A new ceramic floor throughout and a full size cook's kitchen with stainless steel appliances are two things our guests love about the condo. Banana Wind is a spacious retreat with a king size master suite and private bath along with twin beds and a private bath in the guest room. A full sized round dining table creates the perfect gathering place for family dinners or playing board games. Our housekeeping service washes every piece of linen, including the comforters on the bed, so you are assured of a clean and pleasant stay. It's hard to stay closer to the beach with the water and stunning beach pool (1 of 6) only steps away. In case it rains or in cooler seasons, you can access our indoor pool and sauna at no additional charge. We've included new flat screen televisions in each room. Our balcony features two rocking chairs and tables so you can relax and enjoy the beautiful evenings and gulf breeze. We've included everything imaginable to make your stay more fun. If you want crowded beaches, heavy traffic and non-stop noise you're looking at the wrong location. We are a family resort with a secure 24/7 gated entrance and quiet time beginning at 10:00 PM. Just a short 15 minute drive transports you worlds away to a resort experience. Sandwiched between thousands of acres of National Wildlife refuge with hiking trails and empty or low density beaches, you'll feel like you're in old Key West. We have shuffleboard, tennis, horseshoes, and one of the 70 best resort golf courses in The Unites States right next door. Kiva Dunes is a world class golf club open to the public with a driving range and practice facility. Enjoy lunch at Uncle Leo's, have dinner and drinks at the Sassy Bass or walk next door to Kiva for a bite to eat and a cocktail. We have outdoor grills located throughout the property near each entrance and we offer a laundry on each floor in case you want to wash some clothes before returning home. Our island was discovered by the Spanish in 1500 and much of their fleet was destroyed in a hurricane in 1504 just behind our property. Because we are on a narrow peninsula separating the Gulf of Mexico from Bon Secour Bay, you can enjoy both the beach or bay when you stay with us. We have a boat launch across from our property and you are welcome to park your boat and trailer here at our resort. Just a few miles west you'll find historic Fort Morgan and museum, our ferry to Dauphin Island, a state park and marina. You can buy an ice cream cone, fill up with gas, get a massage or have dinner at sports bar within 1 mile of the resort. This property was perfect for us 4! Everything you need is provided, loved the fans, for the stay. Contacting the host was easy and they responded very quickly! I have nothing negative to say about this condo.
This is our second stay at this condo and our Third stay on the Plantation grounds. The condo is clean, has everything we need and has great access to the beach. We hope to stay again in the future years!
Loved this condo and location on the gulf. Within a short walk of the ocean and that is certainly the reason we come back. The lodgings are very comfortable and when we did have a minor issue the response time and assistance was prompt and helpful.
Thanks for the getaway.
We had a great stay at this condo. We love that the resort is away from the crowds in Gulf Shores. The beach and pools are close and family friendly. The condo was clean and comfortable. There were a few items that needed attention (burnt out light bulbs, bed pillows that needed to be replaced, a clock that needed new batteries, broken kitchen scissors) but none of these minor items had a negative impact on our stay. Our family had a great week!

Amazing Beach Condo
We can't wait to come back to the Gulf. From the moment we walked through the doors... it was amazing. I don't think I have ever been in such a well cared for and beautifully decorated rental condo. The owners thought of everything we would need and this made for a fabulous week away from home. Loved the multiple pools and close walk down the boardwalk to the beach. Our teen children had a great time as well. Very safe and friendly community. We will be back and will definitely rent this condo again.

Property owner/manager was great and excellent at communicating. Beds were comfortable and nice fluffy bath towels.
Place could have definitely been cleaner, there was inches of dust on the fans, pictures on the walls and table decor. Also, no hand soap in any of the bathrooms or kitchen.
The condo is close to to a swimming pool and boardwalk to the beach. I was able to contact the owner about a question I had.
She was able to respond and answer in a timely manner.
There is a Dollar General store just 4 miles away. That was very helpful. We always enjoy GSP.
Everything about our trip was wonderful! Condo was perfect from the beautiful, spa-like decor to the absolutely best sleep I've had in a long time!
We prepared most of our meals onsite and every tool we needed was provided. That said, there are several restaurants nearby with reasonable, varied menus.
The ocean is a very short walk away. FT. Morgan beach is very clean and family friendly.
The Shaws were very helpful and responsive. Definitely a rental that will stay on our list to revisit.
Oh, and check-in was seamless. No key to keep up with or worry about being locked out. The keyless entry was a brilliant touch!
Thank You for everything!
Ft. Morgan is beautiful and we had a wonderful week. Be sure to take pictures and tell the owner about every little thing that is wrong with the condo to avoid an up charge at the end of your stay. We paid $50 for a loose screw on a cabinet door that was loose when we got there. The condo is not as updated as others and so be sure to document every little thing before your stay gets started.

For some reason someone in this party decided to tear the front of a cabinet off that was nailed closed. There was no knob on this panel. It was decorative.
Overall, a good stay in a smaller condo with a family of 5 ( teenagers ). If you’re planning to prep meals, you’ll want to bring what you need. We opted for cooking in and had to Magyver a few things. There were only 2 pans/skillets an 8 in and maybe a 10 in. Two small cookie sheets, no pizza pan. No kitchen shears. One trash bag for the week. The coffee maker is a Keurig, so after buying groceries, needed to head out again for pods. No laundry in condo, cost was $2.25 for washer and $2.25 for dryer. One set of towels for the week. One roll of toilet paper per bathroom. There was no ocean/beach view unless you crammed your neck out of the master bedroom window. Lighting in master bedroom was poor. One lamp and one tiny nightstand. Tight quarters. Many things openly unattended. Master bath did not drain while showering, shower head aesthetic piece was separated from wall. Wires poking out of ceiling fan in dining area. Bedroom with twin beds had wiring plates separated from wall. Beach chairs broken, beach umbrella broken.no directions on where trash or laundry were on site, nor restaurant or hours of operation- would have been nice. Beach was nice, you are definitely in a secluded area of town. Nice and peaceful. There was a dollar general down the road which had necessities such as tp, paper towels, sunscreen beach gear. Overall I would pass on this property due to size and amenities
We all had a wonderful time and everything is what the owners said it was supposed to be, we would definitely be back in the future the pool and the ocean was breath taking the room was fantastic the only thing that was bad about the room was there were a lot of mosquitoes in the bathtub and parts of the condo also but other than that it was incredible. The part we loved was it wasn't very crowded and everyone was very friendly Sassy Bass there on the property was nice too
This was by far this best condominium at the best location that my family and I have stayed at in the last several years...and we have been to many locations. It was beautiful, spacious, and right on the beach. My family and I had a wonderful time!!
The beach was amazing. The pools were nice but we're very cold. The one pool was heated but had some issues. The indoor pool was not available at this time so I can't review that. Over all we all had a great time and will visit this area again. The hosts were quick to respond to questions. Thanks again for the stay.
This condo was perfect for our family!!! Condo was well stocked and super clean when we arrived. Beds were very comfy and WiFi was great! Location was convenient especially being on the first floor. Short walk to the beach! The only issue we had was the washer/dryer on the first and second floors are out of order but I found AAA North side Laundromat on the parkway that was clean and efficient- manager was extremely helpful! They have several sizes of washers/dryers for various loads- bring bills or quarters and get there early! We have been vacationing in gulf shores/fort Morgan for many years and this is the BEST condo we have stayed in- would definitely come back and recommend for anyone!!

Dated Building
My group was not impressed with our stay at Gulf Shores Plantation. The building was incredibly dated and even had that “old, musty” smell. The actual condo had been updated, but the twin beds and the couch were incredibly uncomfortable. We would not return to this building or condo for the same price. As for size, it would probably be okay for a couple (there is one king bed), but it was NOT a good fit for a group of 4. We were packed in like sardines.
When we arrived the condo was clean and exactly as described. The manager was great with providing small details prior to our stay and very responsive to our questions. The condo was furnished with the majority of the things needed for a great beach experience and came with appropriate amount of household items to maintain the property during our stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay away from the main Gulf Shores experience, which provides access to a clean and not packed beach.
We had a great time. Loading and unloading the car was a breeze with the first floor entry. Walking out on the beach was fast and easy! Our toddler loved the ocean!

About the host
Hosted by Susan Yager
My wife and I grew up in the Midwest and discovered Fort Morgan when we moved to Birmingham in 2000. We moved here in 2012 and bought a house next door on the golf course where will live with our dogs. We purchased and renovated the condo at Plantation because we fell in love with the resort and we knew our friends would love it too. With five adult kids and their growing families the extra space comes in handy!
Why they chose this property
This is one of those old style beach resorts that seem to have vanished over the last forty years with all the commercial development on the beach. We chose to purchase a condo here because we believe it's the most "Old Key West" experience anywhere on the gulf. We own and renovated two condos here so our family, friends and guests can enjoy a first class stay at a great resort. When you've rented at the beach as much as we have you've been both elated and disappointed in the condition of the units over the years. Please know that when you stay at our place it will look like the photographs and will be clean and fresh.
What makes this property unique
We live just a few hundred yards down the beach! We'll be happy to guide you to the best restaurants, shrimp markets, amusement parks, dolphin cruises and if you're nice, we'll even share where the good fishing holes are located. We hope you'll choose Banana Wind and we look forward to making your vacation the one your family talks about for years to come!
