Magnolia Cottage is a lovely cottage in a quiet area of Porlock called Hawkcombe, within easy walking distance of the village amenities. The cottage sleeps 4 guests in two bedrooms (+ a sofa bed is for occasional use) There is central heating, an electric cooker, washer/dryer and dish washer.

Magnolia Cottage in Porlock (Somerset) is situated on the edge of Porlock and within Exmoor National Park, the cottage is minutes from the West Somerset coastline or moorlands, with woodland walks directly from the door! The cottage makes a perfect base for visitors wanting to explore the many delights of the area.

Dating back to the 19th century, but the cottage has a rustic feel with all the modern comforts that you will need. The front door opens into a small hall for hanging coats. The lounge has a comfortable sofa and chairs, plus a wood-burner. The adjacent kitchen-diner is up one step. The stairs lead up from the lounge to the first floor where the bathroom and two bedrooms are, there's one double and one twin bedroom. The bathroom comprises a bath with shower over, toilet and hand basin.
Magnolia Cottage is set in an idyllic spot next to a running stream in the Hawkcombe valley, a ten minute walk from the centre of Porlock village. The cottage is approached via a footbridge.
Guests receive a welcome pack and logs for the wood-burning stove.
Week-long bookings are available from Saturdays. Short breaks may be available, please check the availability calendar. The property will be ready from 4 pm on the day of your arrival. Please depart by 10 am on the last day of your stay. Please leave the property clean and tidy so that we can guarantee it will be ready on time for our next guests.

Indoor Description
Magnolia Cottage kitchen is fitted with an electric oven and hob. There is also a microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, kettle and toaster.
There is a Smart TV in the sitting room, a selection of board games and wireless broadband is available throughout the property.
Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Magnolia Cottage has central heating which can be adjusted to suit your preferences. There is also a wood-burner in the sitting room; a basket of logs will be provided. The cottage is double glazed throughout.
Bed linen and towels are provided for your convenience.
There are two stair gates provided.
There is a wide selection of brochures and booklets with suggestions of thing to do & places to go, in the cottage. There are also a variety of board games and DVDs in the cottage.
Outdoor Description
A private footbridge leads over the Hawkcombe stream from the parking area towards the front of the cottage. There is a grassed area of garden and a patio with garden furntiure and barbecue. Both areas are not enclosed but are available for guests' sole use.

There is free roadside parking just by the footbridge that leads to Magnolia Cottage. The parking is not allocated but there is plenty of parking available nearby.

The region
Porlock is a historic village on the edge of Exmoor National Park in Somerset, in a sheltered vale between the moor and the Bristol Channel coast. Its heritage stretches back to Saxon times.
The meandering High Street is lined with independent shops, including a traditional butcher, chemist, hardware shop, post office, two convenience stores, art galleries, a chocolate shop, and a cash machine. Most shops keep hours of 9am to 5pm, often extending during the summer season.
The harbour hamlet of Porlock Weir is approximately one mile to the west and makes a lovely walk or a short drive. There you will find a 15th-century tidal harbour, a pub, restaurants, cafes, and independent shops and galleries.
Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 6 miles away. Here you will find larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrisons on the outskirts with longer opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, and a range of other shops. EV charging points are available at Porlock Central Car Park.
