Discover Ireland and Cobh for a long week-end or a holiday!
- english, french, Dutch
We are an Irish-French-Dutch family who loves spending time in Ireland. It is such a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere compared to our buzzing life in busy cities. What we most particularly love is enjoying a glass of wine with a great meal in the house, after a day of golf and walking and running! We hope you will enjoy the house as much as we do!
Why Carole chose Cobh
I love being in Cobh as it is a central point for many relaxing activities that you will enjoy during your stay, whether it is for a week-end, a week or more, here are some ideas on what you can do (and that we enjoy doing also): - Golf – Cobh Golf Club is located 3km from the house, which also features one of the most picturesque Par 3 in the country, and island green with the harbour in the distance. I can arrange Green Fees "at the drop of a hat" and if you don’t bring your own Golf Clubs, I can supply 2 full sets (golf bags included, which are in the house). If you want to do a Golf Tour, you also have very nearby the Fota Golf Club, and Cork Golf Club. The Old Head of Kinsale is easily accessible also. - Walking and Running: you have various routes that you can walk or run on the island! From sea-side walks to countryside walks, via wood walks, there are plenty of choices! - Fishing – depending on the time of the year, you will be able to fish different ways! - Spa – why not pampering you in the Fota Spa? - Restaurants & Pubs – you cannot stay in Ireland without going into a traditional Irish Pub, and in Cobh you will be spoiled with choices! The best pint of Guinness for us is at the Roaring Donkey on top of the hill! - Discovering – the Titanic and the Lusitania have marked the town, and to discover the history, you can visit the Museum, walk the trail and rest in the Memorial Garden. - Boat trip – take a boat tour to Spike Island. The multi-cultural island has hosted a monastery, a fortress and a prison within its 104 acres, all of which have left their mark. - And of course, plenty of activities for children: the Fota Zoo, Cuskinny court adventure park, swimming pool, playgrounds across the town, they will enjoy their time in Cobh also!
What makes this House unique
One of the reasons why I love this house is that it carries a lot of history. My husband is born on this hill and has a lot of nice memories from these houses. Now that we have our own family, I love the relaxing atmosphere we have created in the house. We enjoy having a glass of wine with friends and a good dinner in the house, after a day with Golf, walk and running! The other reason I love the house is that it is big and spacious! You can have a lot of people in the house, and still have some privacy, due to the 2 bathrooms, the living space, the large kitchen space, etc. It is a well organised house. But mostly, I enjoy coming to Ireland as it is a relaxing, wild atmosphere, away from our busy lives in busy cities... Our objective is for you to enjoy as much the house as the area! And we will be very happy to help organizing your stay and also helping you during your stay!

Lovely house in a great location
Very nice house, in the noted "Deck of Cards" as seen in tourist info. Well-equipped and spacious. Easy parking, and easy walking access to Cobh centre (the hill on which the house sits is steep, but not too difficult). Recommended.
Great location for visiting County Cork
A very lovely and quaint home for sightseeing in and around County Cork without the crowds of the town of Cork. Colorful local pubs, good selection of restaurants, and a feeling of being a bit off the beaten path. Use the little ferry to avoid the traffic congestion of getting around Cork during rush hour! The kitchen was well-stocked and two full baths (although one is small) was appreciated by four adult travelers. Be sure to put the cone out to reserve your parking space in front of the house when leaving for the day. Very thick walls and quiet. We loved the bells from the nearby church.
Historic and charming, well-appointed home, in a great location
It was a real treat to stay on the picturesque street in a ‘deck of cards’ home in Cobh. This charming three-story home had all the comforts of home and a great choice for families or larger groups. We enjoyed the opportunity to wander the streets of Cobh and enjoy its charms plus a quick trip on the train to explore Cork. Thank you, Carole, Patrick and Marian, for your warm hospitality!
Like living in a picture postcard!
This is a lovely home! We were a party of 6 adults and 2 children. The living and dining areas are comfortable. There is plenty hot water for showers, dishwashing, clothes washing, etc.--maybe not at the same time (some of us like to shower in the a.m. and some in the p.m. so we didn't test getting all that done at once). The showers also have good pressure. The beds are comfy! A well-stocked shop for groceries is just up the hill about a block and there is another one on the main street about 2 blocks down the hill. Communication with Carole was quick and easy throughout the planning stages and upon arrival. Because we were arriving late on Saturday evening, she even assisted us by having her mother-in-law receive a delivery that I ordered from the local grocery store so we would have what we needed for the first night and morning. All-in-all, it was a lovely stay.
Carole’s home is in a great location- very convenient to town. The hill is steep, but we managed without problems. Check in was easy with her sweet mother in law Marian. We had plenty of room for 6 adults.
Owners were communicative, check-in was so easy and the location was beyond perfect. We entered the home and were immediately struck by the charm, the views and the attention to detail throughput. Some things work differently than they do at home, but there wasn’t one thing that wasn’t easily addressed in the property handbook. My entire family loved our stay and is hoping to return to Cobh and to this home.☘️😊
Thank you so much Suzanne for taking the time for the review! It was really great being able to host you and we are looking forward to welcoming you again very soon indeed! The Irish charm is definitely there!!
What can you do around Cobh and Cork?
- Ideal for a day trip as it is only 1,5 hour drive, you will reach Killarney. Visit this nice town and the beautiful lakes, and don’t miss the walk through the Gap of Dunloe (by walk or with a horse-drawn trap).
- Kenmare is nice town to discover in South Kerry (1.6 hours drive from Cobh) and from there you will also be able to discover breathtaking Irish scenery.
- Continuing into Kerry, you will reach the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry (2.5 hours drive from Cobh) – this is Ireland westernmost’s point and has a lot of activities to offer: sandy beaches, walking Mount Brandon, view of the blasket’s islands, etc.
- You can also continue your trip to the cliffs of Moher.
There are plenty of activities and sites to visit, don’t hesitate to contact us for some help organising your visit!
