Great stay! The location was good, and parking was surprisingly ample even with the truck, boat and car! Alan was very responsive and wonderful. Am looking forward to our next trip!
I came in from out of town for a family reunion that was at the Camano State Park campground. The neighborhood was a nice, quiet place to come back to after full days with my family.
It was reasonably priced and the view of the sunset from the deck was decent. There was no Wi-Fi. The master bathroom door and the guest bedroom door do not lock. The blinds in the bedrooms don't work. The place gets super hot in the summer and the tiny table fans are not enough. There is a garage but it doesn't have a door opener so needs to be operated manually. The TV is tiny, it's probably a computer monitor. The host was responsive and nice.

Find a different house on the island!
The house itself is fine. Very simplistic, small t.v with older DVDS, basic amenities nothing fancy. NO TRASH service!!! I expect to take my trash with me when camping but not VRBO. Owner is super unhelpful and unrealistic. He doesn't want you to use the heater in the winter! Wants you to use small portable radiators which is unrealistic with children. Many other VRBO on island for around the same amount. I would suggest choosing one of those.
Smelled strongly of wet dogs upon entry! Personal Items everywhere. Garage packed, crowding egress of humans. Personal belongings need to be locked up or gone. Shoes/Slippers at doors. No lock on back door. Lots of personal things on counters/in house.. Dirty bases, and hardwater rings in toilets'. Large Bed against wall= difficult access for 1, extremely firm mattresses, no toppers. Dirty range hood, and oven. They need a professional cleaner. I am one. Nice view and nice white towels. Spent 2 Hours cleaning up Flood from dishwasher!! We will never get that time back. Felt like owners just left and we were NOT WELCOME. Uncomfortable.
The home was beautiful and was well stocked, and had everything you could need. The furniture is dated and a bit unfomfortable for larger adults. For younger families probably fine. But the view is amazing.
The house was clean, cozy, and peaceful. The yard was well maintained. Watching the sunset in the deck was delightful! From the well stocked kitchen to the little signs telling you what’s what and the chilled glasses in the freezer, we felt welcome!
Location, neighborhood, and view were great. Easy walk to the water. Home was clean and inviting although it does get quite warm in the summer given the direct morning and afternoon sunlight.
The house is in a nice location on the island. It wasn't particularly well appointed, the furniture was a hodgepodge of mismatched items, beds aren't great, too firm for us. Bathrooms could use with some updating, toilets reminded us of kindergarten. We found someone's underwear on the floor by the bed!
It was ok decor was very interesting with much tender loving care it would have made our stay more pleasing
Bed spreads were old and not fresh couch not comfortable at all tables and chairs mitch mayched i wSas not wowed
Spouse and I were able to stay for two nights. We found the location to be wonderful with personal touches throughout which were interesting to look at during our stay. We appreciated some of the brochures that were left on the coffee stand which gave us some ideas of things we could do. This residence was clean throughout which we appreciated. The only negative is that it smelled of secondhand cigarette smoke which could be smelled on our packed clothes throughout the remainder of our trip to E. Washington. Unsure if this was from the previous visitor. Otherwise 5 stars and recommended.
Well supplied, clean home is as described and seen in photos. Prompt helpful host response to a question. Nice water views looking towards Whidbey Island. Turned out to be a cold rainy couple of days but enjoyed short hikes at State parks and beaches, fun eateries, and watching the unique birds at the feeders out the large windows! Space heaters were efficient and appreciated! Thank you for sharing your home!
We mostly just slept at the house because we were having a large family gathering at another house on the island but needed extra sleeping space. The house was great and served our purpose, our only complaint was it had a musty smell
Clean easy to access and very plesant there were just 2 of us and there was plenty of room Very quiet area and the veiw was great. Would stay there again.
We only ate breakfast in our unit as we had an annual crabbing event that we spent most of the day at. That was just as well - the primary bathroom had not been cleaned (fresh towels had been set out but that was it). Mirror/faucet had soap/toothpaste splatters and it was clear the toilet lid and shower had been not been touched - signs of previous use were evident. Also - don't forget to bring your own coffee - we couldn't find any in the unit (no keurig/nespresso - just a coffee maker and filters.) We were hoping we would find our perfect spot as we come every year for this crabbing event but the search continues.

About the host
Hosted by Alan (or Tomoko)
Seattle native who started spending summers on Camano island back in the 50s when the family rented a place right near this one. Never got it out of my system and had to finally build this place in 2014 enlisting the services of a great local builder with 30 years of experience. It was all about the view and the surroundings. My wife, from Japan has embraced my passion for this place as well.
Why they chose this property
It is within a stone's throw of the property my family used to rent every summer when I was a kid. Lots of nostalgia & natural beauty. Hummingbirds, swallows, eagles, wild rabbits and deer are a few of the reasons to like this place. A great view of amazing sunsets is perhaps the greatest thing about it. We are less than 10 minutes away from Cama beach state park where they have the center for wooden boats and boat rentals. Also just beyond that is the other Camano island State park with a boat launch and camping.
What makes this property unique
Faces West, afternoon/evening sun & sunsets. This view helps us detox and relax. It's a great quiet neighborhood for walking and bicycle riding. The back yard is big enough for kids to play in safely and the back deck is a good place for adults to supervise from. Often the only real soundtrack is birds that come to our neighbors assortment of feeders. We always have hummingbird feeders out but there are so many more types to see and hear.
