Grandpa’s Axe was very comfortable and an easy (15 minute) stroll to Big Bear Village.
The master bedroom had wonderful cross-breezes and we slept very well.
Nice deck with hungry blue jays who love peanuts.
Although we didn’t cook there, the kitchen seemed fully stocked.
Altogether, a fun stay.

Not the Cleanest Stay
There were a lot of cleanliness issues, everything else was fine. The check-in and access was great, as was the location and overall layout/cabin.
As far as cleanliness, there was a large ball of someone’s hair on the stairs, candy bar crumbs on the coffee table, coffee grind sludge stuck to the bottom of the coffee mugs, lint/clumps of hair in the jacuzzi and its jets, hair in the shower and on the shower walls, and the jacuzzi itself made both myself and my partner itchy (although I assume this is chemicals but combined with the state of the water, it was nerve wracking).
We are not very picky people with accommodations but I was genuinely disappointed with the level of cleanliness in this cabin. I’ve stayed with a couple of other companies in Big Bear and never had this come up; even in old, bare bones cabins. It was a bummer as our main point of booking was the jacuzzi.
Overall good place to stay, especially with the awesome jacuzzi! For a small space it is very roomy, just a little tight getting in the front door due to kitchen cabinet being built out to door entrance. Kitchen does NOT have any
" extras" like salt & pepper and minimum pots and pans and utensils so bring your own if you're stay is long and you'll be cooking. Biggest complaint is NO door mats!! So weird!! This is snow country for goodness sake!! Also no broom or MOP!! Had to use towels to make up for it..not good. Other than that, beds were comfy and had everything we needed...especially that awesome jacuzzi!
Great communication with Ashley at check in. The place was very peaceful with just enough privacy. The house was clean, minus a few dishes which I prefer to clean prior to use anyways. Very cozy fit us four just fine.

The cabin was good but I had zero shower water my entire stay of two nights. Pretty disappointing
Had no shower water the entire two night visit. The cabin was nice and peaceful but to not be able to shower made the trip not that great.
Oven did not work. Didn't know that until we went to make dinner that night. Jacuzzi was low on water with no hose to fill it up with. We made 50 plus trips back and forth from the kitchen sink with a stock pot to fill it. There was 4 of us with only 2 shower towels, 1 hand towel and 1 wash cloth. Fortunately, I brought 4 big towels for the jacuzzi. Other than that the place was great. We loved our vacation.
the only thing i can say wrong about this cabin is that i wished they had a washer and dryer and maybe a broom to sweep the floor handy other then that it’s a cute little cabin perfect for my family of 4
This is a cool cabin. The hot tub views are amazing. Quiet, and close to everything. It got pretty hot during the day, but that’s what the lake is for. I would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I were excited to have a few days to ourselves in Big Bear. When we entered our rented cabin we were immediately disappointed. The cabin is old with warped floors and dank carpets. There were cobwebs throughout as well as dirty cleaning supplies left behind. A used piece of soap was left in the shower. The vinyl floors are in desperate need of a steam clean. The couch was disgusting, Like rings of old water stains and white crust on the pillows. The shower is cracking apart and mildewed. Dust in all of the dishes. The positives: the hot tub worked and seems newer. The location is great and it was quite. For the amount we paid per night we expected more.
This was a beautiful cozy home in a semi-private neighborhood. The privacy in the evenings relaxing on the patio in the hot tub under the stars was So great! Very clean, came with a bunch of cute board games and most necessities! Keep in mind there is no AC for the summer, but with the windows open and all of the fans on it stayed quite cool. My only draw backs were that the bathroom was tiny and I would recommend bringing your own pillows. My husband is 6”4 and barely fit in the shower but that’s no biggy :) The property manager was always one text away, and the location was 3-5 minutes from the shops and restaurants. Overall 10/10 experience!

Dirty and decrepit
Booked this property after management assured me they are taking COVID precautions - 61 point cleaning/sanitation and 24 hour vacancy prior to our arrival.
Walk in and first thing I see is a breakfast table with a fresh coffee ring. This was not a stain and was easily wiped off. The card table in the middle level was COVERED in dust. Stains on the couch. Not only was it disgusting but I felt scared for my safety d/f COVID.
The bathroom fixture fell off, the hot tub cover was broken.
The bathroom is the size of a closet.
The only redeeming quality was Sheena, a manager, brought cleaning supplies so I could clean and try to sanitize the cabin.
Spend an extra $20 a night and stay somewhere else!
Went with my husband and 2 yr old. Very quick drive or bike ride to lots of cute places from the cabin. Perfect trip for getting away from home for a bit but also being able to socially distance easily. The hot tub was Perfect and the fireplace was so cozy. If you’re staying with a bigger group, just know that the upstairs bedroom does not have a door on it.
