About this property

Perfect alternative to expensive hotel room without giving up luxury or location! Beautiful historic building completely renovated with all modern amenities and elevator, the building is completely brand new inside, but with original facade outside on popular Huertas street, extremely close to Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia Museums and the Palacio Real (Royal Palace), in historic downtown center of Madrid, the famous Barrio de las Letras.

The apartment has a very comfortable Queen bed ( 160 cm )
and 2 sofa beds in the living area. The bedroom has 3 walls and is not totally private. You can see it in the pictures.

I have lived in Madrid for the past decade, glad to help you choose the best places to visit in and around Madrid. The apartment is right next to Plaza de Santa Ana. Near Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor and the Museums.

The Metro subway station is a few steps away, so that you may easily move around Madrid, as well as a short walk to the Atocha Main Train station.

Superb location. Great accommodation.

Excellent apartment in prime Santa Ana plaza location. Very safe area. Clean and spacious apartment (best for 2). Easy to walk everywhere you would need in Madrid.

A Perfectly Located Apartment

My wife and I stayed in this apartment at the begging of our three weeks in Spain. Now in the last of our six different stays, we can say that this was a high standard, which we only matched once (in Seville). The apartment was in a perfect position, on the border of the two main centre districts. It was about a ten minute walk to the three major galleries (Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia) and similar walk to Plaza Mayor. The Palacio Real was about 15-20 minutes away. We were surrounded by numerous eating options and felt extremely safe venturing out for dinner (like the locals) after 9pm. The apartment doesn't have any external space (eg balcony or terrace, nor great views, but it is well designed to let in the light, so was bright and airy inside. The kitchen-dining area is small, but adequate and well equiped with the basics. A bottle of wine on the table when we arrived was a nice welcoming gesture. There was plenty of info, maps, etc, so the usual immediate visit to the Tourist Information Office (in Plaza Mayor) could be put off until the next morning. A firm, comfortable, bed and excellent linen made for a very pleasant stay. The ownere, Gorete, wasn't able to meet us on arrivsl - the housekeeper did - but called in to see us during tge stay. Overall a very good accomodation choice, which we would definitely recommend to other couples.

Fantastic apartment

We had 3 nights in this lovely apartment and wished we could stay longer. It is in a perfect location - a lovely tree lined street with lots of busy squares nearby to enjoy a drink or a meal, and very close to a buzzing shopping area around Sol metro station. Very easy to walk to the Prado and many other attractions. The apartment was very comfortable and well equipped and Gorete was a delight to deal with and to meet. Highly recommended as a wonderful place to feel you are living in the vibrant heart of Madrid. Hope we get to return there one day!

Why they chose this property

Location, location, location! This is smack-dab in the middle of the historic Barrio de las Letras (Literature Neighborhood) very romantic, safe and with countless places to eat, people-watch, on a pedestrian street (no traffic).

What makes this property unique

The building was completely gutted a few years ago and they saved the facade and the 100 year old staircase, but everything else is brand-new modern construction and a modern elevator. We have furnished and equipped the apartment with everything we would like to find in a rental, we use VRBO ourselves when we travel so we understand that small details are paramount. Besides, we have lived in Madrid for over a decade, so we are happy to steer you to the best suggestions, whether they are restaurants, site seeing, shopping, trendy restaurants, family places or unique Madrid experiences depending on your date of travel.
