About this property
Over looking park land - "Leith-Links", the original home of golf!
Wellington Place is a truly unique property. The town house was originally designed for a wealthy merchant because of its proximity to the old trading centre of Leith docks and retains a wealth of original features: extravagant plasterwork , marble fireplaces, etched glass windows and original shutters on all windows.
A stunning bow-ended master bedroom which would most likely have been the original dining-room, as suggested by the marble fireplace and etched glass windows is a relaxing place to spend time after a day sightseeing in the historical city. Stunning new bathroom just fitted with walk-in shower, new appliances and underfloor heating!
These original features have been combined with the open-plan style and contemporary features of 21st-century living to provide a calm and relaxing environment. The modern open plan kitchen and dining area have all the appliances one would expect from a state of the art kitchen while retaining the original grand period features of the room. The lounge also has a remotely controlled gas fire, very authentic, within an impressive Georgian fireplace for cosy nights in. All windows have working shutters.
The property comes with state of the art media entertainment and communications including; 40" Sony flat screen - full HD, Blue Ray DVD, fast broad band via wifi. This place is seriously cool!
On-street metered parking is available and we can also provide visitor permits with sufficient notice - a major asset in any city. The nearest bus and tram stop is just 5 mins. round the corner on Constitución street departing every 5/10 minutes directly to Princes Street, where the journey time is approx 10 mins - so extremely close to the city centre without the same extent of noise and traffic. So a real oasis in Edinburgh!
Surrounded by excellent local amenities, supermarkets ( nearest 2 mins from building), bars & restaurants and award winning Terrance Conran designed Mall, home to The Royal Yacht Britannia on quay side, multi-plex cinema, excellent shopping just 5 mins away by car or cab.

On the bright side, restricted, pay for parking regs means much greater parking availability in the street! Free parking located just 2 mins walk away across “The Links” on Hermitage Place. We try to leave parking vouchers for guests use when available on first come. basis. Tram stop located just 2 mins round the corner from apartment.
Has a lovely time in this very spacious apartment . Well equipped. Super shower and bathroom . Close to the tram stops into the city centre . Some lovely cafes and restaurants nearby and walking distance to the estuary .
Our stay was great, the property is located perfectly just a short 1 minute from the tram stop with ample amenities close by.We had an issue with the newly fitted boiler only having cold water on our first day but prompt replies from the host and quick action meant that this could be fixed the following day to fit around our schedule.Incredibly happy with our stay and would recommend to others visiting Edinburgh.
We had a great stay at this VRBO. Very close to the tram which was such a convenient way to travel! Loved the modern bathroom and kitchen while the rest of the home maintained the history of the home. The house had everything we needed. The host was helpful and available as needed. Would definitely recommend!!
Our stay here was lovely - safe and quiet neighborhood with a huge park across the street which was originally Leith Golf Course (really interesting statue and info over there) We were very comfortable and lots of great restaurants and breakfast places both within walking distance and no more that 2 miles from the house. Plus a Tesco at the end of the street. Enjoyed our first visit to Edinburgh and the people were great!

Excellent location and easy to travel by tram into central Edinburgh. Good for bars and restaurants locally all in walking distance. Parking charges apply if you wish to park outside the property itself. Though owners may offer a parking permit. We did not need a car.
Stayed there for 4 nights. Location was perfect. Walking distance to a grocery store, shops and restaurants. Plus a very short walk to the Edinburgh tram that we used everyday.
House was beautiful and met our needs during our stay. Enjoyed the heated floors in the bathroom and the beds were very comfortable.
Definitely would stay there again and would recommend this place to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
Well appointed accommodation, warm and comfortable with a slightly lived in feel that makes you feel at home. Walk in to centre or numerous trams and buses. Leith itself has pubs, cafes and restaurants and many interesting walks from the front door. Highly recommended.
My husband and I stayed with friends and our oldest son. The flat was beautiful, maintaining most of the original details, yet modern, comfortable and well equipped. The tram stop was close by, making it easy to get around (even to the airport) Tesco right down the street made shopping easy, and the neighborhood was calm and quiet, yet close to services and restaurants.
Highly recommend and will keep this at the top of the list for our next visit to Edinburgh.
A quirky property in an interesting location. Kitchen a bit tired and dishwasher needs attention.
Comfortable furniture and nice high ceilings throughout.
Bathroom was very good.
Strong smell of tobacco was a little disconcerting.
This was a great place for our family. Grocery store was a block away; great park with play structures across from the apartment; quick transportation to sites, just around the corner. Our bed was extremely comfortable and felt like heaven after a long trip. The kitchen had everything one needs (although it could use a few more dinner plates to reduce frequency of dishwasher cycles). The kids had their own room, which was just what they needed. Host was very responsive. We would rent again for a future stay.
Very nice Appartement in a very old house. Stained glasses at the entry door, almost 4 m high ceilings and lots of space.
Tram and bus station in short walking distance. Tesco 3 minutes walking away.
Leith links is a former golf course now a public park. Very quiet area.

Morris was a great communicator had some issues with finding it at first which was more pur fault than his... the property was very nice the master bedroom was very good size and the bathroom was very nicely done.
The apartment is really spacious, especially the living room and the kitchen (we were a family with 3 children). The bathroom ist well-equiped. Directly in front of the apartment is a great park and a bit further Leith. Buses and tramway are quite close, also a big supermarket.
The contact with the host was quick and fine. There is nothing to reclame. Thank you!
The apartment provided all that we needed. The extra bedroom was a little small but the primary room was very spacious. Although away from the city it was easy to access via bus. Enjoyed our visit very much.
My friend and I wanted a weekend away but not city centre. Leith is a lovely place. Recommend Fishers restaurant. The flat was in a great location for shopping and a short walk to bars, restaurants and harbour. Would stay again. Extraordinarily comfy bed and cosy duvets and pillows. Well equipped. Would have liked some milk, tea and coffee available for arrival but otherwise very pleased with standard of accommodation. Thank you Morris.
Overall, a lovely apartment which is very spacious. The rooms were great! You will need to get a bus to the city centre (if you are visiting it) but it's very easy to do as the bus pick up it just round the corner, so very easy. Overall, very pleased.

The apartment was very central and had everything you could need for a short or long stay.
This apartment was ideal for our needs and had everything on tap. Also for us it had plenty of parking nearby for free which was great. We had easy access to nice restaurants on the shore within easy walking distance and were also close to Princes Street by bus.

WONDERFUL ELEGANT APARTMENT!!
Just got back home from Scotland yesterday and wanted to thank you for the use of your beautiful home for a memorable Christmas holiday. It worked out fabulously for our group of 7 plus our Frenchie Bruce and I would not hesitate to recommend your home to anyone looking for a convenient, comfortable and elegant place to hang a hat for an extended period of time, 14 days on this trip!
We spent countless hours in the living room enjoying our family, the fireplace, the warm ambiance and excellent Gin and wine!
As described, parking was readily available right outside the door with a beautiful park complete with a fenced in area for the dog to run off leash right across the street.
Beautiful old building with a ton of character in a very convenient location away from the downtown core yet with easy access via cab, car or bus.
This is the second time I have used one of Morris's properties for our family vacation and I cannot say enough about his prompt, professional and genuine attitude.
Cheers!

I worked as an actor for many years and as a radio broadcaster on the BBC, presenting arts programmes. I'm also very interested in cultural tourism projects and in 1996 created The Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour, an award winning tour performed by professional actors. It runs throughout the year and Rick Steves, presenter of travel programmes USA wide, is quoted as saying in a recent review, 'for an entertaining insight into the greats of Scottish literature, served up with new friends, good beer, and lots of laughs, The Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour is my vote for the best way to spend an Edinburgh Evening!' so can't be bad!! Let me know if your interested in going on the tour at check-in and I can reserve you a slot.
