Sommer in Vence 2024

Lovely stay with a few 'buts'
The owner was friendly, very pleasant and helpful. She welcomed us on arrival and was available throughout our stay, giving helpful suggestions on local events and places to visit.
On arrival, the standard of cleaning was not up to our expectations and we spent the first few hours cleaning. The host did admit that she had rushed the cleaning as we had arrived in the town (not at the house) early. However, it should have been much better and all areas should have been cleaned and checked before we moved in. The decor and furnishings were quite tired. The Wi-Fi worked well in the main part of the house. Air conditioning was available in the two (main) upstairs bedrooms; an air conditioning unit and a fan were available in two of the other three bedrooms. These downstairs bedrooms were damp and needed the dehumidifier (which was in one of the bedrooms) to be on all the time.
The house is very large and the grounds equally spacious and well maintained. It is great for families and entertaining. The swimming pool was regularly cleaned and well used by our family. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the beds were comfortable. It was obvious from the personal belongings in all areas of the house, including many wardrobes, that this was the owner's house. There was plenty of hot water. Only one shower was a proper, stand in shower; for two you had to hold the shower hose and the shower head on the fourth was too low for those taller than 155cm.
The property is located in a quiet, exclusive residential area, a 10 minute drive or a 20 minute walk from the centre of Vence, a 30 minute drive from the centre of Nice/airport and within an hour of Monaco. Therefore, ideal for those who wish to stay at the property or visit the local attractions.
We had a great family holiday, but unfortunately, the standard of cleaning will always mar our memories.
A beautiful property. Lots of places to sit in the garden. Good social spaces. Ideal for adult groups looking for areas to socialise and areas to be on your own.

An idyllic location on the Cote D'Azur
The ambience and the location of the property is wonderful. The area around Vence is beautiful and has easy access to other historic towns in the area which are all quite special, I particularly enjoyed Valbonne. The choice of restaurants and quality of food in the area is excellent. The city of Nice has many different attractions - the flower market being a highlight of my trip. I felt I could go back and explore the area as it has so much to offer.

Hidden Gem in Cote d'Azur
This is truly a hidden gem. Tucked away in the medieval village of Vence, within close distance to the village (about 1.5 miles) and yet far enough for privacy, this villa can transform in whatever you want it to be. I had the pleasure of experiencing dinner parties, Sunday Brunch, music, dancing, singing, cooking lessons, hiking in the beautiful forest near by, as well as curling up and relaxing next to the fireplace with a nice glass of wine. I love the convenience of the location, as the villa is only 20min from Nice and the stunning beaches of the French Riviera, the Nice airport, maybe 7min from the famous St. Paul de Vence with it's eclectic art galleries, another 30min from Cannes, Monaco and 45min from the Italian border. It's in a perfect location that mixes the old world with the new. The medieval village with a state of the art, lifestyle shopping center just 10min away that has restaurants, movie theater, casino and all the stores you could want.
As beautiful and comfortable as the villa is, what separates this villa from any other property is the hospitality, warmth and graciousness of its amazing host, Asa! Couldn't have experienced a lovelier time and will definitely be back.
Warmest Regards,

Lovely atmosphere, quite location, near villages
Super villa with a nice vibe, even at Christmas when we stayed. Very spacious so you can do your own thing if you're two families. Very close to the medieval villages of Vence and Tourette-sur-loup (think St Paul de Vence without the tourists). Lovely meandering gardens, Lots of bedroom with balconies. Very well equipped. Clean and well maintained. Lovely Swedish touches from the owner who clearly has good taste.

wonderful relaxing 2 week holiday
Last summer we rented the villa with another family, and had the most wonderful relaxing 2 week holiday.
The villa is large light and spacious with several terraces, we could all enjoy quiet reading time or sunbathing. My favourite was the hammock in the garden under a huge shady tree.
The villa is well equipped my husband loved cooking on the huge open plan kitchen it really was home form home!
All the beds was king size with high quality linen and lots of lovely pillows.
Vence is a superb town with lovely restaurants and really buzzy, great for the grand children to run around in the old town with no cars to worry about. Walking distance from town was a pleasant 20 minuets walk through the country side
As the owner also runs the villa as a B&B off season we returned this year on our own in April. weather was a bit chilly but lovely to returned to a place with fireplace lit to a candle lit, home cooked dinner in the evenings. Highly recommended, we will be back to Villa Phoebe!!!

French Idyll
I enjoyed a fantastic 4 days with my 3 friends. The property is exactly what we were looking for and our hostess was extremely helpful and charming.
We chose to eat dinner at the Villa on several occasions as the food was so great!
A terrific home from home but with the advantage of being set in stunning French countryside. We enjoyed long walks, sun-bathing around the pool or down on the Cote d'Azure and leisurely drives.
All in all it was a delight

Villa Phoebe, Vence, France
I have just returned from a wonderful short break on the Cote d'Azur where I stayed at Villa Phoebe in Vence. It is a beautiful villa, open plan, light, spacious, very nicely furnished in a mix of contemporary and traditional styles. The Wood burning fireplace and plenty of candles in the sitting room area provided for warm and cosy evenings after the day's sightseeing and wonderful lunches. The bedrooms are well furnished also and bathrooms are plentiful. We visited the very pretty town of Valbonne with it's Friday market, and had lunch at one of the restaurants in the main square- excellent food. We also went to Le Rouret, a small village approx 20 mins drive from Vence and had a delicious lunch at Le Clos- € 38 per head for a three course Michelin star quality lunch- can't beat that! On our third day we were invited to lunch in Cannes- approx 30 mins drive and the weather throughout our stay was mostly sunny and approx 14-16 degrees in the daytime- amazing for January.
Villa Phoebe in Vence is well worth booking for either short or longer breaks. There is a swimming pool and lovely terrassed sunbathing area as well as large garden for the warmer weather- we will certianly be booking Villa Phoebe again.

Most relaxing beautiful week
We were 2 families with children and had the most amazing time in Villa Phoebe. We were looked after beautifully. The house was large and spacious and perfect for our children. We could see the pool from most angles which gave us piece of mind with our children running around. I can't wait to return and have already booked my next holiday next August. Vence is a lovely town with great restaurants and no traffic. All in all we had a fabulous time and would highly recommend this villa to anyone.
About the host
Hosted by Asa Hanna
I'm Swedish and my husband English, we bought this villa with a Scandinavian feel to it in 2001. We loved the open plan living and the fact that sun shines in all day long and with huge windows overlooking the large garden and pool. Our 3 children went to the local school in Vence that was just a 15 minuets walk away.
Why they chose this property
The villa was Sunny and so different to the local rather dark provincial villas The town of Vence was a excellent place with all its history and shops bonus was it was in the country but just 15/20 minuets from Nice airport.
What makes this property unique
The space of the villa makes it so wonderful and the large flat garden such a bonus. The villa is in a oasis of calm mature gardens, away from noise and people but just a 3 minuets drive to the town of St Pail de Vence/ Vence with its wonderful views over the Riviera Short distance to the town of Vence, with plenty of restaurants and museums. The large supermarket is just a 5 minutes drive away.
