Completely renovated in 2012, this XVI th century house is a typical regional house with a "troglo" room (in the rock).

Renovated by a team of local specialised builders using traditional techniques under the responsibility of a certified architect, the Tortue de Leonardo offers you all modern equipments and comfort in a traditional and historical place.
Located against the hill between the Chateau d'Amboise and the Clos Lucé (where da Vinci lived his last years), la Tortue is a jewel made of tradition and peacefullness in one of the most attractive town in France.

Professionally decorated, la Tortue will allow you to relax in a region made of tradition and history. Indeed, on top of the many castles (Amboise, Chenonceau, Chambord.....) you will have the possibility to discover le Clos Lucé, the Chanteloup Pagoda, the Touraine Aquarium, many wine producers and for the more adventurous tree climbing, Kayak, hot air balloons....

Amazing location, we had a family stay here and the house had its quirks which we loved, eg the spiral staircase and overall history of the property.It is a short walk to town and the kids had a great time.

Lovely stay at La Tortue

We had a lovely stay in Amboise.Parking was a bit tricky due to renovations but, the place was charming & close to all the sites we wanted to visit.The cave felt too moist to sleep in but, a cool feature.

Great place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay. Paul was great to work with in dealing with some technical problems in the booking and reservation process. Very good restoration of a charming 16th century home. All three bedrooms(including the "troglo" room) are spacious. The property is clean, well designed and comfortable. The location is superb, steps from the Clos Luce and a short walk to the Chateau and many restaurants, patisseries and a traiteur. Parking was convenient, close and free. While located right on the street (one way) traffic and noise were not a problem. It was nice to sit in the living room with the window open and see lots of folks walking by and admiring the architecture and our cozy situation. (some obviously envious!) Twin room on top has a toilet and sink, some low beans (which add to the charm and a great place to hang clothes). Queen on first floor has a bath with toilet and shower outside the room and is huge. Trog room has shower in room and toilet located off courtyard. Kitchen small and well equipped. Keypad entry was great as we were 3 couples so everyone had access without having to worry about keys. Spiral wooden steps were charming but might be challenging for less mobile older adults. Easy internet access. Highly recommend this gite.

Nous avons passé 5 jours avec nos deux grands enfants à la Grande Tortue. La maison est superbe, très bien équipée et décorée, d'une propreté exemplaire, et idéalement située. C'est un cocon dans lequel on a grand plaisir à rentrer après une longue journée de visites! Le propriétaire Paul a eu de très gentilles attentions envers nous (comme nous n'en avions jamais eu nulle part!). Notre seul regret est de ne pas avoir pu le rencontrer en personne! (les circonstances ne l'ont pas permis). Un séjour vraiment parfait!

La Grande Tortue est vraiment la maison de vacances dont tout le monde rêve. Une propriété avec beaucoup de charme, harmonieux mélange de cachet historique et des plus modernes commodités (magnifiques douches à l'italienne!). Monsieur Herlaut est charmant et très sympathique. De plus la propriété se situe à 100 mètres à peine du Clos Lucé et possède une très belle chambre troglodyte pour ceux qui recherchent de l'authentique. Un séjour magique!

Nous avons passé quelques jours à Amboise et visité les alentours. La maison est située dans au pied du château d'Amboise et à côté du Clos Lucé lieu ou François 1er avait installé Léonard de Vinci. La maison est très confortable et très bien équipée. Parking gratuit à deux pas. Nous avons été très satisfaits de notre séjour et pensons y retourner au printemps.

La Tortue : maison très accueillante

Cette maison de charme très ancienne et entièrement restaurée a beaucoup de cachet. Nous y sommes restés 3 nuits avec grand plaisir. 3 chambres : une troglodytique - avec douche italienne - une double spacieuse au premier et une sous les toits avec veux et 2 lits simples. Située au coeur d'Amboise à deux pas des chateaux, des restaurants et commerce et au calme. Accueil sympathique, décoration raffinée. Nous y avons passé un très chouette séjour et recommandons vivement.

C'est merveilleux!

Nous avons été dans ce lieu pour la célébration de la Nouvelle Année 2015. Nous y avons vécu pendant une semaine et nous avons exploré tout le voisinage et les châteaux de la Loire d'Orléans à Tours. La maison est située dans la belle ville médiévale d'Amboise entre les deux châteaux - le château royal d'Amboise et le Clos Lucé, où Léonard de Vinci a passé ses dernières années. Et tous les deux château sont situés à distance de marche de cette maison. La maison est très confortable, et il a tout le nécessaire pour la vie et pour passe-temps agréable. Près de la maison il ya un parking gratuit, donc vous ne aurez pas de problèmes avec votre voiture. Nous sommes très heureux que nous avons séjourné dans cette maison.
