This is the perfect unpretentious cottage for family fun with 100 feet of frontage on Little Sebago Lake! Enjoy a large lawn that leads to a sandy swimming area. Family room leads to 3 season porch with French doors to the lake. There is a pull out sofa in the porch but please note: the porch has only supplemental heat (not good for winter/cold nights). Great flat yard for sports or cornhole. Stone patio with fire pit and a unique stone fireplace built in 1953. You can usually find plenty of water toys at the house, including 3 paddle boards, kayak, canoe, blow up boat, floats etc (please note: we can't guarantee availability of toys/outdoor accessories, ask if you're hoping for something specific!)!
For summer stays: we have 3 window ACs! Most people find this is plenty to keep cool.

Beautiful lake view and ideal location close to Portland but far enough away to feel peaceful. Main bedroom had a very comfortable bed and direct lake view. We enjoyed the amenities such as the canoe and fire pit. Our only suggestion would be to stock some basics: napkins, dish detergent, trash bags, etc.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay with our dog, Georgia. The neighborhood was quiet and neighbors were friendly. We spent much of our time in the back yard, playing with the dog and gazing at the water.
Our third time staying at the lake house and as usual it was amazing! Great place to relax and centrally located to alot of things. We look forward to our next stay here! Owners are very easy to communicate with and respond quickly. Would highly recommend staying here!
This cabin was a wonderful retreat for us and our little Morkie. Very nicely decorated and equipped with pretty much everything you could possibly need during your stay. Aside from just a few 'honey-do' upkeep items that need attention, it's an overall very well-kept and inviting
Good sized house with more than enough room for a grown family. Quiet hidden cove on the lake. A lot of fun water and yard toys. Comfortable! Friendly neighborhood.
We had a fantastic week staying at Melanie’s cabin on Little Sebago! The house has a great waterfront, on a protected cove that made paddling, fishing, swimming, and sitting on the dock so enjoyable. We met a number of the neighbors, who were all extremely friendly and welcoming. There is so much to do in the area, but the highlight was seeing the fireworks on the lake! The cabin had everything we needed for a great vacation!
What an enjoyable week at this cottage! We found it to be very clean and comfortable. To have air conditioners in the bedrooms was definitely a plus. Should you take a walk, all the neighbors are very friendly. Very close to the town of Windham for shopping.
Will definitely be back next year!! 😊

We had one day of rain during our short visit, but took it as a day for just hanging out and relaxing. Our dog loved every minute of it. She got to sniff all the new sniffs. We met a couple of the neighbors; one was extremely nice, Bill. The bed was super comfy. Met the cleaning lady on the way out. She was very sweet and had beautiful blue eyes :-)

Beautiful, peaceful and relaxing!
This was just the location and place I needed to attend a week long rug camp. I could bring my dog, enjoy the lake view and go exploring to local craft stores, thrift shops, restaurants etc. If more friends had joined me in the rental, it would have been very tight. there was really only one master bedroom, and the pull out couch had the typical "bar in your back", the bunk bed room was not suitable for adults.
The lake house is a perfect place to decompress and re-energize, very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The house is equipped with everything you need for a great stay. Located right on the pond, walks on the ice with coffee were a morning ritual. Very quiet neighborhood and located about 5 minutes from stores/Seacoast fun park. Tubing was a blast! Dinner at the Deck House was really good. Portland was only 30 minutes away with lots to do and see there. This was our 2nd stay here and will definitely plan on a 3rd. Thank you Melanie!
This property checked every box we had for a relaxing vacation and we had absolutely no issues at all! It was our first time trying VRBO and Melanie was great! She answered all my questions in advance and was always kind and polite, the overall experience was great! We were lucky to have the perfect lake weather in late June and spent the whole time outside - I was especially happy we were allowed to use the paddle boards from the shed - saved me the headache of trying to find and carrying rentals around! When it got a bit cooler, we went out for a hike - there’s so many trails in the area, it’s very hard to choose one! We ate our weight in lobster (Captain Jack’s in Naples was a hit!) and we also loved the proximity to Portland. It’s one of our favorite cities in the US and we love spending time there too.All in all, a great vacation and experience. We hope our travel plans take us back in the area soon, we’d happily stay at Melanie’s house again!
We traveled up from Portland by car. easy to get access to. Good communication. Pretty place next to a portion of the larger lake. House is nice and cozy. Access to the water directly from the back. Good internet. Easy to use HVAC system (we needed heat, only. We did not make use of the available window AC units). Provided sheets and pillows are adequate. If you're driving in, consider bringing your own, but that is a preference and not a ding in any way. Recommended.

Not as nice as it could be
Not as well kept as it should have been. We had to clean dog hair in all of the rooms before we could sleep there. We had to rake leaves and pine needles from the lake before the grandchildren could swim. We cleaned the paddleboards and other beach toys before useing. There was standing water in the laundry room which was starting to mildew.
That said, we did have a very good time.
Meline was very nice to talk with, she just neefs to have a better maintence team .

Unfortunately we weren't happy with our stay completely. The neighborhood is nice, neighbors are very pleasant and location was great to all the things we love to do in that area. The house is a decent size and the view from the master is pretty. Great spot for water activities like canoeing or paddle boarding. Melanie answered any questions and check in and out is very easy. We had a big issue with the sandy bottom swimming as there was sand underneath the many layers of years worth of old leaves algie and many branches/tree limbs. Not great to swim and very dangerous for kids. So my husband and I spent over 3 hrs wracking the pond to clear a safe and clean space for our children to swim. Then the dock you see in the pictures is also not out so my kids got board very quickly. Not much swimming. Last year we stayed at a place they swam all day every day. This is the main reason we pay to stay on the water. The house is cleaned ok. Personally you can see this just seems to be a rental property with alot of stuff and worn out stuff.
We had such a great week. This place offered everything we wanted. We had 4 teenagers and 2 adults. We spent most of our time fishing and swimming. We did bring our own canoe, paddle board, kayak and water floats. There are pine needles everywhere so we had to rake the yard and the water everyday. The dock was great for fishing and tying up our canoe. It was nice to have access to picnic tables and a gas grill (we did bring our own propane tank and had to take the grill apart to clean it before we could use it). The master bed was very comfortable but the bunk beds were not suitable for 4 teenagers so 2 of them slept down stairs on the couches. It was a hot week so the 3 air conditioners were necessary. The kids downstairs wished they had had a fan. The kitchen was well stocked and had what we needed. Minor inconvenience, I didn't know we needed to bring our own toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, dishwasher detg until we ran out. We made several trips to the store which is only 10 min away so it worked out. Overall, this was one of the best family vacations we've had and we hope to be back next year.
When we arrived we did notice a few things broken which we told the owner and she was very responsive. figuring out the light switches was interesting just simple labels would help. The outdoor area was beautiful and the area very quiet which we liked. Very convenient to Windham center, Freeport and Portland. I think it would be great for families.

About the host

My family and I have lived in the South End in Boston for the past 15 years. Jon and I met at Colby College when we were students there in 98 and fell in love with Maine. In 2018 we decided to purchase a lake house so that our three boys and golden retriever could spend time outdoors away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We will use the property as an investment property and rent it out to other families during times that we can no use our home.
