Mountain log cabin living can be a blast when you know what to expect. There are a few more details to ponder as you plan this time of year: 4X4 wheel drive recommend in the likely case of snow packed road conditions. CDOT does an amazing job of keeping the main highway and road to the cabin plowed, but storm depending, plowing may not align with your arrival - departure timing. It will be important to check weather and road conditions week of your trip to ensure you pack and plan accordingly. Snow shoveling may be necessary to access drive - walk ways during your stay as there is no staff on site. The main heat sources: fireplace in living room, potbelly stove in front room, 1 propane unit in middle room.
No matter the time of year, we'd love to hear more about your travel plans and accommodation priorities prior to booking.

About the host
Hosted by Desra McDonald

A recent empty nest couple from Arizona with a thirst for adventure yearned for somewhere they could get back to nature, as a retreat from their busy professions, with visions dancing in their heads of bring their family together for hikes and holidays….. when their long time Colorado friends called about partnering on owning a real log cabin (already renovated for full time living) , next to Rocky Mountain Wilderness…. WOW, they were intrigued but once they saw this log cabin home in the mountains above Estes Park with the cascading creek flowing out back, they were enchanted and are now living happily ever after as partners sharing this dream with families & friends from all parts of the world.
