Our holiday home in the tiny rural hamlet of Groslier is the ultimate getaway. A converted farmhouse, the property commands stunning views across the beautiful landscape of the Auvergne. It’s a perfect base for exploring this wild and beautiful part of France: nature is on your doorstep so you don't need to go far to experience the impressive array of flora and fauna on offer. There are numerous towns and villages to explore, many with impressive Medieval and Romanseque architecture. The Auvergnats are proud of their culture, so there are plenty of fairs, musical events, shows and exhibitions to choose from. Restaurants in the area offer a superb cuisine based on wonderful local meats and cheeses, and for the adventurous there's a cafe renowned throughout France for its lunches of frogs' legs! The house is in a popular area for walking and cycling and is not far from picturesque lakes for boating and swimming.
The house is spacious and well equipped, with the living space on the first floor to take best advantage of the fabulous views. There are three bedrooms, two double rooms on the ground floor, sharing a bathroom, and a large family room on the second floor with its own bathroom. The first floor is a light open plan living space with a fully fitted kitchen, comfortable lounge with log burning stove and dining area.
The property benefits from WiFi, UK FreeView and French TNT Sat TV, electric radiators in every room, dishwasher, washing machine and cooling fans.
The house is surrounded by two acres of land, mostly laid to meadow. There is a terrace with patio furniture and a barbecue for guests to use. Access to the house is via a fairly steep drive, but there is ample parking for multiple vehicles. The house is at a fairly high altitude of 1,100m in a very rural area up a winding country lane - ideal for more adventurous cyclists!
