The cabin was incredibly comfy and cozy. It was impressively stocked with whatever you might need, kitchen, bathroom, games, etc. We only wish we had been able to stay longer!
This 100 year old cabin was well-equipped with everything we needed for our 4 night stay. We liked that it was located in a quiet setting, but still close to RMNP and Estes Park. A highlight of our stay was seeing a group of big horn sheep (a ram and 4 ewes) just a short distance from the cabin.
My family stayed here for a long weekend hiking trip. We loved this cabin. It's quaint and rustic but still offers all the modern amenities you'd need for an escape from the hustle and bustle of life. The host met us at check in and made sure any questions were answered. Allenspark is a great alternative to the much more touristy Estes Park.
Serene, rustic but modern cabin in a spectacular setting. Away from crowds but convenient to Estes. Property owners were wonderful. Evenings on deck were refreshing after hiking trails in RMNP. One of my most pleasant VRBO experiences. Highly recommend for all ages. Cabin stays cool most days.
This Cabin is an easy drive to Estes Park and RMNP, and very close to the trailheads for Wild Basin, Twin Sisters, and Long's Peak as well as trails in the National Forest. There is a great coffee shop within 5 minutes. The cabin was perfect for our 5 and could sleep 6-7 comfortably. My concerns before going were that it would be too close to other cabins and road noise from the highway nearby but neither concern was realized. It is quite, quaint, and the creek behind it is actually bigger than it looks if photos. Not BIG, mind you, but bigger than I was expecting. There is no laundry but a laundromat within 10 minutes. If you don't need "modern asthetic" this place is perfect for a family!
We loved the isolated location and appreciated Jack welcoming us on arrival and showing us through the house and giving overview of the area. Disappointed we didn't see the moose or bears.
The two suggestions I would make - 1. send the welcome letter out a little sooner as we received it too late to adjust our packing based on the "what to bring" list. 2. While the directions to the cabin were spot on and easy to follow, Waze didn't recognize the street name. Maybe mention that GPS programs will get you to Allenspark but may not recognize the address and to just follow the written directions provided.j
Thanks again.
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Not completely off the grid (we had work to do) but far enough off it to enjoy nature in a beautiful little mountain town.
The cabin was decorated perfectly and very cozy. The hosts were awesome. Available quickly with responses to our questions . Jack has some really good stories to tell. Close to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park. Good hiking trails near the cabin. Nice river to enjoy in the back. There is a natural fresh water spring right down the road from the cabin where you are free to fill up your containers, the water is cold and delicious, although the cabin water is tasty as well! We also recommend Rock Creek Tavern and Pizzeria, and for breakfast or lunch Meadow Mountain Cafe. Yummy!!!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in this perfect cabin and will be back again. We recommend this place highly. Thank you Jack and Desra!
We were so amazed at how neat this old cabin was. It has an addition put on ,but it
Blended beautiful. The creek out back was a nice retreat. All the little rustic decorations were perfect . All very accessible. But stairs were very narrow.and a bit scary to walk up and down. Aside from that I can't find anything wrong .it's a short drive to estes.and a cute little country store literally around the corner. We stayed a week ,will definitely stay again. !!
The title explains it. The stairs to the second floor were very narrow, with the chance of hitting your head. On the lower level, the bathroom was farther away than we thought. To me, the rentals should give a drawing of the layout of the housing so the renter has a better idea of where rooms are located.
The photos always show the best portions of the property.
We loved the beautiful, immaculately decorated cabin. It was bigger than we expecting and we kept being surprised by all of the thoughtful, adorable touches around every corner. We felt right at home. There was tons of fun games around. It was great to hear the stream with my morning coffee on the back deck each day. Thank you for all the time and love you put into your home! It was wonderful to stay there.
Cascading Creek was a lovely place to stay and the owners were great. The location was perfect, especially if you want to get away from the busy town of Estes. We loved the pizza right down the road at Rock Creek Tavern; refilled our water bottles from the local creek; enjoyed shopping at The Old Gallery; and an amazing Horse Back Trail Ride at Meeker Stables. All of these places were mere minutes from Cascading Creek. Of course we hiked at RMNP and enjoyed that as well. The babbling creek in the back of the cabin was very relaxing and we loved the hidden trinkets all of the property that were fun to find. The owners definitely paid attention to the details. :)
We greatly enjoyed our stay. Peaceful, beautiful spot with trees and a small steam just steps away. The cabin has a highway running behind it but we honestly didn’t even notice it much.
Great property off the Peak to Peak Byway near Rocky Mountain National Park
We loved our stay! It was just the right combination of rustic and convenience. The location was amazing - 30 minutes to the national park, limited traffic, but close to a few amenities in the tiny towns of Allenspark and Ferncliff. We saw mule deer in the backyard and a bull elk with a harem just down the road. The cabin has a well-equipped kitchen. We never had an issue with water levels running low, but we also relied heavily on spring water, keeping the two kitchen jugs full for drinking and food.
The property was gorgeous! The creek in the bag was pleasant to listen to and the deck made it easy to enjoy being outside. The cabin itself was amazing
This little log cabin was well equipped and comfy. We loved having our coffee outside by the little stream in the back! The owners were friendly and helpful, and they seemed to think of everything. It was the perfect, quiet respite after a busy day enjoying Estes Park activities. We definitely would give this place two thumbs up!
Beautiful cabin! Loved our stay. Desra and Jack were attentive flexible and helpful. We had a big snow storm which changed plans daily and the McDonalds work with us through our rental time.
A wonderful time away. The owners are very responsive and helpful. The cabin is well appointed with everything that one would need. The small decorating touches are delightful. I will be back
Our experience at Cascading Creek was better than we could have ever imagined! The aspens were in the peak of their autumn glory! Jack and Desra have created the authenticity of an historic log cabin, but with all the modern comforts and conveniences. The cabin was immaculate, and it was apparent that they had anticipated the needs of their guests, giving every attention to detail. Thank you for sharing this log cabin with us! We hope to return!
The cabin is in a great location to enjoy the mountains without the crowds. It is vintage but with modern amenities. If you are looking for a 5star hotel with lots of shopping and food within walking distance this is not the place for you. If you want to enjoy nature and the mountains in a charmingly decorated cabin then this one is your place
I don’t think I could have found a better cabin for my Colorado trip! Set in an historic mountain locale, this cabin offers modern amenities while remaining an authentic (and great) mountain cabin. I loved sitting in the peaceful little grove in back and listening to the little mountain brook. The woodland walk also features lovely gardens. A very tranquil and beautiful setting overall. Yet this cabin is conveniently close to interesting towns like Lyons and Estes Park. I especially like that it is just a few miles from Wild Basin, my favorite area in Rocky Mountain National Park. I also greatly enjoyed driving the Peak to Peak Highway, which I regard as one of the most scenic in America.
I hope to return next year!
Even though the cabin is between a highway and a business highway, I felt as if I was off in the deep forest. The porches and the little stream in back were perfect peaceful places to read my book and sip my coffee. We enjoyed our stay greatly!
That song came to mind. Nothing left out ... best appointed VRBO we have stayed in. Totally gracious, informative hosts.

A recent empty nest couple from Arizona with a thirst for adventure yearned for somewhere they could get back to nature, as a retreat from their busy professions, with visions dancing in their heads of bring their family together for hikes and holidays….. when their long time Colorado friends called about partnering on owning a real log cabin (already renovated for full time living) , next to Rocky Mountain Wilderness…. WOW, they were intrigued but once they saw this log cabin home in the mountains above Estes Park with the cascading creek flowing out back, they were enchanted and are now living happily ever after as partners sharing this dream with families & friends from all parts of the world.
