Very cute and cozy property. It was a private studio on a very cute property. The perfect place for a weekend away with my spouse. The access to the bike trail was perfect. We will be back and highly recommend.
My adult daughter and i stayed here for the weekend to celebrate her birthday. We absolutely love everything about this property. We literally felt like we were staying in a tree house. Beautiful place.
Though many reviews are from couples, this property was the perfect place for my former college roommate and I to take a girls getaway. Despite rainy weather, we had a great time. And that is partly due to how well-appointed, conveniently located and thoughtfully hosted this retreat is. Don’t hesitate to book!
Wonderful vacation in Stillwater. Liz is a great host. She amswered all our questions. Loved the property and access to bike trail was so simple. Thank you again Liz for sharing your property with us! Will be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Liz’s artists loft! It was one of the cleanest, brightest and well appointed VRBOs that we have stayed at. It was beautifully decorated and the location was incredible. It was an easy walk on the biking/hiking trail from the property to downtown Stillwater and it was great to leave the car behind in the private driveway and eliminate parking downtown. We really appreciated the complimentary bottle of wine and the on your honor beer fridge. Liz was very responsive and gave us lots of suggestions on places to visit. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area!
We had a relaxing weekend and really enjoyed this cozy place as our home base. It has everything you need, was clean, private, and nicely decorated. Would definitely recommend it and stay there again.
A wonderful, relaxing studio. Super comfortable bed and all the amenities one would need.

In 1998, I almost purchased the small house across the street. I remember standing in the driveway, pointing at my current home, and saying to the realtor, 'That is the house I want.' Seven years later, I bought it. I think you will find the feeling of 'yesteryear' and see the remnants of the company town this neighborhood has to offer. There is a Bohemian feel with several artists living within walking distance. Several years ago, I remodeled with the desire to appeal to travelers. I am a traveler who enjoys a more provincial experience to a complete touristy experience. If you are similar, I think you will find this in Dutchtown. Additionally, I have been in Stillwater for 26 years (unbelievable!). I would love to serve as your personal consigliere.
Why they chose this property
Natural light pours in from the six skylights featured in the studio. Being up there when it rains gives you the feeling of being in a birdhouse. Stillwater is the most visited place in Minnesota, second only to the Mall of America. BTW, the Mall of America could definitely be a day trip given it is only 32 miles from here. The one mile walk or bike to Historic Downtown Stillwater gives you the feeling of being a local. Wineries and brewies are popping up everywhere which could also make for a fun day trip. The little towns up and down the St. Croix River Valley could provide enough activity for a week and then some. Marine on St. Croix to the North boosts itself as being the Birth Place of Minnesota, although so does Stillwater:) Further north is Taylor's Falls and St. Croix Falls, both having individual charm and worth checking out. Down river is the quaint village of Afton were you could easily laze away a day. Further south you will find Prescott which is at the confluence of the St. Croix River and Minnesota river. Lunch and music at Muddy Water's Salon is always worth the drive. Of course, the twin cities is only about a 30 minute drive and has everything a large city has to offer. Fine dining, museums, and urban flair is abundant - yes, even in the winter!
What makes this property unique
The charm of this architecturally designed home is it's setting. It is located on one of the steepest hills in Stillwater which adds to the allure. The large windows help bring the outside into the living space. I was raised on a hobby farm so I find that digging in the dirt is not only in my blood, but therapy. Slowly, I have introduced many native plants into my gardens. I'm amazed by how many pollinators; such as hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees, I see around since making the transition to natives.
