About this property

Luxury Self Catering Cottage in Historic Village Setting in the Forest of Dean

A wonderful opportunity to stay in the picturesque village of Newland situated within a conservation area. The Coach House is well located and equipped to a very high standard for a self catering holiday. The Property is suited for active or relaxing breaks all year round. Walk or cycle from the door. The Ostrich Inn is 100 Metres away. We aim to provide a luxury venue to relax and enjoy the surrounding area.

We have been awarded 5 stars Gold award from Visit England with the new addition of a fully refurbished Kitchen in 2018.

The Accommodation is accessed via a conservatory suitable for storing coats, muddy boots and dogs. There is also covered bike storage and outside washing facilities for cleaning bikes and a warm tap for the dogs!

Inside there are two reception rooms. The upper lounge offers a seating area with flat screen television and ipod speakers, plus a dining area with seating for eight. There is also a book case with a selection of local books and maps.

The whole property is serviced by High Speed Broadband

The fully equipped and refurbished in 2018 kitchen with Nespresso coffee machine, bread maker, two ovens and Induction hob.
Separate laundry room are both accessed from the upper lounge.

The comfortable lower lounge contains an open fire and a further seating plus another flat screen television.

Sleeping accommodation is provided by 3 large bedrooms. Each room is individually furnished to the highest standards with 300 count cotton linen - 2 bedrooms are upstairs and one is accessed from the ground floor. The bedrooms consist of one twin, one double and one with the option of being either a twin or a double.

There are two bathrooms – one on the ground floor with w.c., hand-basin and shower and a second on the first floor with w.c., hand-basin, double-ended bath plus a large separate shower.

All rooms are centrally heated and there is free wi-fi internet access for those who do not want to entirely leave behind the world of technology.

THE WHOLE PROPERTY IS NON-SMOKING and NON-VAPING

The outside courtyard is a secluded with a seating area with a BBQ and mature garden plus off road parking for one car and covered bike storage. Further free on road parking available. Enjoy dining alfresco in the pretty courtyard, or simply sit back and relax with a glass of wine whilst listening to the owls in the nearby trees.

Our stay at the Coach House was wonderful. It is in an ideal location to have many days out to explore local attractions without ever needing to drive more than 20 minutes. Everything that we needed was already provided (including a wonderful cake on arrival!) so it was really easy to relax early on. We had 3 cars with us and were able to find ample parking with one on the drive and two on the nearby road. If you don't fancy driving there are some nice local walks you can do (instructions provided at the property) and the local pub do a fantastic fish and chips on a Friday.Alison was a brilliant communicator and anticipated most of our questions before we needed to ask as it was all included in the information pack she provided. Any questions we did have were answered quickly.One thing that stood out to us compared to other places we have stayed is that the Coach House felt like it had been given the same level of care as if the owners lived there themselves - everything in the house was good quality and no corners had been cut.Thank you Alison for helping us have a wonderful break!

Great place to stay

Very comfortable and well equipped cottage. Very helpful owners live next door. Quiet village - Ostrich pub serves great food. Good location for sightseeing in the area - Forest of Dean, Monmouth etc.

My husband and I stayed in property for a week along with my sister and her husband. The property was laid out such that one bedroom and bath were downstairs away from main living area and the remaining two bedrooms and bathroom were upstairs. This worked well for us because it gave us our own areas and privacy. Allison was wonderful leaving us a homemade cake and later some more baked goodies. Communications with Allison were wonderful and she was always very quick to reply to my queries. Kitchen was well stocked with up to date appliances. Large dining table for us to spread out. Water pressure in bathrooms was very good! Beds were soft but comfortable. Things to note: there are quite a few stairs in the property. The stairs going upstairs but also stairs down to a second sitting room then back up a few stairs to the downstairs bedroom. The bathroom downstairs is also very dark. My sister wished she had brought a lighted makeup mirror.Property is directly opposite a churchyard so churchbells ring throughout the day however, this was not bothersome to us in the least. There is not much else in the village other than a small local pub, The Ostrich. Very good food but hours seemed to be sporadic with openings sometimes in afternoon and sometimes in evening. There are walking trails around but we didn't think they were very scenic. Better to drive to other trails.We enjoyed our stay using it as a base to explore and would definitely recommend staying here!

We just had a 4 night stay but it was a very pleasant experience. The Coach House is well laid out, especially for two sets of families. The beds are comfortable and the whole property is clean. It is ideally situated for walking locally and for visiting the sights.

Friends reunion in beautiful setting

This is a beautiful house in a picturesque village surrounded by stunning countryside. The house is really well equipped and comfortable with plenty of space for everyone. We did country walks from the house on both days we were there and the scenery was spectacular - there is so much to explore and enjoy in this area. I would thoroughly recommend this property and hope we might return there in the future.

Beautifully comfortable and well equipped.

It was lovely to have space and all the comforts of home. A lovely welcome pack with great cake to help us into our stay.followed by friendly people in the area who all chatted and make us feel comfortable. 40 mis to Cardiff straight along dual carriageway and many places of interest in the near vicinity.

Delightful cottage

A lovely furnished cottage with plenty of space for a family. Spotlessly clean and and furnishings very comfortable. Only drawback for us was that both double beds had soft mattresses, especially the main bedroom!!! Otherwise, perfect in every way!!!

Perfect property and location

My wife and I needed a good sized property located for easy access to the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. This property is perfectly located in a quiet village within easy reach of excellent walks and cycle routes. The Coach House is comfy, well equipped and in a quiet spot. The pub nearby did good food and is within 2 minutes walking distance. Overall a superb spot. The owners were on hand for enquiries and were very helpful.

Spacious and well equipped plus delicious cake!

A great base to explore the area from. The best equipped self-catering kitchen I've come across. Large bedrooms, great showers and enough living space to spread out and do your own thing if wanted (handy when holidaying with older children/teens). The only potential downside we found is that there are steps up and down throughout plus varnished wooden treads on the stairs, so it's a bit tricky for anyone who's less steady on their feet. Other great benefits of staying here include a delicious cake, speedy broadband and an electric car charge point.

Lovely getaway

A lovely house to stay in, for four OAP friends. We met up for lunch in the Ostrich and visited the church on our forst afternoon. We got out to Symonds Yat on our first full day and enjoyed sitting in the garden chairs in the late afternoon. The kitchen was easy to use, as we self catered for two nights. We visited Tintern Abbey on the next day and watched a falconry display, and then treated ourselves to a meal at the Ostrich on our last night. All very delightful things to do while we were there and we felt so at home, going back to the Coach House each day. Highly recommended.

Wunderschönes Cottage

Wir haben als sechsköpfige Familie unseren zweiwöchigen Urlaub im Coach House verbracht. Das Cottage ist total gemütlich, großräumig, detailverliebt und hat uns und unseren 4 Kindern absolut ausreichend Platz gegeben. Es ist alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Die Küche ist super gut ausgestattet, der Esstisch im Wohnbereich sehr groß. Es gibt zwei Wohnzimmer mit Couch, Sesseln und zwei Fernsehgeräten, zwei Badezimmer, davon eins mit Wanne, einen Kamin und 3 Schlafzimmer mit viel Platz. Im Cottage stehen zahlreiche Flyer mit Ausflugsmöglichkeiten zur Verfügung. Sogar Spiele und Bücher stehen bereit. Im unmittelbaren Umfeld gibt es zahlreiche Aktivitäten für Familien. Wir konnten unseren zweiwöchigen Urlaub gut füllen. Besonders erwähnenswert ist, dass Alison uns am Anreisetag ein sehr leckeres Abendessen gekocht und einen Kuchen gebacken hat. Als wir nach 10 Stunden Anreise aus Deutschland angekommen sind, war der Tisch bereits gedeckt und das Essen war fertig. Für den folgenden Tag hatte uns Alison bereits das Frühstück eingekauft, sodass wir als Großfamilie ganz entspannt ankommen konnten. Vielen lieben Dank dafür. Wir haben uns sehr herzlich Willkommen gefühlt und können das Coach House jedem empfehlen, der einen entspannten Urlaub verbringen und die Natur genießen möchte.

Excellent séjour, maison très agréable et très bonne accueil de Alison.

Super maison pour des vacances en famille. Trois très grandes chambres. Et tout pour 6 personnes. Parfait pour des randonnées en forêt, pour visiter les villes de la région, pour profiter des pubs. Nous conseillons à 100%.

Everything you need

Everything you could need was thought of and provided in the property. Plenty of equipment in the kitchen, so anything you needed had been thought of! Plenty of space, sitting areas, board games and 2 tvs. It was also lovely and cool inside when temperatures outside were in the 30s. Beautiful church opposite and a village pub within walking distance

We have been providing our self Catering Coach House for rent for 17 years and have throughly enjoyed meeting new people and hearing of their experiences whilst exploring the Forest. We and our dogs enjoy walking/cycling and general relaxation in this quite area.
