About this property

Charming comfortable chalet in Bareges

The property is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Barèges, within easy access of the free ski bus and a short walk to the village centre. It has been very recently refurbished and is very comfortable and welcoming. The large sitting room has a traditional fireplace, TV, DVD player and a selection of games and books. The dining room will seat 16 around a large table, perfect for sociable, leisurely meals. The fully equipped kitchen has a large modern range cooker, fridge- freezer, microwave and dishwasher. One of the two bathrooms has been completely re-fitted and now boasts a deep free standing bath for soaking away the day’s activities. The chalet is fully centrally heated, with plenty of hot water always available on demand. There is storage inside the chalet for skis, boots, etc..


Winter activities: There are several good ski rental shops in Bareges and two friendly ski schools, both with English speaking instructors. They both offer either group or private lessons. There are also dog sled rides and snow mobile hire up in the ski area, or if you wish, it is possible to hire a guide to take you off-piste

Summer activities: The village has a paragliding school, quad bike hire, and the largest privately owned botanical gardens in France. The walking is very extensive and suitable for all levels. The famous Pic du Midi observatory is easily reached by cable car from La Mongie over the spectacular Col Du Tourmalet. For those who like a challenge, it is a 10km uphill climb by bike to the Col du Tourmalet from Bareges village. The other cols which the Tour de France pass over are within an easy car ride.

Les potes à la compote à la neige

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine de nouvelle an. Nous étions 3 familles d'amis - 544, le logement nous a permis de nous repartir confortablement.Un gros plus pour la cheminée ! Le ski a été bon, le départ est à seulement 10 min en voiture.

Séjour noël à la neige

Chalet bien situé pour accéder au village de Barèges. Bel espace pour le salon et ses nombreux canapés. La salle à manger un peu petite avec ses chaises imposantes mais sinon tout est ok. Super d'avoir un endroit où disposer les affaires de ski.Les concierges et les propriétaires sont disponibles et répondent très vite à nos demandes.

Super séjour

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour dans le chalet qui correspond parfaitement à l’annonce. Il était très bien adapté à notre réunion de famille pour le nouvel an. Nous étions 8 adultes et 5 enfants, chacun avait suffisamment de place. Merci à Elinor et William, ainsi qu’à Lesley pour l’accueil chaleureux!

Une belle expérience

Très grand chalet très bien équipé (à l’exception des moules pour gâteaux et quiches). Un super accueil par les personnes sur site. De nombreuses randonnées sont accessibles à pied depuis le chalet. L’ambiance désuète du salon avec ses tapis et ses fauteuils profonds a été appréciée. Merci d’avoir même installé un sapin et des décorations de Noël . Attention aux personnes allergiques : il y a des tapis dans toute la maison.

Agréable séjour à Barèges pendant les vacances de Noël

Le chalet est très "cosy",mais, en raison de l'exiguité de la salle à manger et du salon, est mieux adapté à un groupe de 12 personnes( ce que nous étions) qu'à un groupe de 18, capacité maximale en couchage. Excellent accueil de la part des propriétaires ! L'équipement de la cuisine est parfait. Toutefois il faut savoir que le chalet est au bord d'une route trés fréquentée où l'on roule très vite;l'allée réservèe au parking,lègèrement en contrebas du chalet est certes facile d'accès, mais il est trés difficile d'en ressortir! On a donc utilisé le parking d'en face, en principe privé... Les 2 chambres de l'étage sont communicantes donc non autonomes et la première donne directement sur le salon par l'escalier, sans qu'il y ait une porte.

La montagne en hiver

Bon emplacement pour accéder à la station. Gite convenable pour 15 personnes. Trop de moquette pour une propreté correcte à notre avis. Aussi, table de salle à manger trop large par rapport à la pièce.

Un bon séjour au chalet du Bastan

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié la cuisine et son équipement de bonne qualité. Nous avons apprécié également le lave linge et le sèche linge ainsi que la buanderie. Nous étions 10 adultes et 8 enfants, les chambres nous ont donné satisfaction. Le large salon permet diverses activités. La salle à manger est un peut étroite avec une trop large table et des chaises imposantes, pour s'y tenir à 18 il faut vraiment serré les coudes. Un tel logement mériterait un équipement pour petit enfant.

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour en famille.

Le chalet est très chaleureux et bien conçu. Nous étions 8 adultes et 8 enfants. Le fait d'avoir des chambres sur deux niveaux a permis d'avoir des espaces de liberté pour chacun. Nous n'avons pas eu de neige mais nous avons fait de belles balades. Le chalet est bien isolé. Nous avons eu de l'eau chaude à volonté et il faisait bon dans le gîte. Seule remarque: manque de place dans la salle à manger car la table est très large et les chaises imposantes. Les propriétaires sont à l'écoute et répondent aux mails rapidement. Les personnes qui ont réalisé l'état des lieux ont été très accueillantes. Nous conseillons ce gîte.

Le chalet et bien équipé pour des vacances en groupe ou en famille ,et pas très loin de la station.Seul bémol: le chauffage. Il ne peut pas être réglé et il est programmé de sorte que de 10 h à 16 h il se coupe ainsi qu'une partie de la nuit , donc pour les personnes qui ne skient pas et qui restent au chalet l’après midi on se gèle! Ce serait facile de remédier à cela il suffirait de permettre aux locataires de régler le chauffage, mémé si cela un coup supplémentaire. Mais auprix demandé à la semaine je pense que l'on peut exiger d’être chauffé correctement.

We are farmers from Warwickshire who have developed a deep love for the French Pyrenees and everything that it offers. We first visited Bareges in 1980, when we skied for the first time. We came back 22 years later with our two sons and knew that this was where we wanted to ski as a family.

Why they chose this property

The chalet came on the market and we could see its potential. Over the years that we have had it we have worked hard to maintain a relaxed family feel to it where we love to come and bring our friends. We consider it our home, and hope our guests feel just as happy as we do when we are there. We have kept it deliberately traditionally Pyrenean in feel, with a well equipped kitchen and a huge dining table for fabulous nights eating and socialising

What makes this property unique

Sleeps 16, with off road parking for 3-4 cars. the chalet has an open fire with wood provided for your stay. The central heating keeps the place very warm and there is plenty of hot water always available if you fancy a long soak in the bath!
