*** Please reach out for daily rates and for availability as my calendar may be open even when it shows that it's closed.

Historic 1-bedroom, 1.5 bathroom home, with two private balconies and RARE driveway parking option. Situated on the 2nd floor of an historic townhouse, with an emphasis on upscale furnishings, organic amenities and excellent customer service.

I am an experienced host who has been awarded PremierHost Status on VRBO.

I provide guests the same five-star touches that I look for when I travel: lodging located in a gorgeous neighborhood, safety, cleanliness, high-speed Internet and upscale linens, towels, mattresses, furnishings and kitchenware.

Spacious DuPont Circle-Kalorama home rests on a quiet tree-lined street in one of the most preferred neighborhoods of DC. We are nestled among beautiful mansions, embassies and presidential dwellings.

The home is renovated and has 1000 square feet of indoor living space, featuring high ceilings, tall windows and original French doors. Enhancing those quarters are two balconies: just off the kitchen for dining alfresco, and next to the bedroom for morning coffee and quiet conversation outdoors.

Comfortable contemporary and antique furnishings are accented by eclectic décor. You’ll find the kitchen well-stocked for your cooking needs. The spiral staircase leads to a master retreat that is tucked away from the rest of the home. The bedroom is nicely sized and comfortably appointed. Complementing that space is a full bathroom, sunroom alcove and a Juliette balcony.

Steps from our door you will find a corner market and a dry cleaner. Just a few blocks beyond you'll enjoy restaurants, cafes, salons, theater and shopping.

The starting-monthly-discounted-rate is listed on this website.
Price is seasonal and is based on 2 lodgers.
Please reach out for seasonal monthly and daily rates. The week of the inauguration requires a 5-night minimum stay.
Driveway parking is available and can be added to your quote, should you require it.

Note: The furnishings are constantly evolving.

Really perfect!

We loved staying at this place! It was in a great location to restaurants, transportation (even a trolley stop), and grocery markets. It was perfect size for three people - plenty of space to be alone and together. The 1/2 bath on the first floor was a gift. Thanks for everything Gloria!

Wonderful get away

My husband and I went to visit our daughter who attends AU. Gloria's place was the perfect place to stay. She was always communicating with me to make sure we were comfortable. We could walk everywhere which i love to do. I would be more than happy to stay at Gloria's place again.

Just perfect...

...For our visit to DC with our teen son. Great location with shops and restaurants a short walk. Easy access to Metro. Uber cars are ubiquitous as well. Lovely space with all that was needed to relax and enjoy DC. Interesting neighborhood to walk around and explore as well. Communication with owner was prompt and very helpful. Highly recommended.

Great property in a lovely location

We stayed a full week in December and enjoyed our stay greatly. The property was just as described and pictured on vrbo. The main bedroom is up a narrowish spiral staircase, which my wife and I had no trouble negotiating despite being in our 70s. The building is quiet and the neighborhood is beautiful. It's a short walk / cab/ Uber to almost anywhere, including to Rock Creek park, where there's a great walking / jogging path that takes you to Georgetown and beyond. Highly recommended.

Quiet neighborhood with charm

The efficient apartment had everything we needed in a small but perfectly appointed space. High ceilings combined with chic rustic antiques, quaint sitting areas, and a balcony perfect for breakfast coffee or evening glass of wine. There were enough kitchen appliances (a Vitamix!!) to cook a meal with a nearby neighborhood grocer with fresh eggs and limited but upscale food. The restaurants in walking distance were also fantastic (Zenebech..Michelin Bib Gourmand (!) was excellent.) Also, the Metro stop in DuPont Circle is a convenient 10 minute walk with coffee shops and cafes en route.

Peaceful, quiet, and comfortable

I recently stayed here for a business trip and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The walk from the DuPont Metro to the apartment takes about 10-15 minutes, longer if you linger to look at the embassy homes or enjoy the beautiful leafy neighborhood. The apartment itself is well-appointed - the kitchen is stocked, the linens are cozy, and the entire apartment is tidy and crisp. Gloria was kind and thorough in describing the property and responded promptly to all of our communications - I really appreciated her attention to detail. My only comment for consideration to travelers - the circular staircase to the second floor is charming and fun, but may be tricky if you have a large bag or mobility challenges. Otherwise, I would enthusiastically recommend this apartment for a quiet, off-the-beaten path, and tranquil location as an antidote to the hustle and bustle of the city.

Quaint, Charming Vintage Place in a very Quiet and Safe Neighborhood

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful place. We would definitely stay again. We were so happy we chose to stay there instead of across the river. Gloria was an awesome host. She was very helpful and responded to any questions promptly. The place is as described. If driving into the city, pay for the driveway parking. It is worth not having to find street parking or another place to park. The place is an short stroll to Dupont Circle. We read the previous reviews and found them to be helpful. In regards to the stairwell, smaller suitcases would be better than one large one. Don't let it intimidate you. We had no problem going up and down it even after walking the city all day. There are numerous excellent restaurants and bars within walking distance. We enjoyed the Russia House, the Bier Baron Tavern and Larry's Ice Cream & Cupcakes for dessert.

Perfect home away from home

Our trip to Washington DC was greatly enhanced by having such a wonderful place to stay! The location is fantastic - in a row house in Kalorama, on a quiet side street, surrounded by beautiful embassies and homes, yet only a 5-10 minute walk to the Metro in Dupont Circle. With only half a block to the corner market, and a couple of minutes walking to a large selection of great restaurants, we were set. The property itself is accurately described in the information. The kitchen and bathrooms have been very nicely remodeled with updated fixtures and appliances. The bed is SO comfortable, and the linens top quality. As described, the upper floor is reached by a narrow spiral staircase, which could possibly be a challenge for some. We had no difficulty getting my large 40lb. bag upstairs, though. Do be aware that it is in an older building. If you enjoy experiencing a town/city like the locals, then for Washington DC staying in a row house is for you, and this one couldn't be better. In addition, the owner is quick to respond to any concerns and is a delight to work with. We loved our stay - the place met all our needs.

Quiet location but close to everything

Great location amongst many of the embassies and with a short walk to the shops, restaurants and the subway of DuPont Circle it was a great location for travelling with our two children (9 and 7). Lovely bed linen and the largest towels we had the whole time we were in the US. The kitchen was well equiped for self catering. The apartment is over two levels connected by a spiral staircase which would be difficult for anyone with mobility concerns or really young children. Our kids ended up using the fold out bed but this did mean a crowded lounge room. The views from the apartment are lovely and the window furnishings make the most of this but this does mean if you like blackout curtains this might not be the right place for you. Communication with owner was prompt and detailed and responsive when we had a few questions while there. A must try in the area is the artisanal gelato shop nearby on the way to the metro - delicious! There is no laundry in the apartment (as specified) but there is a laundry a nearby if you need washing done which charge around $3 per pound.

This home is in an ideal location. We were able to use the Metro to get to all the sites in D.C.

This lovely apartment was very comfortable for my husband, 11-year old son, and me. The linens are upscale. There is a little sitting area on the 2nd floor, where we put an air mattress for my son. He tried the sleeper sofa too, which was great, but he preferred to be upstairs with us. This allowed us access to the sofa for morning reading, while our son slept in. The only downside of this beautiful apartment was having to constantly adjust the thermostat. I know utilities are high, but after a day of walking around outside in the unusually hot weather DC is currently experiencing, it would have been nice to walk into a cool apartment. The owners have the thermostat controlled to stay at 79 during the day. We were able to turn it down as soon as we came in, but it would take some time to cool down. There is not a washer/dryer available, which would be very nice (essential) for longer stays. Gloria was extremely responsive and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

Everything as advertised

We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was everything the description said it would be and we really loved hanging out on the small balconies and having breakfast out there. We also ended up renting a car on Friday and happily found out that street parking on Friday - Sunday was free and allowed. The location felt VERY safe and the small market 1/2 block away was awesome. The walk to the Metro was easy and a cab ride down to the National Mall was $15. The only reason I didn't give the 5th star (and I would have given it 4.5 stars if I could) was the programmed thermostat reset to 79 degrees every 6 hours and couldn't be changed. We would turn it down when we got home in the evening and again when we went to bed but it was in the high 90's during our stay so it was HOT. We woke up very hot several times after 6 hours went by as the upstairs bedroom was hotter than the downstairs where the thermostat was...which was heading to 79 degrees at 5am. The thermostat was very high tech so I'm sure it's capable of managing a better solution. Other than this small thermostat issue which can be easily addressed, it's 5 stars!

Light & Bright // Safe & Secure // Clean & Well Appointed

I loved meeting Gloria. She was an amazing help. While we were unable to work out an early check-in, I loved that she tried. I loved that she cared. The unit was very much like the photos. I was snowed in on one entire day and the bright windows made my unplanned shut-in day so perfect! So many places I looked at were basement units and I was so happy with the bright light. The spiral staircase leading to the bedroom was difficult but not unmanageable. I did not like the smell walking into the building but it was not in the unit at all. Once in the unit the home was welcoming and clean. I had arrived a little early so I saw it dirty. I dropped my bags and when I came back the cleaning service used by Gloria had done an amazing job. I was very impressed. My values noted in the title were all met in this special place. I also want to comment on the amazing location. Not only was it safe but it was so close to the places I wanted to go. Thank you, Gloria! M.

Lovely ...but read closely!!

We thoroughly enjoyed this apartment and Gloria is in the top 1% of owners we've encountered in more than 15 years of renting homes! The apartment is unique and we loved it...but that means you have to read the description, look at the pics closely and be a tad adventurous! The bed is great, the baths wonderful if small...whole apartment on small side. But phenomenally well equipped for a couple on business/vaca for a week. We know DC and the neighborhood is fabulous with great Uber always in neighborhood, and metro a 6 minute walk, markets, restaurants and a real DC feel. Re my "read closely" comment: I do not have great balance (need cane at times) and for me the spiral staircase was fine--I'm 5' 5' 145 lbs, and just needed to hold on to the railings and have my husband bring the suitcase up and down. So I loved it. ...It added tremendously to the charm and layout of the apartment, not to mention the privacy. But if you don't like stairs, don't have someone strong to lift your suitcase up the staircase (it won't roll easily) or want a place with really spacious rooms, you may not be happy. Gloria is very clear about this in photos and descriptions, but I did notice some reviews commented negatively, so I'm just reinforcing that it is clearly "as advertised" and just something the renter needs to be aware of. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because I think it only those places that are perfect for everyone should get a 5. Bbut if you like a smaller scale place with a great owner in a great neighborhood with personality and all the conveniences , this is it!

Cute apartment in a good location and neighborhood. Not as big or new as it looks in photos. Owner was responsive to our questions. Huge construction project in the neighborhood that was not mentioned when we rented. Not the five star experience promised but a strong three.
