We really enjoyed our stay. The house is perched on the side of a hill with the most amazing views. Swallow and swifts were zooming around outside - really beautiful. The interior of the house is very tastefully decorated. Highly recommend this property.

Thanks for taking the time to review the house Louise and we’re delighted you enjoyed your stay.
We had a lovely off season stay in Pouzols-Minervois. The apartment is exactly as indicated, beds very comfortable, and tons of hot water. Our hosts were very responsive when small things needed fixing (burnt out light bulb for ex) and we had a lovely tasting of their wines.

We spent 5 wonderful weeks in this charming house, exploring the region, sampling the food and wines and learning about its rich history and culture. The house is really comfortable and Juliet was a really helpful and informative host.

If you’re looking for a quiet and cozy apartment, this is the place for you. Best sleep we got in the entire trip. Great location for exploring especially Narbonne and Carcassonne. Beautiful drive to the coast too.
Parking is just down the hill. Be aware that there are lots of stairs and quite a bit of climbing.

Thanks very much for leaving a review Rosemary. So glad you enjoyed your stay.
We really enjoyed our all too brief stay in this lovely property. Set in a medieval village with views over vineyards this was a perfect start to our holiday. The interior has been renovated with charm and attention to detail. A good kitchen with plenty of crockery and cutlery made eating in a pleasure. It was a delight to re-vist this part of France again.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We loved the central location for exploring the region by car, but also hiked in the nearby forest by foot from the house and drove to wineries, nearby villages, and several beaches recommended by the hosts.
Kitchen is well equipped for making meals at home and enjoying on the patio with a glorious view, but there are also some fantastic restaurants in adjacent villages.
Our host was very responsive to any questions. The highlight for us was meeting our host and touring their winery.
Juliet and Simon have done a wonderful job restoring this historic home. It is very characterful but also comfortable with a good, well equipped kitchen, good beds and linen and nice bathrooms. The terrace which overlooks the valley is very private and sheltered and a lovely place to sit and take in the expansive views. Juliet and Simon are generous and welcoming hosts. Very highly recommended.

Everything was fantastic
It was such a privilege to stay in house dating back to medieval times, beautifully renovated to a very high standard and spectacular views from every room. the owners are lovely and provided everything to make our stay fabulous including a welcome gift of wine and gourmet delicacies. Short walk to the village shop/cafe for bread & croissants and within 10 minutes drive to major supermarches. Excellent location within easy driving distance to delightful villages along the Canal du Midi and also larger cities Carcassone & Beziers. Thank you for everything, definitely one of the top 5 places we have stayed in all over France

Great location!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Pouzols-Minervois. The photos and descriptions given on HomeAway are completely accurate but cannot capture the marvelous character of the house and the picturesque medieval village. The house had everything we needed - a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, hot shower, and fabulous views.
We enjoyed meeting Juliette and visiting her vineyards and winery. We found many interesting places to visit in the nearby area, in fact more than we had time for. A return visit will be necessary and we won’t hesitate to stay here again.
Thanks for everything, Juliette!

Thanks very much for your kind comments Howard and Joan. We loved having you as guests and hope to see you again the next time you come to France. A bientôt! Juliet
This is a light, bright, comfortable and quirky house. It almost feels like a secret house, being part of the ancient fort, and cocooned in this lovely village, yet once inside one enters into a south facing light filled house, with a nice sunny terrace. It is arranged over three floors, with slightly challenging staircases, so those with mobility issues would find it difficult. The house is spotlessly clean and comfortable and we would have no reservations about recommending it as a good base for exploring the area.

Dear Andrew and Julia. Thanks very much for your comments about the ‘secret house’ in Pouzols. Love the description ! So glad you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes Juliet and Simon
The listing accurately describes the property. It has been nicely renovated for a relaxed stay. The kitchen is spacious enough that two cooks can stay out of each others' way! All appliances function well and are easy to figure out. The view from the terrace is lovely and relaxing.
My wife and I had friends join us at the gite for the first two nights of our rental and it was a pleasant surprise to find that the layout of bedrooms and bathrooms provides good separation and privacy for each couple. Keep in mind that there are many stairs (it was once a medieval fort, after all) and that one needs to be quite spry to access the uppermost bedroom.
Pouzols is a quiet village and lacks tourist facilities but it is a very easy drive to the many good restaurants in the surrounding area. A full service Intermarche is only 8 minutes away.
Juliet very kindly met us at her winery on a Saturday evening and we stocked up on her lovely wines. Sitting on the gite's terrace in the evening is the perfect place to enjoy her rose!

Dear Francisco. I’m sorry you had an uncomfortable stay due to the heat. We provide fans but during a heatwave when daytime ´temperatures are 40°C I accept it is not enough. We plan to install air conditioning in the bedrooms for next season. Sorry again for your experience. I hope you enjoyed the wine.
Die Küche top, enthält alles, was man braucht. Alles sehr gepflegt.

About the host
Hosted by Juliet and Simon Ingman
Juliet and Simon are originally from the UK and moved to the beautiful Languedoc region in 2004. Juliet is a Master of Wine and wine educator and loves communicating her passion for the region and its wines. Simon renovates historic houses and also his small collection of classic cars and motor bikes. Together they make wine at their family vineyard Domaine La Tasque in the neighbouring village of Mailhac.
Why they chose this property
We have lived in the Languedoc since 2004 and love the relaxed way of life here and the beautiful scenery. We finally settled in the village of Mailhac but have always liked Pouzols and know it well as our daughter went to school here. So when we heard that a house was available for sale in the oldest part of the village, we had to have a look. We have renovated several properties over the years, some of which have been in a sorry state of repair and required lots of imagination! This house just felt right, the minute we walked through the door. Although it needed updating, (there was no bathroom) it was easy to see how it could be restored to its former glory. Restoring it has been a pleasure and we love it when our guests appreciate it as much as we do!
What makes this property unique
The views from the house are very special, particularly on a clear day when you can see the Pyrenees. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine, watching the sun go down over the mountains is a joy.
This house has oodles of character. The walls are 2 feet thick and there are stone walls or stone detailing in the kitchen, first floor bedroom and the sitting room which. It is charming and a bit higgledy piggelty. Nothing is quite straight. If you like straight lines and a sleek, modern look then this house is probably not for you. However we have restored it with our guests comfort in mind so it has all mod cons.
