This is our second year in a row visit, so we are very familiar with the property and it offers our family just what we need for our stay near the coast.
Had such a wonderful stay at this gorgeous home! So cozy and welcoming. My friends and I absolutely loved the warmth this house gave, overall we had such a lovely time. The only fault I will give this house is the toilet doesn’t flush properly, all my friends and I had troubles using it and often had to flush multiple times! Apart from that, it was a perfect place to enjoy each other’s company and definitely would stay again! Thank you Tyson :)

Disappointed
We arrived to find dirty bench tops, dirty wine glasses and plates in the cupboard and a dirty fridge. After 6 hours drive and looking forward to celebrating Christmas tea with family we were disappointed to say the very least.

Some issues but overall quirky property
My friends and I stayed at this property for an event. The property is very different and interesting in a gorgeous location. However, we found communication with the host to be disappointing. The day before check-in, I sent in enquiry which was never responded to. At check-in time I still hadn’t been sent details on the key lock box. It took several attempts at calling to make contact with the host, meaning we were unable to check in on time.
I believe the accessibility of this property is not accurately portrayed on the site. There is a STEEP set of stairs to go up and down to access the property. Additionally, the main bedroom is up a huge ladder. This bedroom also has mould issues and the balcony door doesn’t shut.
The property has no linen included due to washing, yet there are doona covers on the bed and pillows on some of the pillows ?which also need washing?. This leads me to question whether these items are washed or not between guests. The mattress and pillow protectors are also heavily stained. There was a huge list of check out conditions in the condition. So we had to spend a long time completing these before check out.
So, overall while it was a cute quirky house in a lovely spot, I wouldn’t stay again.
We only had a brief stay however we were pleasantly surprised - very clean with spacious outdoor entertaining areas and courtyards attached to rooms very private with a cottage homely feel

The dead mouse and 50 steps to the front door were a disappointment
When we arrived we were surprised to find 50 steps to the front door! There was a strange smell in the pantry to the extend that I went and bought air freshners. The toilet ran constantly and would barely flush. Response from the owner was quick and property manager was quick to attend and found a dead mouse in the pantry which had been there quite a while so I question the cleanliness. Told the plumber would be out but never arrived. Was given a $50 voucher and small bag of chokkies but lockdown came and owner wouldn’t return our text messages /emails so felt we had to leave to get home so unfortunately never used the voucher. Contact with owner has been very sketchy when seeking a small refund. Probably my worst experience worth an Stayz property. Feel the photos are deceiving as the property is accessed via a lot of steps
Had to go to Ocean Grove for a party but alas there were only 3 adults instead of 5 adults and a dog. If you have a dog that is outside all the time, not that safe. Also there were 5 beds but the large one in the attic which would not be for everyone. Lovely little cottage but maybe too small for 5 adults. Very clean.
Delightful stay at Driftaway Cottage. Quaint, rustic, secluded and overlooking the hills of the neighbouring Reserve.
Steps down to and from the property may be a challenge for some. However, would highly recommend to others.
Great place. Everything you could need in the house. Located near a playground and the lake which was great for the kids and walking the dog. Would definitely stay again!
The property was beautiful the stairs were rather difficult for the elderly as a hand rail would be great. Apart from that fantastic place to stay owners were lovely and very approachable and responded promptly highly recommend!
Cute little place, futon was a bit uncomfortable but was easier than climbing up the steep ladder to the queen bed. Lots of uneven steps down to the property. Lovely big shower, separate toilet is a plus when staying with friends. I would stay here again just with less people simply due to the futon. Tyson was very easy to get hold of, gorgeous property
My family and some friends stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed the house and the area surrounding it. Especially the playground directly opposite which was utilised extensively by our two 9 y.o attendees. Would definitely recommend if you have a family.
