the views from any window. Cannot recommend Lilydale highly enough.

Thank you so much for your kind review and taking the trouble to write one. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. Come back again on your next trip to the UK!
A wonderful cottage.Comfortable, so dog friendly, all the amenities you could ask for.Incredibly quiet with views of Loch Ness that changed every hour, and just five minutes walk in to the village centre. We will most definitely be back.
This lovely cottage was even better than i had expected. The cottage is more than roomy enough for the 4 adults in our family and would have accommodated another 2 easily. We could walk down a path at the waters edge and be in the heart of the village in 3 minutes.

Hi Dawn
I am really glad that you had a good time at Lilybank. Come and stay with us another time!
Best wishes
Lucy
We loved our week stay at Lilybank. The house was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The yard and the area surrounding the house was quiet but in 2 minutes walking you are in the middle of the small town. The kids loved watching all the boats passing through! We enjoyed lots of trips in the area: Jacobite train, Inverness, Uruquart castle and hiking in Glen Coe and Alt na Criche. Would highly recommend!

Beautiful cottage in a stunning location
The photos of the cottage are great but they do not do the location the justice it deserves. The setting of the cottage is stunning and very quiet despite being so close to Fort Augustus.
The cottage has everything you would need for a great holiday. The garden is lovely, and it was great to just sit and watch boats going in and out of the canal, to use the locks.
Fort Augustus is very quaint, we enjoyed going to The Lock Inn, and you can sit outside right beside the lock.
Highly recommend Lilybank.

Many thanks for your comments - I am glad that you enjoyed your stay.
Felt at home straight away. Ideal location in quiet, rural area. Comfy beds, plenty of space for the five of us inside and out, cleanliness throughout. Lovely watercolour oaintings throughout the property. Were these paintings done by a family member ? Lovely to watch wildlife from the window and to get visits from the friendly neighbouring cat.

Thanks for taking the time to write us a review, Avril. We’re really glad you had a good stay. My late father was a keen watercolour artist and many of the paintings in the house are done by him or my mother.
About the host
Hosted by Lucy Phipps
My grandparents purchased Lilybank back in 1968, after years of holidaying in Scotland and falling in love with the area. It has given four generations of my family great memories of holidays in one of the most beautiful corners of the world. Three of us even claim to have caught sight of that illusive monster during those years! I took over the management of the cottage two years ago and have enjoyed updating Lilybank as a holiday home for today's holiday maker.
Why they chose this property
Lilybank has been a much loved family holiday home for over 50 years. It is a special place in a wonderful location. The house feels cosy but spacious and has recently been updated with new kitchen and bathrooms. It is a place for building memories with wonderful day trips out or days just sitting in the garden, perhaps even braving a dip in the loch or river. Rainy days at Lilybank can be spent in front of the woodburner, playing board games or getting stuck into a good book (there are plenty to choose from in the house). Find a different walk everyday in the stunning countryside, have a meal at a local pub (the Loch Inn has an amazing number of Whiskies to try), dip your toes (or more if you're feeling really brave) in the lochs and rivers and generally soak up the marvellous and majestic highland scenery.
What makes this property unique
Quiet, village location with excellent local amenities. Comfortable and well equipped house, in a peaceful spot with lovely river and loch views.
