Experience Bald Head Island, an island of extraordinary beauty and character.
Bald Head Island is like nowhere else on earth - there is no bridge connecting Bald Head Island to the mainland, so visitors and residents must arrive by passenger ferry.

With cars left on the mainland, the separation is as psychological as it is geographical; the pace of life slows to that of an electric cart, a leisurely bike ride or just a walk. Fourteen miles of beautiful beaches ring the island, while a winding creek cuts through acres of marshland that border an expanse of pristine semi-tropical maritime forest.

The house is a modestly furnished four bedroom, four bath ocean front home in the award-winning ocean-side community of Flora's Bluff/Killegray Ridge. This home sleeps up to 12 persons and is well equipped for families of all sizes. Spacious living areas, upper and lower porches and two master suites make this home perfect for family vacations.

Both the upper and lower deck have ocean views and the beach boardwalk access is right out the back door.
Common areas in the house are open and airy, with windows all around providing magnificent views from the kitchen, dining and living rooms.

The house has a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, wood burning fireplace, three flat screen tv's, reliable wifi, central heat and air conditioning, telephone, beach and bath towels and bed linens.
You will find a wealth of amenities to make your vacation more enjoyable, including beach sand toys, surfboards, ocean kayaks, boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrellas, numerous games, books, movies and activities for children and adults of all ages.
The house has 2 four-passenger electric golf carts.

Complimentary initial supplies of cleaning products, paper towels and bath tissue are provided at check-in.

Temporary memberships to Bald Head Island Club and/or the Shoals Club are available for an additional fee.

Maura was very responsive leading up to our stay and available for questions during our trip. The house was well stocked with anything we needed in the kitchen and the location was ideal! Clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the surfboards and kayaks that were available at the house and made use of the beach chairs and sand toys!

Great location on the beach! Plenty of space for two families to spread out. Loved having access to the golf carts to get around town. The house included all the beach items you could ever need plus beach towels. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Great House on BHI

This house was one of the best we have stayed at on BHI because of the beachfront location and rent pricing. Great covered porch facing the dunes and quick access on the walkway to the beach were great.

Great beachfront property!

This is a great house right on the beach with porches and decks looking out towards the ocean. Can enjoy beautiful sunsets from the upper porch. Large family room and dining room table to accommodate our family. Loved it and would go again!

No better place for a family trip to BHI

We loved our stay at this rental. The walk to the beach couldn't be closer, and the rental is very well-equipped! As an FYI the high chair doesn't actually fit on the table (just the bar). We'll book it again next year of available!

Christmas delight

Stayed at “Isle Be Back”, wonderful location on South Beach, open concept was family oriented, all amenities needed on site. Golf carts provided mobility for our group to explore and enjoy what Bald Head Island had to offer. Definitely a te-do in future.

Great Stay

We rented the house for my sons wedding on the island. We had kids ranging from 3 months thru adults. The beach access was great! The house was nice, big open living room and kitchen. We had a water main break during our stay and the host was excellent about keeping us in the loop in regards to repairs/water quality. The house is a bit dated but very comfortable for a family

This house is in a good location and has easy accessible to the beach. It has a nice view of the ocean on the top level. The floor plan is nice and spacious but the house is very dated to the point where it needs renovations especially in the kitchen. The refrigerator freeze did not work during our stay and leaked the entire time. The furniture is dirty. The battery on the 2 golf carts run out quickly. The air conditioner in the crofter did not work the first night but was repaired the next day. I will not stay here again.

Worst stay at Bald Head yet!

My family and I have vacationed all over Bald Head for years. This was our worst experience yet! During our stay the crofter air conditioner did not work for more than half the week. When I contacted the owner Poul, his comment was the co-owners were just there checking out the same day we checked in and they said it worked. Finally the air conditioner in the crofter was fixed two days before we left. The neighbor to the right was a Karen and very noisy, not polite noisy but over bearing. And on the last day of check out we were getting ready to leave coming down the stairs and there sat the cleaning crew. Mind you this was around 8:45 to 9:00 am. Worst stay at Bald Head yet!

Family Thanksgiving

We stayed here with family to celebrate Thanksgiving. The location was perfect and the house was just what we had hoped for. It had beautiful views and the owner was very responsive when I had questions. Can’t wait to stay here again!

Absolutely Incredible

First of all, this property was as described in the owner’s description. The house had just about everything (I could not find a high chair)! I especially enjoyed being able to run to the house from the beach to eat lunch, grab a drink, or use the restroom. The master bedroom upstairs has a gorgeous view of the ocean! It was hard to sleep in though since there aren’t curtains on the glass doors to the balcony. The blue golf cart gave us some trouble, it seemed to be a problem with the charger. The white cart was just slow and as soon as your foot comes off the power to slow down, the cart stops. Overall, this was an excellent property! I would take my family again.

Five stars because for the price you can’t beat it- Ocean front. Enough space to easily accommodate 6 adults and 2 kids. Great layout, a big porch, decent mattresses and good water pressure. You’re comfortable, the sound of the ocean is always in your ears, and you are steps away from a gorgeous beach. Life is good. If you value spa-like bathrooms, strong (or any) WiFi, fluffy towels, a clean kitchen, and golf carts with brakes that work, then you wouldn’t give this place 5 stars. The bathrooms are old and yellowed. There is mold in the cracks and the shower doors are hanging on by a thread. The towels are stained. The WiFi is spotty at best and worked about 1/3 of the week. In the pantry you’ll find plenty of “stuff”- bins of strange things- half of a plastic martini glass, a bit of string and a rusty double A battery perhaps? The kitchen is the same, on a larger scale. If you value a knife that cuts anything, bring your own. The drawers are stuffed with every kind of random and utterly useless kitchen tool ever created. The fridge is fine but the ice maker doesn’t work. The microwave handle is glued on. The gas grill is useable because my dad spent nearly two hours cleaning years of blackened, caked-on grime off of it. The lights in the kitchen don’t always work but keep trying- they will eventually. The golf carts are, to put it nicely, “classics”. We came out of the market one afternoon to find the blue one had rolled down the parking lot due to not having a working parking break. The other (orange one) doesn’t have headlights or signals that work. Aside from some modern gray paint and some updated furniture the most of the house is a bit (or a lot) tired and in need of renovations. (Did I mention the the spray painted fixtures in the downstairs bedroom.) Bottom line - if you want new and gleaming and perfect, don’t rent here. You’ll hate it. If you want a great time with your family, the beach at your door, and mostly comfortable accommodations, then you’ve got a 5 star vacation waiting for you.

Fun time !

We had a nice vacation on BHI. House is spacious and bright. Wifi and cable worked well. Beds were very comfortable. House was decorated nicely and we really liked the neighborhood. House is truly beachfront and the walkways make it an easy trek to the beach. House came with many beach items such as chairs, buckets and boogie boards. We cooked a bit and found an abundance of cookware and slices which was very helpful. The carts worked well and held charges without issue. There were no working adult bikes, but those are tough to find right now. The bathrooms and kitchens are a bit dated but perfectly functional but that did not affect our trip. We also liked small touches such as box fans being available in all rooms for white noise and air flow. Didn’t need as fans and AC worked great. Lastly communicating with owner Poul was very easy. He gave me some tips aboit the island too before our stay.

Another Wonderful Trip

This is our second time staying at the house and as always everything was wonderful. Owners are responsive and the house was perfect for our needs—easy beach access, sunset viewing from the top deck, and shady reading and hangout space on the bottom deck.

Blissful stay

Communication with the property owner was very easy and I always received a quick response! You can’t beat the properties location and beautiful sunset sets. There is a peak-a-boo view of the ocean from below but the beach and ocean view from the master bedroom deck is unbeatable. We went to celebrate a very special birthday for my mom and it was so easy to order a cake ahead of time from the market and have it waiting there upon arrival (along with other groceries). Upon arrival you could smell the cleaner and tell the home was well cleaned and sanitized prior to arrival. The home is tastefully decorated with comfortable furnishings. The golf cart(s) were speedy and held a good charge. There was also two coffee makers (regular and keurig) and the kitchen was well stocked. You will enjoy your stay at this property.

It was an absolute dream to be in this house! The location and views are spectacular- on the beach! The house is very spacious and has everything you need! We cooked a ton! Pool, the owner, was so helpful and responsive. I have been renting houses for years and this was by far the best experience!
