Romantic apartment in the heart of Ortigia with panoramic terrace!

Our holiday home is located in the heart of Ortigia, the island and historic center of Syracuse, a UNESCO heritage site, in a historic 19th century building, recently renovated and restored to its original splendor. The location is perfect: a few steps from the sea, from Fonte Aretusa and halfway between the Duomo and Castello Maniace.
It is a two-room apartment located on the first floor of the building.
It is called "Fate", for the magical and suggestive atmosphere that you breathe in it. It consists of a living room - kitchen, bedroom, bathroom with shower and large terrace. The living room-kitchen is characterized by an ancient stone arch and a well with a niche from the 1800s. Through a typical masonry staircase you enter the bedroom, with a window on the characteristic roofs of Ortigia and on the courtyard below where stands a majestic citrus tree which in spring gives the precious scents of its flowering. The furniture is made with antique Sicilian furniture. A lovely wooden staircase (rather steep) leads to the terrace, from which you can enjoy a picturesque view over the roofs of Ortigia; the terrace is made comfortable by a large umbrella, table and delightful armchairs. From here you can enjoy a drink, lunch or enjoy a romantic dinner. It allows you to appreciate the pleasant evening sea breeze and also transform into a pleasant solarium. It is embellished with typical local plants.
It can accommodate a maximum of 2 people.

Our apartment was perfect for us. We loved the terrace where we had breakfast every morning and relaxed with books until lunchtime when we went either to the bustling market for fresh fish or to our favourite restaurant on the seafront, where we spent several hours watching boats and enjoying the atmosphere. The apartment was central to everything we wanted to do and was adequately equipped to prepare breakfast and light lunches. It was quirky, and had several stairs, including steep stairs to the terrace, so not suitable for someone with restricted mobility. It just lacked an area to sit and relax if the weather was inclement as there was only a table and two upright chairs in the kitchen. But as the weather was lovely the terrace more than compensated.

Hello Valerie, thanks for your really nice review. I'm very happy you had a nice stay here in Siracusa and the apartment was enough comfortable for you. The apartment as you wrote is about 38 metres squared plus 12 meters squared terrace and there are some steps inside. I only wanted to clarify that, other then the table and the two chairs in the living-room/kitchen we have also a wicker coach as from the pictures I posted on Homeaway too! It has been my great pleasure to meet you and your husband and hope to have the chance to see you back here soon! Thanks for all and wish all the very best! Luca

Compact apartment in the centre of Ortigia

This apartment in Ortigia is within easy walking distance of all the tourist sights (including lots of nice restaurants), is a short bus trip from the Archaeological Park and within easy driving distance of Noto, Catania and the southern towns and beaches. It has all the amenities you require in a self-catering apartment and even has a sunny terrace with views over the city. Luca was a very friendly, helpful and hospitable host with much good advice about places to visit, to eat, etc. My wife and I would highly recommend this property.
