Charming cottage, full of character, very quiet, clean and well equipped. Good central position for Dunster, easy parking near by. Great communication from the host, we would definitely book again.
Very nice house that catered perfectly for our requirements. Owner was very accommodating and the little touches of cake, bread, butter and tea was lovely. We would defintately stay here again.
Delightful Dunster, a beautiful village located at the gateway to Exmoor National Park. The cottage was homely and we were made to feel very welcome. The location is perfect for walking into the village and to Dunster Castle, and well placed for exploring Exmoor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We spent four wonderful days in the cottage, which was very comfortable and fully equipped. The homemade cake on arrival was a thoughtful gesture. The cottage was a good base for us to explore the local area. We ate in the restaurants in Dunster and on each evening had delicious meals.
Perfect getaway at the end of the year. Second stay at this Cottage which is lovely. The underfloor heating at this time of the year very cosy to come home to. Thank you for checking in during the stay and for the late check out on New Years Day.
Whilst the cottage is nicely decorated and well equipped we experienced issues. 1. Parking almost impossible outside the cottage, had to park elsewhere in the village. Finding a space was a real problem. 2. This is a terraced cottage and the walls are paper thin. We had just one night uninterrupted sleep. Neighbours were banging about from 1.30am until 3.30am. We could hear every word of their conversations. The noise from water pipes next door was really loud especially in the early hours. 3. No mobile signal in the cottage but that can be said for much of Dunster. This should all be made clear before booking. Would not recommend.

Two of the issues raised in this review are issues that are part of staying or living in such a historic village as Dunster. Roads are narrow, with limited parking and I do inform guests of this before arrival and although it is not always possible to park right outside, there are plenty of spaces very close by. There is no mobile signal in Dunster. However it is possible to switch a mobile phone to make wifi calls and this works perfectly satisfactorily using the broadband in the cottage. In nearly 10 years of hosting guests at Floral Cottage, nobody has commented on noise from neighbouring properties and I really do not understand this comment. We have consistently received 5 star reviews and feel this review is rather unfair.
This an extremely well appointed cottage in a delightful village. The owner, Janet, is very attentive available and quick too respond to the smallest issue - and we had only one very minor thing to contact her about.
On arrival, cake and tea were provided which was lovely after a long day of travel. The cottage has everything you could imagine for a comfortable stay basic food stuffs like tea, coffee, fresh milk salt pepper salad dressing, oils and so on - all there.
Dunster itself is as we remember it from a previous visit. As Canadians we love the English village experience and this is quintessentially English to be sure. The pubs we remember have all suffered from COVID and some - the Stags Head - are closed despite the website saying it isn’t and all pubs require bookings for meals. So no more ambling about without a plan and popping into a pub for a beer and a ploughmans. A first world problem really but for a short stay one to keep in mind. Book your meals at the Luttrell Arms in advance is my tip.
Thanks you Janet for another fantastic stay in your lovely cottage.
Wir haben den Aufenthalt in diesem wunderschönen, bestens ausgestatteten Cottage sehr genossen, und die Kommunikation mit den freundlichen Gastgebern lief einwandfrei.
Everything about our stay was excellent. The moment we walked through the door we were relaxed. The cottage was beautifully clean, it smelt amazing and there were extra touches to make us feel welcome. The log basket was full; there was cake left on the dining table; the Christmas tree lights were on; there was a loaf of bread, teabags, milk and butter to get us started. Janet has simply thought of everything.
Floral cottage is delightful so cosy and home from home .very close to the village and castle and off the main Street so very quiet . Janet left us a welcome pack which was delicious 😋 Thankyou for having us .we will definitely be back .
Well equipped and maintained cottage. Precise information from friendly owners. My daughter has stayed there before and would certainly go back for another visit.

Why they chose this property
Although the cottage was in need of a substantial makeover when we purchased it, its potential was immediately apparent. We have made some quite major changes to it, but have always tried to maintain its very special character and charm.
