Cherry Valley Guest Cottage

We are an established Guest Cottage (since 2008) with 100% excellent reviews at another well-known guest home rental/share site! and I am a designated Super Host and Guest Preferred Property. Finally decided to give VRBO another try!

The extensive Guest Cottage Welcome manual, should answer most questions you have, and you will receive once booked is printed and available for your convenience when you arrive at the Guest Cottage.

Please note that we are a rural Farm setting. We do have chickens, and two roosters whom will greet the morning with their cock-a-doodle-doo's! and, with five acres of farmland, there are bugs, just like most places on earth! so most likely you will see a bug during your stay! If this is intolerable to you, the Cottage may not be for you! 😅 We hire the best housekeepers and they clean and clean and clean, charging more than one night of my rental income, and inevitably an earwig or spider will try to move in to the Cottage! We do have a monthly service spray the perimeter but avoid spraying inside because of sensitivities, pets, children etc.

We have two Guest Cottages on our five-acre property - YOUR fully-furnished Cottage, a serene 2-bedroom, 1.5 bath, newly-renovated rural 1954 Guest Cottage - is completely yours, nestled in the San Gorgonio Mountain foothills at 2,800 ft. elevation.

This Cottage includes a master bedroom with queen bed and private 1/2 bath; 2nd bedroom has one twin bed, and one full bed, plus full bathroom in hallway.

Enjoy your fully-equipped kitchen - pots, pans, dishes, towels, utensils, etc. You will find a self-serve breakfast in the refrigerator, which is provided once on your first day, and may include: our own pasture farm-fresh eggs, butter, coffee, and fresh cream.

AT&T DirectTV plus Fire TV is provided in the bedroom and living room with various streaming channels which you may log into with your private accounts (be sure to log out upon your departure) plus enjoy complimentary Frontier FIOS 500/500 wireless internet.

We are a non-smoking Cottage/property. Thank you kindly for your understanding.

Guest Cottage is 30 miles from Palm Springs (be sure to visit the Living Desert Museum a bit further east); 20 minutes to the town of Redlands; less than 50 miles from Big Bear Lake, including Forest Falls just 20 miles away; and 15-20 minutes to the tranquil mountain town of Oak Glen, with excellent hiking trails! Plus we are less than 50 miles west of the incredible Joshua Tree National Park! which makes for a fabulous day trip. in addition, if you just follow the guest Cottage Street North up through the mountains to Mile High road, you will get a beautiful Vista of the entire valley! just a few miles drive!

NOTE: We do ask that our guests have complete profiles with clear photos, names of each guest planning on staying, and the purpose of the trip. It is very important for us to know a bit about the wonderful guests who are staying at our Cottage, while still maintaining privacy.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Upon departure turn off all the heat/air, all lights, leave keys on the counter by the front door, and press zero on the lock pad as you depart to lock the front door.
Please remove any Trash you may have accumulated as I may not get back to the guest house for a day or two. Tie tightly and put in the trash at the driveway.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
Clean up all pet waste several times daily. Never leave pet unoccupied in the home and always have a leash on pet when walking around the property.

We had a great stay, our host was amazing and very responsive. Sherry went above and beyond for us and we so appreciate her. Her cottage home is lovely and finely decorated. A wonderful cozy cottage with a gem of a backyard. We loved the retro/vintage sink. Everything was welcoming in the cottage and comfortable. Very clean.We didn't need the AC. Nice breeze leaving the doors open and felt secure with the metal screen doors locked. We enjoyed sitting outside in the evening as the sunset. The backyard is a little oasis of nature. So relaxing after a busy day.The host was wonder and responded quickly to my messages.We will definitely stay here again if we are back in the area. I highly recommend.

Highly recommend this beautiful home

This house is so cute and comfortable! I came to town for a work event but the time I spent in the house felt like I was on vacation. The bed was incredibly comfortable, kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with anything you could possibly need. We had breakfast in the backyard, which was gorgeous. It’s rare a house is even better in person than the photos. This place exceeded my expectations. The host was responsive and very accommodating. I rate this a 10/10!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It is very nicely decorated in a country motif. The backyard has many lovely plants and trees, a swing and hammock. I took some time to swing while watching the sunset. In addition, the living room has a terrific sunrise view, which was a great way to greet the day while drinking coffee. Fresh eggs, fruits and veggies from the "farm" were awaiting us in the refrigerator. The only challenge we experienced was lack of hot water in the shower.

We love this cottage!

This is our second time staying at Sherry's cottage, because we enjoyed our first stay so much! The house is clean and spacious, and Sherry really thought of everything to make it a pleasant place to stay. Everything is very comfortable, and my kids (ages 2 and 6) loved the books, movies, and stuffed animals. The outdoor areas are fantastic. We explored orchards and farms in the morning, then spent our afternoons hanging out in the yard. The kids loved playing in all the little nooks and exploring all the plants and garden decorations, and they ate a ridiculous number of walnuts from the tree in the back. Sherry even introduced them to her chickens, which was a huge hit. My 6 year old was absolutely devastated when it was time to leave! The cottage is in a good location as well- easy to get to, and just a short drive to the apple orchards in Oak Glen, with groceries and restaurants a short distance away. We also visited Highland Ranch- less than a 10 min drive- for their "lavender nights", which was lovely. We would definitely stay here again!

Felt like home away from home!

We loved our stay! Everything was immaculate and felt just like home, never had that awkward “we’re sleeping in someone else’s house” feeling. The house was stocked with everything we needed and the host was just a text away. Fresh eggs, orange juice and coffee creamer were in the fridge. We arrived late so she left some lights on and turned up the heat for us. It smelled beautiful when we walked in. The backyard truly reminded me of the secret garden and we really enjoyed it. We will definitely stay here again!

Comfortable, homey rental - we would definitely stay here again

This is an extremely clean and comfortable home. We arrived when it was dark and rainy and the owner had turned on lights for us, warmed up the house and also had music playing when we went in the door. It was very welcoming. We had friends and family visiting and they were also very complimentary of this home. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a rental in this area. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome cottage in Cherry Valley! Perfect for our family of 5&Dogs!

We stayed two nights at this great house in Cherry Valley. It had everything you could possibly need and more. We especially loved the back yard for our dogs and the absolute peace and serenity of the surroundings. We came out here for the sheep shearing festival and felt a million miles away from L.A. which is exactly what we wanted. The place had more than enough room for 5, and the whole vibe of the place is just so relaxing....the hosts have done an amazing job thinking of everything you will need, and we will absolutely be back.....Thank you!

Cute place in a quiet location

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay while visiting relatives nearby. One caveat: though our two-year-old managed to not break anything, this might not be the best place for more rambunctious kids, as there are many breakable figurines, collectables, mirrors, and lamps throughout the home.

Happy, energetic family of four- We continue to travel, but always enjoy getting back home to our own little piece of paradise here in Cherry Valley. After years of working as a civil litigation/criminal law paralegal; photo-journalist for a beach newspaper; and assistant in Hospital Administration, I have settled into a quieter, more serene rural life of gardening, raising our children, coordinating the numerous hospitals wherein my husband provides coverage, and running my little bnb!

Our private residence is one house south of this Guest Cottage, separated by one acre - I am available as little, or as much as you need. Privacy and serenity is our priority during your stay!

What makes this property unique

We own 5 acres of land with three residences, and a newly built two-story barn. Our home was one of the first homes built in this area back in the early 40's, and was used exclusively as a care-takers home for the multi-thousand acres of walnut groves that covered hundreds of acres all around you. Remnants of the original bunk-house/sleeping quarters (used for the migrant workers who gathered the walnuts each fall) still stand on our property. The Guest Cottage was built several years later by a short-hand school teacher and her accountant husband (where they lived until their late 80's before they relocated to Seattle to be closer to their family) and we quickly purchased the property in 1996 as there were rumors that several companies were considering the land to build community storage units..... I think not! : )
