Great location and the house was perfect for our stay. We loved the charm and the owner was very easy to communicate with. We would definitely stay there again!!
It was very cozy, just a little bit old and creaky. The beds were squeaky. There were some bugs and houseflies buzzing around, as well as a mouse squeaking in the walls day and night that made sleeping difficult. The shower heads are very old and not the kind you can move, which makes it harder to shower.
Well equipt. Met all our needs. Convenient location and excellent communication. Plenty of space and beds. Oh and beds were very comfortable. Saw a family of deer upon checking in.
Great house for a base to see different parts of the Adk
The house was perfect for our needs for a long weekend of hiking in different areas surrounding Long Lake, as well as exploring different lakes around the area. It is also conveniently located just down the street from food and gas. We really enjoyed using the fire pit. The kitchen is well stocked with supplies, and at least the large beds that we used during our stay were perfectly comfortable.
Perfect family home. Very clean & comfortable. This is a lovely "cottage feel" home, but large enough for a big family. With three substantial bedrooms, futon, bunks, etc ....could easily sleep 11 people or more. Plenty of linens, blankets & towels too. Fully stocked kitchen w/ dishwasher & huge dining table & W/D makes this a true vacation home. Lots of things to do & space to run around. Less than a mile to the lake & 1/2 a mile to convenience store.
House was quirky but comfortable. We had a chilly, rainy weekend so it would have been better to have heat on the first floor. Hot water in the showers would have been good. Mice droppings in many dishes made us wonder if we had house guests! To be fair, we didn’t contact the owner and we should have. The location was perfect for what we planned to do

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Communication
Cute but old
Old house so I'm not upset by law stair boards or floor boards healed into peaks (just wear slippers so you don't get splinters going to the bathroom)... but the mouse poop is unacceptable. On counters, in the bed between the sheets. Ewww! No response from owner re if there was a shovel around since it snowed overnight. Or re help with getting beat . They did plow the driveway out.downstairs (upstairs was fine and wqrm)
Pleasant stay. Stayed with another couple during Adirondack Canoe classic (90 miler). Totally clean, gigantic dinner table. Great HOT showers after paddling all day. 1/2 mile from Lake.
Great location for exploring the ADKs and cozy evenings
Stayed for a long weekend during Winter Break with the family (2 adults, 2 young children). The house had everything we needed to make our meals, and a *humongous* dining table. The other table was perfect for games and puzzles. Good night's sleep with the beds and pillows. We had a snow storm one day so we did not venture far, but there are plenty of family-friendly hiking opportunities close, and the Wild Center is about 1/2 away for when the snow cleared.
I was a little confused by some of the information on the listing (configure of beds in bedrooms; is there Internet service or not?) but not by anything that was very important. We could not figure out how to use the Nintendo Wii as a DVD player, but we made due since there is Internet service and streaming video worked fine (for our cozy nights).
Erik's house is better than described. Safe, clean and well appointed for anything Adirondacks. The home is roomy, comfortable, has wood out by the fireplace and 5 min walk to Long Lake. I just hiked my 46th Peak and could not have had a better place to rest my feet!
Unique rental property with a great location! We loved having the open shelving in the kitchen to help navigate and find everything we needed. Would definitely stay again!
House was very clean and linens were provided. Very glad they left instructions for the old perk coffee pot. Lots of fresh towels and enough hot water for many showers in the AM. The occasional traffic was a little loud at night, but we turned on fans to drown out the noise and it was not an issue.
Wonderful my place my kids and I can't wait to return to!
My two young kids and I loved it here! The place was very clean and I loved having so many windows to let in the mountain air. It has a very relaxed, peaceful vibe. The beds were very comfy. The photos in the listing are exactly what it looks like in person. There is a big yard for the kids. Even with 3 straight days of rain, we still had fun. The kids played on the front porch and we played darts in the garage. Some reviews mentioned no curtains. There are blinds in all the windows upstairs so privacy was no concern. Another review mentioned a mildewy or damp smell in the garage. It's fine. Unless you're super-sensitive, this is a garage, near a big lake, with fun things to do like darts and foosball. The hardwood floors were beautiful. The dishwasher and washer/dryer were nice bonuses, too! It's in walking distance to the village of Long Lake. We can't wait to go back next summer!

About the host
Hosted by Erik Sandersen
Elizabeth and I (Erik) are social studies teachers in Maryland. We spend a bit of our summer and many breaks in Long Lake and our five children love it. They can't wait to go. We have arranged the home to be inviting to family, and hope others will love their time at the house as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
While the house is not on the water, we hope to have priced it at a level where a family or couple could enjoy a mountain / lake getaway without breaking the bank. We love the privacy, yard, fire pit, garage leisure activities and easy access to all of the beauty and activities of the region.
