Beautiful spot. Great location. Well equipped with everything you need. Great communication with the host. We would definitely book again. Thanks so much for hosting us!!
All in all great place to stay and we enjoyed it. The visits by the deer every morning was a plus. Beautiful part of the country. Quick 10 minute drive to Sugarloaf. Enjoyed our week there, thank you.
Had a wonderful vacation at this VRBO rental. Very clean, had everything we needed and was in the area we wanted. Property manager was very helpful and assisted us as needed. I think this property was rented by fate as my dad is one of the original Bigelow Boys who blazed the trails on Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine and there was a coffee table book called A Story of Sugarloaf that mentioned him at least 3 times. It was wonderful to read about my Dad while we were actually there to bring him on the mountain one more time before he passes. Great experience overall and would highly recommend this rental to anyone visiting Maine.
I rented the Allen Camp for a five day ski trip at Sugarloaf. Over the weekend, we had six adults and two dogs. After the weekend, we had four adults and two dogs. The house felt cozy with six adults. We had plenty of space with four adults. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking ware and miscellaneous spices. We cooked breakfast and dinner most days. The lower level suite was perfect for me and my husband with the two dogs. The bathroom in the lower suite cannot be readily shared with other guests, though. The bedroom on the main floor is suitable for an adult couple. The bedrooms upstairs were great for two adult friends. When the couple left after the weekend, the two adults staying upstairs opted to stay instead of moving down to the room on the main level. The location is great. Very close to Sugarloaf and the perfect neighborhood for walking the dogs. We had a lovely time and would rent the Allen camp again. The host is communicative and responsive. Thanks Colby!
This house is the perfect location for skiing at Sugarloaf. It's about 10 minutes to the mountain and a few more minutes to the Outdoor Center with cross country skiing and skating. Grocery store was also nearby.
The kitchen was stocked with spices and oils, which made it easy to cook without needing to buy too many extras that you might only need small quantities of. The host was helpful and responded promptly. Our family had a great time.
We traveled with 4 adults and 4 kids (ages 5-9). There were enough beds to sleep in (two slept together), but because the kids rooms were in a loft without doors, and there was no door to the master suite in the basement (it takes up the whole floor, down the stairs), we had to be very quiet after the kids were in bed. If you're traveling as a family, 2 kids would have made the house feel more spacious.
The only issue we had was that we weren't able to get the fireplace going. The house was still comfortable to stay in, but would have been nice to have the fireplace. We also noticed that white hairs (possibly dog hair?) from the carpet got stuck to our childrens' clothing over the time we stayed there.
Overall, I'd recommend the house for a maximum of 6 people. We had a great vacation anyway.
We had a lovely time, in a wonderful house, close to the mountain. The layout is excellent, the hot tub was Devine after skiing, the price was great as was the communication with the hosts. To the Allens: Thank you so much from our family. We will be back.
This overall was truly a great stay. Location, house atheistic, drive-way/parking, homey, comfortable, and just enough space to have your friends together. The kitchen was surprisingly well-stalked (spices, plating, glassware, and miscellaneous items). The owner was kind and responsive, the only odd thing was there was no back-up toilet paper to be found or handsoap. Plenty of old hotel conditioner & shampoo. Bring your own toilet-trees and get ready for a terrific stay.
The property was clean. The landlord was easy to deal with. It was a short drive to Sugarloaf and it was convenient having the best restaurant in the area just a stones throw away. The downstairs bedroom felt like a mini suite. The kitchen had everything one would need. Overall, the cabin was nicer than expected.
Our group stayed here and the location was perfect for a trip to Sugarloaf! Less than 15 minutes down the road. The house was cozy with a well-equipped kitchen and the communication with the owners was excellent. Note that the bedrooms upstairs are a loft and there is no door to the basement so sound carries well from the main living space. It worked fine for our group but if separate bedtimes/schedules are important to you that is something to be aware of.
Well stocked and comfortable place with easy access to Sugarloaf!!
Plenty big for the 5 of us. There are sleeping accommodations for more but that would have made things tight during meal times and any whole group activities.
We really enjoyed this cozy ski house. Less that 10 minutes from the Sugarloaf access road. Well socked kitchen. Manager was very helpful after a small hitch getting into the house due to a quirk with Vrbo (as near I can tell). Would stay here again!
Thank you to the Allen’s for the use of their beautiful home. Perfect for both the skiers and snowmobilers in our family! Owners were great to work with and communication was. Lear and concise with excellent house instructions! Highly recommend!
Our group of friends and family had a wonderful time staying at the Coplin Plantation for our ski trip to Sugarloaf! The house was in a great location to get to and from the mountain. The owners were very easy to communicate with and did a great job of making sure things were taken care of with all of the snow that came before our arrival! Would definitely recommend this to groups who are planning to adventure in the area whether that’s skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, etc.!
Truly a lovely place! Really cozy and just what we were looking for. The place was well decorated and had everything you could need to enjoy your stay. The location was beautiful and the views were great.
We absolutely loved our stay here!! We didn’t want to go home! We had no idea what to expect, not having visited western ME before. We hiked, biked, cliff jumped, explored multiple lakes, golfed, saw moose and beautiful wildlife, picked raspberries and blueberries. In two months, we were never bored! The house was great. It was stocked with everything we could have needed and more. It was comfortable, in perfect location, and the owners were very responsive and friendly! My husband is a runner and he fell in love with the trails. We met really nice people, ate awesome food, and shared fabulous adventures. Thanks so much to the Allens for hosting us!
I stayed at Camp Allen over February break with my husband and 3 year old son and this camp was perfect for us. It was the right size for one family (we didn’t use the loft bedrooms) but would have accommodated two families very well. It’s very nicely furnished with lots of Sugarloaf decor and snuggly blankets which is always a plus; we felt like we were in a cozy B&B. The Jacuzzi tub was wonderful, though because it was so deep, I needed to get in to bathe my son (not a negative 😉). The kitchen was well equipped with excellent knives, a rarity in rentals, though we would have liked a drying rack. The Sugarloaf access road was an easy 10 minute drive down the road. Stratton access was even easier, with the Coplin Dinner House and Backstrap Bar & Grill about 2 minutes away.
We were getting a little worried about entry information which we received about 18 hours before we were due to arrive. We often get this 1-2 weeks in advance for rentals and earlier communication would have allayed our fears.
Overall an excellent stay; we would absolutely rent here again!
Allen's House was a pleasure for our whole crew. We had 7 people rent the space for a snowmobile trip in the area. the House was very cozy and welcoming. The space was very clean and well maintained. The owners are very responsive, have great communication and make sure your stay is everything it can be! House is a great size for a group of 7, the kitchen table just got tight at times. The heat worked great and we had no issues with anything. For snowmobiling, yes you get right to the ITS trails, but it is a mixture of dirt roads and trails for under a mile. Plow was ready for the snow as it fell to make sure your stay is safe! I would recommend this place and will be on the list again for next year! Don't hesitate to book this place!
