Comfortable Elegance--Great Location! Stone Patio, Firepit
We invite you to make yourself at home and enjoy a truly unique Portland experience. Feel the pulse, and hear the sounds of the urban activity in our central location, smell the wafts of nearby restaurants preparing gourmet delights, see the bright colors of artists in action right out the front door. Surprises are always around the corner in this safe and creative Southeast Portland neighborhood. The Belmont House is a solar-powered, recently finished renovation/conversion of an 1886 Victorian in the heart of the Rose City. The 1 bedroom main floor unit sleeps 4 people. The bedroom opens to the back with an outside, private, covered sitting porch--a great place to sit at the bistro table enjoying a quiet, secluded moment looking out at the beautiful landscaping and large backyard. There is plenty of space to congregate. Enjoy the front parlor, sit in the dining room with fireplace and books, or gather in the kitchen, pulling a stool up to the concrete counter tops. The stone patio, which magically lights up with sparkly lights after dark, is a great place to be in good weather. When the weather starts to cool, the fire pit can extend your outdoor time and add to the romance of your stay!

Deb is a fantastic host for with a magnificent property. The neighborhood is walkable (especially with host recommendations for out-of-towners) and I found it a nice entryway into an otherwise vast and eclectic city. The spot was cozy and welcoming and its top of my list for returning to Portland.
The location was great for me and the house had everything I needed. But I tried to stay away from it because of an odor that I couldn’t bear. I only stayed to shower and sleep. I even called vrbo support trying to get help but it didn’t work out.
Cute place, very clean and comfortable, convenient location! Comfortable beds and nice linens (both are musts for me!).

Great location!
The location was great. The property had everything we needed and was as described. The only recommendation I can make is to invest in some new pillows.

So sorry the pillows didn't work! We appreciate the feedback and would have loved to have the chance to bring you different pillows! We recently removed all the down pillows to help repeat guests with down allergies. There was a memory foam pillow that was too hard for some guests. Now a variety of Ikea pillows make up most of the assortment. I will start asking guests which pillows they like and which they don't like. Thank you for letting us know so we can look into it!

I want Deb to decorate my home!
Our family of five - including three rambunctious kids - adored this Victorian home-away-from-home in PDX. What a delightfully warm and welcoming spot to come back to after a long day at OMSI or in Hood River. All the amenities you could need, plus a spot-on attention to detail in terms of keeping the historic character of the home. Seriously, I want Deb to come decorate our Seattle urban farmhouse! There is a wonderful backyard, complete with rope swing, which our kids loved. Comfy beds, plush towels, laundry, close to restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream parlors. We will be back next time PDX calls! Thank you, Deb!

Thanks, Michelle! And next time you visit I hope to have a portfolio of restaurant and activity suggestions! Apologies for not getting back to you about that. Step-by-step we try to add what we can. Glad to hear your stay went well. We will be adding curtains to the kitchen soon. Still looking for the right fabric. I'll post a photo on the Facebook page when we complete the project! Thank you for staying with us!

VERY GOOD/GREAT LOCATION
This charming apartment was perfect for us; our son lives down the street. It's in a really good location for walking to restaurants, parks, stores, movies etc. and not far from downtown. The neighborhoods in this area are beautiful. The apartment is just as shown on the pictures. The owners are helpful and have done a great job renovating this older home. A lot of extra touches like the terry robe, the fruit and the rope swing in the backyard. We never had a problem finding a place to park on the street. Everything you need in the bright kitchen. Plenty of towels and blankets. Very comfortable beds. We liked staying here and will stay again on our next trip.

Thanks so much for staying with us, Kathy. We look forward to seeing you again!
This is a wonderful home, great location with a very friendly, responsive, helpful host. The house has great character & charm. Would recommend to others and would return here in a heartbeat. Many thanks!
Loved everything about our stay at the Belmont house! Awesome location-close to everything -walking distance. Neat backyard that the kids loved! Super safe and secure. The bed in the bedroom was so comfortable and the room was so peaceful and cozy! Would recommend this spot to anyone! Hope to come back some day soon!!
First time using VRBO, don’t think I’ll go back to hotels. Easy check in! Not the safest neighborhood in Portland but property had locked gate as well. Old house with lots of character with all the modern essentials. Cute bathroom! Great kitchen! Big table in dining/study room to play games on as well as eat… I went with my teenage son… perfect for us. Would be fine for 2 couples that like each other. My only complaint it that the grounds in the back were not cared for very well although that seems to be the way in most areas of Portland… I’m guessing no one likes to rake or blow… it had a cute little patio for 4 right off the back bedroom which we used quite often. The owner Deb was very nice! Another bonus is that it is right above a Dispensary which I visited a few times😎 Highly recommend this listing!
I stayed with my three teenage kids and the suite was perfect. Deb was super helpful in getting us additional bedding when the cousins wanted to sleep together one night and there was more than enough room. The location is perfect with so many great Portland mainstays within walking distance and the backyard was great for socializing in the evening. Highly recommend!
This beautifully restored house had all the modern conveniences we needed, its location was perfect for us, and the owners couldn't have been more helpful. It was just what we needed.
This was one of my best VRBO experiences in a long time. The house is supplied generously, making you feel totally welcome. Deborah is a great communicator and the location is so fun. One of the best parts of Portland.
Great stay, comfy beds, white noise machine helped a lot. Love the antique furniture and original fixtures in the house. Upstairs people were a bit loud, but you can't do anything about that
We loved our stay. My three teen kids and my husband and I stayed two nights. Master bed is so comfy and the Murphy bed was too. Even had a cot set up for our family of five. Kitchen and living area are roomy and well equipped. Everything was really clean, Deborah was great communicating with us. Back yard and patio is adorable and a great place for morning coffee. Neighborhood felt safe. We walked to three different restaurants all that were really yummy.
What a wonderful place to stay in Portland. Deborah’s home is stunning and stylish, but never felt stuffy or impersonal. Deborah was an excellent host and even let us drop off our luggage prior to our check-in time. A complete and utter star. The entire experience was fantastic!
Love the location. It is behind a dispensary which worked out fine for our little family. Street parking, but we never had an issue finding a spot/ no issues with our van being parked out there. Walking distance to so many things in the cute little hawthorn neighborhood. The house is charming & perfect vintage vibes. We have young kids & worried about bothering other renters with their loud feet… Deb was super communicative with us & willing to accommodate a move if it became an issue. Fortunately no one complained & we had a great time. I love that the kitchen is stocked with the dishes & things you need to feel at home. The yard was great for the kids & I love the small connected covered patio. My kids especially loved the nice little touch of cute little hidden Knick knacks animals. Lol great space with rustic charm. Deb was very friendly. :) if you’re looking to immerse yourself in the full Portland feels, this is a perfect place.
This is a very cool and old house, and so it’s kind of an honor to be able to stay in it for a few nights. The house was clean, the bed was comfortable, had everything you needed to make some food, easy parking in the street out front, only a few stairs to get to your room and great Communication with the owner. They were willing to help you with whatever you needed. I would recommend this place.
We rented this property for the weekend so I could be with my Mom on her birthday. The place is lovely, and I particularly appreciated how well stocked it was, and little details like tiny ceramic deer in out of the way places. Will definitely stay here again if it’s available. Also, the neighborhood is wonderful and it was an easy walk to shops and restaurants.

About the host
Hosted by Deb Grant
The 'small city, big town' aspect of Portland is what drew us to Portland 25 years ago. I'm a Montana girl who loves the vibrancy of an urban atmosphere and the culture of both the countryside and the town. My husband Chuck and I have partnered on many projects through the years. He currently lives on site, and I live a mile away. We enjoy working together and have put a lot of love into the Portland Belmont House. We now enjoy sharing it with others.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property because of its location, bones and vibes! 130 years of stories to tell. The rustic concrete counter tops and restored original cabinet (found on the back porch) balance out the vibrant splashes of color and high end appliances of the kitchen. Solar panels, stagger studded walls, and ample insulation look to the future while the 8' wood pocket doors, original fir floors, and intricately carved wood work reveal the past. All new electric and plumbing.
What makes this property unique
The Belmont House provides a quiet, comfortable home stay within a vibrant, fascinating part of Portland. We are 3 blocks from the famous Sunflower Intersection at SE 33rd and Yamhill, a uniquely Portland part of Portland. The house charms people. The great yard, patio, barbecue, (and fire pit too!) make a person feel out in the countryside, yet, only a block and a half away are the shops, world class, affordable restaurants, gourmet grocery stores, food carts galore. Public transportation is a stone's throw away. Drive down the street and you are in downtown Portland in 6 minutes. Everything you need right out your door.
