KINGFISHER BEACH HOUSE - West-facing waterfront! Perfect for World Cup 2026!
Whether looking for a couple's retreat, a weekend with friends, or a family getaway to build sand castles and driftwood forts, the Kingfisher Beach House is the perfect combination of architectural and natural beauty. Nestled peacefully toward the end of a forgotten beach road, this home brings the Olympic Mountains and Admiralty Inlet into every moment of your vacation. The 'Kingfisher' is so close to the beach that we built it on stilts and, from almost every angle of this angular home, you are greeted by water. At night, you will fall asleep to the chuckle of churning waves, and in the morning your eyes will open to soft light painted on the snow-capped Olympic Mountains. Once inside, you are surrounded by craftsmanship at its very best. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and baking, and the open floor plan allows you to be part of the action while you create. The main house has three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, a walk through closet for stowing your stowables, and a spacious walk-in shower to refresh you after your day of fun. Downstairs are two more bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and the other with two twin-size beds. The main level shower was designed after a Japanese shower room - large enough for multiples, with a deep soaking tub and showering area all in this same room. Feel free to let your kids splash until their splashers are tired, as this entire room was designed to get wet. This home was just completed and is now ready for you and your friends and family to relax at the beach.
While staying at the Kingfisher, you will experience this wonderful beach location with the comfort and privacy rarely experienced on beach property. Walk 200 yards south down the beach and you will be exploring over a mile of undeveloped, protected beach and tidelands. On any given walk, you and your friends and family will be sharing this space with kingfishers, eagles, osprey, seals, otters, and all of the tide-pool critters that live in the shallows of the Puget Sound. Keep your eyes on the water while you are cooking dinner or sitting on the deck and you might also see the porpoises patrol the beach. Please note that during the salmon run you can put on your hip-waders, secure a buzz bomb to your favorite pole, and cast with abandon. It is a well-kept, local secret that this beach yields some of the best salmon fishing on the island. If you have kayaks, bring them along, for a quick shove off from your beach will have you exploring some of the most beautiful coastline on South Whidbey.
The house has WiFi and smart TV, and is the perfect place to sit by the fire and watch the game. The deck has Adirondack chairs to lounge in and a propane grill at the ready so that you can feed the loungers.
I guess the big rule for the house is to have fun - lots of it! My main, humble asking is that you treat our family home with respect. We love this place! The home was built so that your family and mine can enjoy the beach for years to come.
Thank you so much for your interest and please enjoy the beach.

Beautiful and well appointed home right on the beach. Our host, Andy, was very helpful and nice and provided detailed information about the home and check-in process.
This home is amazing! The best vacation rental we have stayed at on Whidbey, and we have stayed at several. The beach is amazing, but the house is also perfect in every way - kitchen is well equipped, tv is easy to use/navigate, showers and bath are well made and maintained. Host correspondence was top shelf. We will be back!
We have been going to Kingfisher for years now - it’s an absolutely beautiful house from its architectural lines, design layout and views. The amenities are quality as are the beds and bedding.. wife and I love this house and location so much we’ve asked owner if he’d sell - i know exactly why he plans to never sell it! Thank you AH!
Zen environment save for work being done on nextdoor property during our stay.

JT - I am thrilled that you enjoyed the house and beach and am truly sorry that the neighbor’s were putting a deck on the house while you were there. The only thing I could do is let you know in advance that is was going on, which I did, and wish the timing of the project was different so you wouldn’t be disturbed. I really am sorry it took away from your experience.
We had a great time at Kingfisher Beach House! Comfy beds, well-supplied kitchen, and gorgeous sunsets. We enjoyed the proximity to everything we wanted to do on Whidbey. A highlight of our stay was a tour of nearby Ballydídean Sanctuary Farm. Thank you Andy for your hospitality.
Second stay at this lovely property. The views and beach activity are amazing! The house is very well stocked. Great place to spend time with family. Thanks for being such wonderful hosts, Maggie and Andy!
The house is amazing!!! So well designed with a simple but beautiful aesthetic. The kitchen is very well equipped and a pleasure to cook in. We all enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back again. Such a relaxed feeling to be in this special place!
Beautiful property in prime quiet location with stunning water views. We strolled the beach at low tide each morning and were in awe of the stars at night. Cruise ships, cargo ships, Navy vessels and eagles added to the view. We will be back.
We had an incredible stay at this property - it was exactly as listed and absolutely perfect for celebrating our anniversary. The space was luxurious, the views were stunning, and everything felt thoughtfully designed for comfort and relaxation. One highlight was the exceptionally well stocked kitchen, which made cooking a breeze (not something you find in every rental!). We couldn’t have asked for a better getaway and would come back in a heartbeat.
We enjoyed the solitude and comfort at this wonderful spot. Thank you to Andy for the great communication and having all the essentials for a relaxing getaway for our family. Clean, comfortable, right on the beach with everything we needed and more.
Over all house was in a very good location. Just a few small suggestions: Towel bar(s) in downstairs bathroom next to sink; waste baskets in bedrooms/living area (only 2 in downstairs area - kitchen and toilet room); outdoor lights on back deck (it is VERY dark at night if you are taking your dog outside in the backyard). House itself was very clean and well organized. I liked the UTube TV.

Thank you for your suggestions, Susan!
I am happy you enjoyed your stay at the house. Just to clarify, we do have a light on the back deck. The switch for it is on the panel to the right of the credenza.
Warmly,
Andy
The house was wonderful, and Andy was a pleasure to communicate with.

About the host

Thank you for your interest in our home. My wife Maggie and I, and our two young daughters, just moved back to Whidbey after 10 years living abroad. Maggie teaches elementary art, here on the island, and I manage the house and other small businesses. Construction of the Kingfisher was finished in August, 2014. We are excited to have created a place for you to come build family memories, and for us to spend time while on our summer breaks. Enjoy your stay, and when you do, please report back to us. We love hearing all about your adventures on what I feel is the best beach on Whidbey.
Why they chose this property
The Kingfisher was built with you in mind. From our first meeting with the architect, we constructed this house to be the perfect space for people to come and build memories at the beach. This is a luxury, one-of-a-kind home, where you, your family, and your beloved dog, can come explore the best of what the Puget Sound has to offer.
What makes this property unique
The Olympic Mountains and shipping lanes feel like they are part of this home, and falling asleep to the gentle lapping of water redefines relaxing. Don't take our word for it, come and see for yourself. You are always welcome! 48 AMP Level 2 EV Charging station on site, too!
