The place was equipped with everything we needed and it was probably the most serene and comfortable place I have ever stayed. The setting was so very relaxing. It’s quiet and the views both day and evening added so much to my sister and I enjoying away time. The hosts are lovely and very attentive when we had a question. I’m definitely planning to go back!
We loved our stay. It was clean, cozy and very well stocked. We appreciated all the amenities and information provided. Would definitely love to stay again.
The schoolhouse was truly a dream come true. It was clean and homey. The views were absolutely beautiful. The owners even left news articles that explain the history of the schoolhouse, which I found so fascinating. They also left breakfast items for us to use in the morning from local places, which was a HUGE help to us. Delicious food, beautiful views, kind hosts...we wish we could have stayed longer!
The schoolhouse is cozy and charming. The hosts have anticipated guests' needs and provided everything for a lovely stay.
We enjoyed the beautiful scenic setting and the animals at the farm across from the schoolhouse.
We enjoyed our time here so much! The location is perfect. We had a chance to hike at Hawk Mountain. You can’t beat the beauty of the area. The farm across the street offers such beauty when waking up in the morning. The school house was clean and well stocked. We were definitely coming back in the fall.
Great rental.great weekend getaway. Home is clean, stocked and very comfortable. Surrounded by beautiful farm grounds. Easy access to shopping, hawk mountain, crystal caves. Highly recommend.
What a great little property. The schoolhouse was clean and well stocked with everything you could need. The perfect place for a quiet weekend away. Will miss the goats and donkeys coming to say hi each afternoon.
This was a perfect location for hiking the Appalachian Trail. The trailhead was just over 1 mile away, so getting on the trail early was great. The porch was a great extra as it was so lovely out. The kitchen had a lot of items that made the stay extra special. Since there are not a lot of restaurants nearby, the kitchen was helpful for breakfast and lunch. They left a basket of goodies with local food products.
We spent Christmas at this cozy little getaway, and it was absolutely perfect. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in outside of my own. The view was gorgeous and the fireplace was fantastic. The pantry was stocked, and we were even greeted with homemade bread and treats. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

Growing up within a quarter mile of both Kinder Hawk Schoolhouse and our current farm, Jim, has intimate knowledge of the Albany township/Kempton area. Our main business is Robertson's Renovations General Contracting. We specialize in renovating older homes. Kinder Hawk will eventually become our retirement home - but we are still too busy with other things, like volunteering for the US Fish & Wildlife banding birds of prey, or volunteering for Albany Township Historical Society, gardening and grandchildren! We would love to invite you to experience true old fashioned PA German farm hospitality and welcome you into the family!
Why they chose this property
Kinder Hawk Schoolhouse used to be a part of our 40 acre farm. After many years of educated local children then being converted into a private residence, we were fortunate to be able to purchase the schoolhouse in December of 2014 and add it back into our farm!
What makes this property unique
Private, unique, economical, quiet and very cozy and comfortable with outstanding views! Equipped with your comfort in mind. You are welcomed with good old PA German hospitality. Great stop over for AT hikers or their family. Stop, rest up, do laundry and keep on trucking fully rested! Artists can paint to their heart's content from any spot on the property! Gorgeous scenic view, private walking paths. Nature right out your door.
