Our relationship with St. John began in 1989 when, on the recommendation of a friend, we rented a small villa for a week with our 3 children (plus a 4th in utero!). Our entire family fell in love with the natural beauty and easy-going attitude of this special island.
St. John became a winter getaway for most of the next 12 years. We rented a hillside house overlooking Rendezvous Bay and Ditleff Point for most of these years. Our family became very comfortable on the island, discovering beaches, hiking trails and eateries.
In 2000, on an afternoon hike directly up the hill from our rental house, we came upon an empty piece of land with a “For Sale” sign. The property shared the same beautiful views and cooling breezes as the rental house we loved. This “out of the blue” discovery led to the building of our own island home…a true labor of love.
‘Out of the Blue’ was built with comfort, privacy, convenience, and relaxation in mind. Our family has grown exponentially to include in-laws and 5 grandchildren. ‘Out of the Blue’ has been our “home away from home,” an island refuge and a yearly destination for all.
We hope guests in our home will love it as much as we do and will achieve the same sense of relaxation, well being and peace that we feel while there. We suggest mornings by the pool and afternoons at one of the island’s beautiful sandy beaches. Enjoy!!
