Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, listing accuracy
Disliked: Communication
House was good. Garden was exceptionally messy, village was not good if you want to eat, you need to
The property was well cleaned and very well equipped . There was proper supplies of cleaning products , kitchen was well equipped and it felt like home away from home . There was plenty of pet supply as well although we carried everything with us and did not had to use but for future that we don’t need to pack so much for our boy . The fans in each room and the ceiling fan in living area was very helpful . Over all it was very good experience .
A very cosy, clean property that was a pleasure to stay in. Some lovely touches (pint of milk on the fridge, some complimentary dog food for our pooches etc) that made the whole weekend pleasure. A perfect set up for a family (the twin are two low to the ground kids beds so we didn't need a cot for our 2 yr old, though that would also have been provided!), with a good little garden, selection of toys (for kids and dogs) and easy to explore the the cotswolds. Thank you very much!!!
Apart from parking being a bit limited the accommodation was clean warm and a great location for visiting Oxford and the surrounding area, would recommend staying here to anyone. Very good communication from host and very accommodating thank you.
We found this charming accommodation neat and tidy. The location allowed us to visit Cotswolds destinations and Stone Henge as well as spending time in Oxford. We are happy to recommend this VRBO
This is a small flat in a starter-home housing estate in a small commuter village serving Oxford. We've stayed in other rentals in the Cotswolds and there are much better places available for similar cost.
Pros: Dog friendly, kid-friendly, clean, useful small back garden
Cons: No mobile signal (on EE at least), almost no water pressure in shower, TV works poorly, double bed uncomfortable and saggy, over-stuffed with furniture makes it feel even smaller, no shop or grocery nearby.
Overall, the property had a small, cramped feeling, and gave the impression that it was set up with two goals: 1) minimize fitting out expense, and 2) tick as many boxes as possible in online listing features (washer/dryer, dishwasher, etc). We went for a weekend visit to Blenheim Place, and the property served its purpose as a place to stay, but compared to other properties we've used in the Cotswolds, this is neither a charming cottage or a charming village.
Helen was efficient to deal with and generally responsive on communications, though it was difficult to communicate with her while we were at the property due to lack of any mobile signal, and the landline phone is locked down and restricted to outgoing calls only to a specific set of pre-programmed numbers.
This is not a bad or poorly managed property, it's just that guests should know what to expect, and the listing made it look much bigger, less cluttered and more charming that we found it to be upon actual viewing.
Comfortable, cosy house. Ideal for our needs but the best was very dog welcome.

well appointed property but trying to contact owner impossible
The property was very clean, well presented and equipped.
The drawback was trying to get in touch with owner. Before we went we did not have house number and eventually had to go through Homeaway as the owner would not respond to emails.
Whilst at the property, we found wifi was not working. We needed it to work while staying at property. Again owner would not respond to phone calls, emails or texts. Again we went through Homeaway and eventually problem was sorted . This took about 36 hours.

All the details regarding the location of the property can be found within the “Hospitality” section of the website.
In respect of the WiFi this had been upgrade to “Fibre” using a new supplier to in order to provide guests with a better quality internet access. The line had been transferred, but unfortunately the new hub that had been sent was faulty. Something I was not aware of when it had been set up.
I apologies for not responding to communications sooner, but for part of the time I also happened to be away on holiday and mobile phone signal and internet connection was nearly non-existent.

Our second visit
It's our second visit to this property. Helen is a very good host and the property is immaculate and well maintained. I do a lot of cooking and she provides every utensil, pot and pan that I needed.
It's a beautiful area and Witney is a lovely town with everything you need, whilst maintaining its quaint beauty. Not to mention that Oxford is only 8 miles from the house.

Harvey's Cotswold Retreat
We stayed here when my daughter had a work experience at Williams F1. My first impressions on arrival were that it looked small and that the parking outside would be ample for a car but I have a Vito! But we did actually manage with no problems.
Inside, the property was absolutely immaculate. They lay-out was conducive to a very comfortable living and dining area. The kitchen was small but stocked with every utensil/appliance that you could need. Helen knew I had dogs and there was a water bowl with fresh water and complimentary dog treats and biscuits - so thoughtful. Oh, there was box with dog toys in the living room too.
Infact the whole house was filled with thoughtful extras such as games for children and/or grown ups. There were dvds, books toys etc. The cupboard under the stairs was a little aladins cave!
We couldn't get the downstairs TV to work but within 5 minutes of making a phone call, someone arrived to sort it out. He also provided details of local walks for me to take the dogs on.
The bedrooms were both really good sizes and very comfortable. It was lovely to have the enclosed garden too. There wasn't a shop in the village but Eynsham was just a couple of minutes away by car and Witney was about 10minutes.
The location was perfect for exploring the Cotswolds and Oxford was about 10 miles away.
Literally the only thing that was a slight downside was the kitchen and bathroom were on the small side but were functional- which ultimately is all we wanted !

Nice holiday property
Small but nice, rural. I must admit that since we were travelling from abroad we were a bit disappointed with the lack of towels for showers. Other than that - oh, the downstairs television wasn't working (not that we needed it0.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you were unable to get the television downstairs to work, as we checked it and it was working fine. In future if there is a problem please telephone us and we will endeavour to resolve the problem.
The property is listed as "self-catering" and I do clearly state that although we do provide bedding, guests do need to bring their towels.
About the host

I moved to west Oxfordshire about 20 years ago from West London and to live with my then fiancé and have remained in the area. In 2006 we moved to Witney
Why they chose this property
The village is only a short distance from my own home and I have as much to do with my neighbours here as I do at home. The dog and I both love the garden and will spend more time here than at home when the opportunity arises as it is so peaceful! (Although seeing a hot air balloon come into sight from behind did startle both me and the dog)!
