In the charming town of Lauro secluded, nestled at the end a wooded valley 40mins inland from Naples, the Amafi coast, Pompeii and other cultural cities. Tranquil abode in uncontaminated setting from Which to visit the south. The Outhouse The manor, built in the mid nineteenth century, shoulders the medieval castle of the Lancellotti That dominates the old town center. The guest house, separated from the house by a paved courtyard, gives onto a verdant garden shaded by tall trees. Beyond the garden and the rooftops there is a view across the valley towards the steep rise of a mountain range. Even though the residence is a stone's throw from the central square, it is a realm of tranquility without any through traffic and the faint murmur from the square below is hardly audible over the birdsong. The outhouse is open plan with two separate sleeping areas in the mezzanine. Outside looking onto the garden, there is a patio ideal for enjoying your meals in the open air. A perfect retreat for alternating days of relaxation with busy sightseeing and cultural tours.

The place was nice enough and the host/hostess were fine but Lauro is just not situated very conveniently to anything. Lauro is the nicest part of the area but at the end of the day it was just a distant outpost through which you had to drive for an hour through some pretty unfortunate areas to get to. I would recommend this more as a long term rental for someone on assignment in the area that wants to be outside of Naples. For a vacation it was a bit of a disappointment.

Dear Raymond, sorry to hear that you were not altogether happy with your stay because of the location. I Agree that Lauro is a bit out on a limb but it is only 15mins from the motorway which is the fastest way to get to places of interest, both north and south. (From Naples it would probably take you twice as long!)
Even if you are simply wanting to visit Pompei and the Vesuvius you are refreshed from these "unfortunate areas" coming back to Lauro.
What a beautiful villa in a small town in the real Italy. On a hill side next to a castle. Hosts were excellent and we could not ask for more. Thank you
