Extremely clean and well cared for. Plenty of kitchen supplies, owner of property very receptive to questions ect. Really enjoyed walking across the street every morning and sitting on dock drinking coffee & taking pics of the sunrise over the river and mountains. Family of 4 and we had plenty of room to enjoy ourselves in cabin. Tubing down the Shenandoah was fun with kids.
Shenandoah South Fork Cabin
This cabin offers the best of both worlds; seclusion but close proximity to civilization. Kayaking, fishing, tube floating, hiking, beautiful mountain overlooks, the east coast largest Caverns, are just some of the awesome activities to experience while there! The cabin offered a dock I walked down to every morning to witness the magnificent sunrise and watch largemouth and smallmouth bass breach out of the deep pools located in that stretch of river! The owner made himself available to answer any questions and was very knowledgeable! Luray Caverns only 20 minutes away, Shenandoah National Park 35 minutes, South Fork River fishing only 30 yards front the cabin. The cabin has a fully equipped kitchen and 2 furnished bedrooms, 2 upper loft areas with 2 mattresses in each, firepit, horseshoes, canoes (for rent with paddles and life vests) dog pen, also has a fire pit on the Rivers edge with a bench and plenty of seating. The Rivers current was calm enough that our kids enjoyed swimming in it! There are several boat landings throughout the river and one located just 1/10 of a mile from the cabin. We probably saw a dozen people kayaking and or floating down the river the whole week we were there! All in all we all had one of the best times of our lives!! A legendary trip with a plethora of pictures to show and reflect upon one day! A true family vacation!!!
A Great Vacation
We were so excited to gather some of our kids from VA, CA and AZ. We arrived to a clean cabin both inside and out. There were plenty of comfortable sleeping spaces for all 7 of us and the train was not an issue for us at all. The yard looked so nice with green grass and flowers blooming in the planters. This was a nice touch! We took advantage of fishing, tubing, canoeing and hiking. We hiked to multiple waterfalls on the Rose River Trail in Shenandoah National Park. The cabin is centrally located to multiple day trips and the canoes were a hit with our fishermen. We made multiple trips down the river on tubes. We just had to walk a quarter of a mile up the road and float down to the dock. If we return to this area, we would definitely want to rent this cabin again. We had such a fun trip!!!
10 Person Bachelor Party
Could not have asked for a better place for my bachelor party. Slept 10 of us easily (doubled up) and the property was awesome! Super clean, more than enough outdoor space, direct access to the river with a floating dock that was perfect for swimming. The flow of the river is super slow and there is a boat launch about 1/4 mile up the road which is perfect to walk up and float back down.
If you’re in to hiking there are some great trails close by, and the fishing was pretty decent. Would definitely recommend and plan to come back!
Charming but next to the river road
The place and the cabin could be nice if there wasn’t a road between the garden and the river... people drive fast and it is not peaceful for families with children. This situation is not obvious on the pictures and we wouldn’t have rent this cabin if we initially knew.
Moreover, Uphill Behind the cabin there is a railway for merchandise trains and they pass a couples of time a day and early in the morning.
Beyond that the decoration is nice and warm.
Perfect for outdoor activities and yard games nice spot on the river actually caught some largemouth bass along with smallmouth and a catfish river was up and running fast so fishing was a little tough
