4 bedroom, 2 full bath, 4 spacious outdoor decks, gorgeous Lake Michigan views
About Melissa Olstrom
I grew up in the Detroit area and I've spent the last 20 years living on the coast of West Michigan. My family and I have just bought a small farm and moved out of the beach house so we can enjoy farm living. We love the sand dunes here and are looking forward to sharing our 2nd home with other families that also love the beach plus so many other wonderful West Michigan locations.
Melissa Olstrom purchased this House in 1998
Why Melissa Olstrom chose Montague
The sandy beaches in this region are one of the major highlights of Michigan because of the soft sand and crystal clear water of the Big Lake. Montague is an spectacular vacation destination because of the quaint small town with shopping and restaurants and breweries, beautiful White lake, clear White River, adventurous Silver Lake Sand Dunes State Park nearby, Michigan's Adventure, and so much more to explore.
What makes this House unique
The lake views from all levels of the home, the peaceful dining/sitting area on the covered side deck with café lights, dining al fresco for all meals if you choose, extremely spacious bedrooms, and an abundance of natural lighting in this home.

We rented this property because we had a construction project in the area. It was a great place to return to at the end of each work day. Spacious enough for 3 guys to feel like they had their own space - relaxing. Melissa was a pleasure to work with also!
Lake Michigan views & sunsets
Beautiful sunsets over Lake Michigan almost every night. The home was comfortable with a lovely deck with outdoor seating. Air conditioning and a gas grill was very useful and appreciated!
Howard, thank you so much for your excellent review! I'm thrilled that you enjoyed yourselves and we'd love to have you return of course! And if I could order incredible sunsets every night for you, I would! I love them too.
Nice house and location
messy kitchen. Only one real useful pot. NO venting (hood) from the kitchen Dishwasher plate holders broken, only play e for few plates.
Nice overall layout with daylight indoor..Very nice view of the lake and scenery sunsets from the balcony.
Bathrooms are a little small and one was a bit smelly, The outdoor shower is a great plus when you return from swimmi g in the lake,
Overall a very nice place For families with kids to spend a holiday - we liked it.
I am so sorry that you found the kitchen to be messy. I will work on organizing it more efficiently and remove anything unnecessary. It is an older dishwasher, but it works well I think and is of good quality. The bathrooms aren't huge, but they are a standard size and I'm happy to be able to say they are full bathrooms with a tub in both (great with kids and adults that need to relax!). I'll follow up with the housekeeping staff about any undesirable odors in the bathroom, and I can say they do vent efficiently to the outdoors so I was very surprised to hear about smelliness to be honest. And we do love the outdoor shower too! We were thrilled to have you stay, being from a foreign location and if you would like to return, we'll make sure that you are completely comfortable! Thank you so much for your review!
Great Lake Michigan getaway!
We greatly enjoyed our time on the big lake! The property was perfect for our family and the owners were very responsive and easy to work with. The pictures are accurate and would recommended for anyone looking for a true west coast Michigan experience.
Thank you so much Jesh for your great review! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and we would love to have you back!
Mother Nature was not kind to beach lovers!
This home was very clean and bright and my grandkids loved the 'toy corner'. The host was extremely accommodating with booking our reservation. We were all disappointed by the beach, or lack thereof. There are 3 beach access points for homes that are on the side of the street that is not on the lake, and are part of the beach association. We were told that since the water levels were so high, there was very little beach, nothing you can do about it, Mother Nature. There were days that the lake was rough and true, there was NO beach but other days it was just very difficult to get to. The steps were just gone at the end of one walkway and taped off on the other. The third beach never had steps and there was a pretty steep drop off which we jumped down - fine until time to get out. We handed up kids but I'm glad no one was around to see me struggle getting up! Anyway, The private beach thing is a little misleading. One thing to mention is if you are used to city water, bring bottled water with you. The water is very mineral tasting. We had to buy more toilet paper but what bothered my adult kids most was the internet. I don't know if it was inconsistent or just not strong enough but twice they had to drive into town to the Book Nook & Java to do a work thing that took them less than 5 minutes when they got there. They have a lot of plans for future updates and this really is a great house and if you can get to the beach, it is awesome. The deck is great for watching sunsets, the outside shower is great for the kids and they loved the 'no adults' sign on the playhouse.
