The view’s were magnificent , the beach is gorgeous, the property is beautiful and the accommodations were comfy with everything one would need. The property manager was a pleasure to work with. I hope to return again next March.
Wow, I absolutely LOVED the “Shack” and all that it offered….. such tranquility with an incredible view of the water!! I had the most peaceful sleep with the oceans sounds and lovely breeze! It was private and equipped with everything a person could need. My dog and I truly enjoyed our stay in the most beautiful spot on the Cape! Thank you Peter for sharing this wonderful and memorable place!
What a romantic cottage. Amazing views of the sunsets. We are coming back for two weeks in October. We love everything about this place. The two portholes really make it special.
Thank you, Peter and Jane.
Beautiful little cottage tucked away in the dunes of North Truro. Private, peaceful and the cottage was so quaint and perfect. The bed was amazingly comfortable, just loved it.
We had a lovely stay. Our first time to Truro. Pretty sunsets , the outdoor shower overlooking the bay was so lovely. We watched shooting stars on the deck at night. (Meteor shower) It was a particularly hot week, the AC functioned beautifully for our dogs and kept us all very cool and comfortable. (Thank you!!!) The sun beats down on the shack in the late afternoon but the AC felt great inside the house. The street is quiet for dog walking and biking. The property is on the bay , so we had nice sunsets, still a quick drive to the ocean beaches on the National seashore that feel more wild and remote . Sitting on the Adirondack chairs up on the bluff while the sun set and playing ukelele was such a special treat. We hope to return for years to come. Thank you for having us.
Outstanding property....this place won't be for everyone but it was absolutely perfect for us. A small cottage but with everything you need for a contented getaway on the ocean. Loved the secluded feel of the place. This is a gem.
Such a magical place! The owners have captured the essence of old cape cod. The cottage oozes with charm and the location is convenient yet utterly private. And the views from your bed or from the Adirondack chairs perched on the cliff above the beach are incredible. I’ve been coming to the cape for years and only dreamed I’d find a place like this!
This was the perfect getaway for the 2nd week of our vacation after a week with Friends and family. Definitely would recommend if you are looking for a quite place to relax and are looking for that old cape cod experience. My wife and I are definitely interested in returning next year.
We enjoyed our stay tremendously - five days of quietude at the end of March. The Shack is a perfect essential little house, it has everything one needs and clearly things have been put together very thoughtfully over time. There is enough storage, hooks, utensils, the internet was strong, the heating worked perfectly, the views are fantastic, the beach is right there, the weather played along. It was exactly as described and shown in the pictures. Peter was fast, kind and generous in responding to our few questions.
The Shack was cozy and perfect for a quiet getaway! It is in a great location and has spectacular views. You can even see the bay from the bed! The private beach was beautiful and it was perfect for a morning and afternoon stroll. The Shack is a gem and I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area. It is close enough to Provincetown to enjoy all the shops and restaurants but also just off the beaten path enough to avoid the crowds and enjoy some privacy. We look forward to staying again.
A perfect place to spend a week with a spouse and a furry friend. No surprises, all was as described. Three days of rain and wind led to three days of food, wine and reading. Bliss.
We rented The Shack. Exquisite views of the ocean and unbelievable sunsets. Perfectly equipped cottage for two people and very clean. Privacy galore-you can’t see the other cottages from your cottage due to the ingenious and beautiful landscaping. Can’t believe there is another spot on the Cape that one could get the privacy afforded by Lis Sur Mer. The beach was amazing-quiet and very few people. We just returned and are booking for next summer.
Lis sur mer is surrounded by McMansions but you never see them; the beautiful woods protect one on every side, so all you can see is Cape Cod Bay. It is like a little hobbit-hole. "The Shack" which is where we stayed, is tiny but perfect. Make sure you go with someone you love (which we did) and all will be well. But if you want to argue and stomp off into another room, be prepared to go outside. The ship's porthole windows, the ivy growing into the outdoor shower, the view of the bay from the bed....all perfectly lovely.
We had such a wonderful week at the shack. Thank you!

Absolutely unique place to stay on the Cape!
I loved being in the Shack which is exactly as advertised, and frankly exceeded all my expectations. The view from the Shack is absolutely wonderful: out over the bay toward Provincetown and the Long Point Lighthouse. The Shack is wonderfully quiet and private and extremely comfortable. It's very much like living on a boat in that everything is in place and has a place. I was there by myself for 2 weeks working, and I loved waking up to the bay every morning. It was bitter cold for a few days but the Rinai heater did a great job. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to stay there again! Thanks to Netta and Edward and Peter: when I locked myself out because the wind blew the door shut, they were immediately in touch with where to find the spare key, and supplied me with whatever I needed, often before I'd even thought of it. Great people, great place!

Rustic and very enchanting....
We stayed in the Shack and what a treat! We have visited this love nest multiple times over the years - and it never disappoints. When you live on a lake "paradise" year around - It's hard to find a vacation spot - because you are so spoiled. We love the Cape for the simple rustic enchantment of the cottages at Lis Sur Mer - and of course - for the delicious seafood.
The Shack is where you might go to find inspiration for writing that novel you always knew you could write. It's one of our favorite places in the whole world. We like to frequent some of the same restaurants and shops each visit - and it's pretty remarkable how accepted we have become by the locals.
We take our indoor cats along and hang a finch sack on the pine bough outside the windows overlooking the ocean. They love watching as the birds come and go, and we call it "Bird TV". They end up loving the Cape at least as much as we do!

A Captivating Adventure
Firstly, the composition of land and sea are charming unto themselves. The colors of the sea on the bayside are truly mesmerizing. Their infinite tonalities had me riveted from morning until night. As a visual artist, the location was a daily feast. I am eager to return to all the charisma that presents itself. Whilst there, I read a book entitled "Salt House" by Cynthia Huntington who for many years inhabited a dune shack. The book was in The Shack to be enjoyed by residents. I found it to be inspiring. It complemented my stay in a keen manner. I am grateful for the magnetic beauty I encountered as a guest.

About the host
Hosted by Jane Romney
Your host is an entrepreneur in the arts who has spent the last 40 years traveling internationally for business. While his stateside base is most often New York City, he has taken every opportunity in his travels to seek refuge in quaint European villages. His appreciation of these historic havens was a great part of the inspiration for Lis Sur Mer.
Why they chose this property
Lis Sur Mer was originally an exclusive family compound and retreat until 15 years ago when he began opening it up to visitors. With Lis Sur Mer he has created a storybook compound renowned for its privacy, romance and renewal. Built from the fruits of the sea and recycled building of past centuries, inspired in part by the concept of the famous artist dune shacks of Provincetown, the aesthetic is a French fishing village mated with Old Cape Cod. Visiting Lis Sur Mer is an adventure in escaping modern frenzy and McMansions, getting back to the basic joy of natural beauty with extraordinary gardens, awe at every vista, and total cultural refuge. At the same time high speed internet and HD TV quietly co-exist. There is no place on Cape Cod like Lis Sur Mer. The word most often used to describe Lis Sur Mer is “magical” … Bring your inner artist.
