Classic Maine waterfront cottage on pristine Highland Lake Windham/Falmouth
Highland Lake is a beautiful private pristine lake located in Windham/Falmouth Maine. Our lake is fed by springs and streams. The south end of the lake empties into a channel and becomes a tributary of the Presumpscot River, and then onto Casco Bay. We have some of the best fishing and sunsets around! The lake is perfect for kayaking, viewing wildlife, swimming, sunning, relaxing with friends, family, books, puzzles and enjoying great local food! You"ll find that Fayth Cottage is in a peaceful setting nestled in a classic lakeside community speckled with cottages and homes all along a preserved shoreline. You will have private access to 100 feet of shoreline, a stationary dock and a floating dock. Enjoy a beautiful sunset, listen to the loons or take our double and single kayaks out on the water to explore the lake. Feel like a change of pace? Jump in your car and head to Portland and in 15 minutes you'll find yourself in a food lovers paradise! The city is home to some of the best chefs who have relocated from around the globe, making Portland one of the hottest spots nationally on the food scene. You can also hop on a ferry in the Old Port to visit or tour the islands in Casco Bay. There are museums, music venues, and historical sites (not to mention water) all in and around the greater Portland area. In addition to our beautiful spot on Highland Lake there are beaches close by for day or afternoon trips. Freeport, home of our beloved LL Bean flagship store and campus is only a car ride away. There you will find outlets, coffee shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors, cafes and much more. Also located in Freeport is Wolfes Neck Woods State Park. It's well worth checking out if you want to decompress from an afternoon of shopping. Its a short drive from the village and the views are breathtaking. The park is composed of woodlands, estuaries, rocky coast line, guided nature walks and osprey watching. One of the many amazing things about Highland Lake is its proximity to vastly different landscapes in the surrounding area. We have mountains, rivers, lakes, ocean, hiking, fishing, boating all within a reasonable distance to make your vacation filled with a rich experience of what our beautiful state has to offer. Whether you want to drop your bags and kick back for your entire stay at our home, or maybe you have an interest in exploring and experiencing the many things our area has to offer, you couldn't have picked a better spot than Fayth Cottage! By the end of your stay we hope that you will understand why we affectionally say " Maine, the way life should be"!

We had an outstanding experience! The camp was perfect for us our son our daughter in law and our 2 grandchildren ages 1.5 and 5. Teresa was an fantastic host and we had no problems at all. Will definitely be back.
This was our second stay, and we enjoyed it even more this time. We had paddle boards delivered and there are kayaks at the house are great. Teresa’s lake house is easy to get to and also feels far away from Portland. The sound of the loons, morning paddles, family time. It doesn’t get any better. Fresh cut wildflowers in each room was a nice touch too!
Highland Lake is a hidden treasure. (We had no idea lake was private until we arrived!) Fayth Cottage was the perfect spot to enjoy the water. Portland Paddle was awesome as well with their paddle board rentals. Delivery and pickup totally seamless. Stunning sunsets. The cottage is charming and cozy. Everything we needed was there! 🌎💙🌎

I’m so happy you enjoyed your time at the cottage Linda, please come back and see us again on Highland Lake!
A lovely, recently renovated cottage steps from the lake. This house, unlike so many rentals where we have stayed, feels as though you are home. Extremely well appointed with quality, tasteful furnishings and a fully appointed kitchen. Clearly this is a house also visited by its owner!
My only minor suggestion would be to have an air conditioner or two in the bedrooms, especially as our Maine summers keep getting warmer and warmer.
We loved our week here. Everything was great. Be aware that there's no air conditioning upstairs in the bedrooms, but it cooled off every night with the fans and was comfortable. Also, be aware that the ceilings are a bit low. My son is 6'6" and had to duck often. But we loved our week here.
When we arrived the cottage was so welcoming and clean. It had everything to make our trip wonderful including comfortable beds, nice linens, well stocked kitchen. The pictures are a true representation of the house and the view of the lake was even better than expected! A two person kayak is provided and was a wonderful way to check out the lake and the wild life. Plenty of places to sit, look at the lake and read a good book. Took time to make a trip into Portland for some sight seeing and a wonderful meal. This little city that sits on Casco Bay has so much to enjoy for all ages. Took a day trip around Casco Bay on a ferry to check out all the islands. So much fun for the whole family. A stop at Holy Donut in the Old Port is a must ! We will be back to Highland Lake for sure next summer! Thank you for one of the best vacations ever!
We had a wonderful stay! The house was beautifully clean, well-appointed, and provided a cozy, comfortable environment. While the oven was unfortunately broken during our visit, and they couldn't arrange for a repair while we were there, the host did offer a small reimbursement for the inconvenience. We had planned to cook most of our meals, so this was a bit of a setback, but it didn't overshadow the overall experience.
The house itself is lovely, and we especially enjoyed spending time on the dock by the warm lake—a perfect spot for relaxation. Just a note for future guests: there’s only one bathroom, located on the first floor, while the bedrooms are upstairs. This could be a challenge for those who get up frequently during the night or have mobility concerns. Despite this, we found the property to be a great getaway spot!
Beautiful property on the lake. Clean, well maintained and decorated, and generously appointed with the needed supplies. Lots of room to spread out, people could sleep in the finished walk out basement as well. Quiet lake and neighborhood, very peaceful. Tall people should know that bedrooms are upstairs in a converted attic with low archways. Middle of the night bathroom trips require a trip downstairs to the first floor. None of these detracted from our experience at this nice house.
Our family of five (3 teenagers) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quaint cottage! The home is just as displayed in the pictures and Teresa was great to work with. The surrounding area offers many fun outings and day trips.
The cottage is absolutely perfect and feels like a fairytale. Gorgeous views of the lake, and the house has such a warm fun feeling when you aren’t out on the water. So much to do nearby, but also no need to ever leave as the kitchen has everything.. Teresa the owner could not have been more kind and welcoming, and it truly felt like a home and not just a rental. We will be back for many years to come
The perfect setting for family with older kids. We loved the house and spent our days enjoying kayaking and paddle boarding. Portland Paddle delivery and pick up was a cinch. What a spoil with great towels and linens (not to mention a garbage and recycling pick up!). Fresh herbs to cook with right out the back door. We will be back again and I already can’t wait!
We stayed for a week with our two sons 19 and 21. The cottage has great lake access and beautiful afternoon/evening sun and sunsets. The swimming is nice and there is a bench on the dock which is nice for reading. We paddled the kayaks around the lake. The wifi connection is really strong. The kitchen is modern with everything needed. We made several trips to Portland which is about 20-25 min drive. Teresa answered all questions promptly and is a very responsive host.
My husband, daughter and I enjoyed a week on Lake Highland at this cottage. The house was very clean and modern my decorated; we loved the plentiful windows and views of the lake! We took full advantage of the water front location - kayaking daily and swimming of the dock when warm enough. We loved the sunsets at night and spent most nights grilling and eating at the outside table. When we wanted to go explore, both Portland and Freeport are only short drives away. This was a great getaway in a quiet lake community. Would definitely come back!

Thank you Rebecca, I'm so happy you were able to enjoy the Portland area, the cottage and the lake with beautiful sunsets and meals outside overlooking the water! I've always felt so lucky to have enjoyed the same thing with family and friends over the years. Please come back and join us again at Highland Lake!
Teresa
Great place with plenty of space and various places to catch sun or shade at any time of the day. Well stocked kitchen and really a treat to have all the linens and beach towels available. The loons and bird music was fantastic.
I would definitely be careful with small kids here. There are a lot of steps leading down to the water.

Highland Lake cottage
I definitely recommend this property. This is a very cute, comfortable, clean cottage, well appointed and decorated (as accurately depicted in the photos). It has a nice view of the lake and sunsets. Bedrooms are cozy, but well laid out. I think it important for potential renters to know that bedrooms are on second floor and nearest bathroom is on first floor. So nighttime toilet usage does require a trek down rather steep stairs. Cottage is on a little-used road, so walks in the neighborhood were safe and easy. There are nearby parks / playgrounds. Excursions into Falmouth and Portland took about 20-25 minutes. Owner was very friendly, however she was late in getting check-in information to me, causing some anxiety on my part... She did stay in contact during our visit to ensure we had everything we needed. All-in-all, a very good experience.

A truly lovely lake cottage with everything you need
Fayth Cottage is a gem - the perfect marriage of close to attractions of Portland/Casco Bay and Mid-Coast Maine, but also a refuge on a lake that you never need leave unless you want to. The modern kitchen is well outfitted for those who like to cook, with a Hannaford’s w/in a 15” drive. The grounds have multiple seating areas to enjoy the view, depending on time of day - the dock is situated for sunsets. The grill was most appreciated. There’s a two-person kayak (complete with PFDs, beach towels, etc) to explore Highland Lake. The finished basement allows a bit more privacy for teenagers or two family visitors. Teresa is a very accommodating host who answered our many questions with an attitude of generosity, aimed at helping us make the most of our vacation - not to mention the gifts of fresh veggies and homemade jam! We SO enjoyed our time in Maine, and will be back!

Lovely lakeside cottage
We loved staying on Highland Lake! I couldn't keep my two sons out of the lake, and the house was such a relaxing place to stay. Houses are really close together on this part of the lake but we barely noticed anyone else...felt peaceful all week long. The living areas are cozy and comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and there were so many places to curl up and relax, both inside and out. We would love to come back someday!

Awesome Lake House!
I stayed at this property for a small family reunion this August and we had a blast! I was getting together with my siblings and my cousins and we loved the house and the lake. The house is beautiful, there is a great view from the living room right down to the water.
The best part of all though was the lake, there is a long staircase down to the water and there is a deck to sit on and a dock as well. We spent all day outside swimming and using the kayak that was there and we also brought our paddleboards! It was fun to lounge with the fam this summer. There was also a space to have a campfire, which is always my favorite part of vacation.
Teresa was great to rent from! She was so responsive and she even left a gift basket and a nice note for us when we arrived.

We spent an amazing week on Highland Lake in Maine. This lake is truly a hidden gem!
When we arrived at the cottage we were so happy with what we walked into! The place was so clean, the view was incredible and the space was perfect for our family of 5. Teresa was wonderful to work with, she told us all about the area, suggested things of interest and gave us recommendations of where to go. The location of this place is great if you want to fit any day trips in while on vacation. The lake was truly beautiful and serene. We swam, kayaked, paddle boarded and my son and husband went fishing one afternoon! The cottage is equipped with everything you need for a great vacation. We also had s'mores at night around the camp fire. We will definitely be back next summer! One of our best family vacations ever!

Perfect Lakeside Getaway Spot
Hello,
Thank you so much for the wonderful experience of staying in your sweet cottage by the lake. Normally my husband John and I head the other direction to South Jersey for a getaway. So delighted that we changed it up this time around. Your property is beautiful. Even the rain did not dampen our experience.
Your cozy, serene cottage was the perfect place to pass the time.
Your recommendations in Portland were spot on. We heeded your advice and found each and every place just as you described. We especially loved J's Oyster Bar and the new restaurant called Scales just one pier over.
You are a too notch host and we will not hesitate to pass the word on to other travelers.
Can't wait to see you again next year, but next time we will spending a week.
Cheers,
Jenni
PS if I had to make one suggestion it would. be to hang a hammock, not that there aren't plenty of places to chill out already. But I can picture myself reading a great book while rocking to the sound of the water hitting your dock and nodding off for a perfect afternoon nap. THANKS!

Relaxing, Rejuvenating Girls Getaway
This lovely lakeside cottage was the perfect property for our girls getaway/college reunion. It was very easy falling into a stress-free routine here. Morning coffee on the dock followed by hiking, we found amazing trails less than two miles away. Then back to the cottage for lunch overlooking the lake and afternoons spent reconnecting, reading, lounging
and napping in cozy little spots throughout the cottage. The home was fresh, clean and well appointed..loved the bedding!
We are looking forward to returning when the weather is a bit warmer to take advantage of the two person kayak. I highly recommend this rental for your next relaxing getaway.

Clean, bright and the views....
Thank you for sharing your home. My daughter, who was home from Spain for a wedding, thought we'd have more time together if we all stayed someplace together. Your place was perfect. The house was clean and tastefully decorated. New linens, a well stocked kitchen, nice size bathroom and incredible views of the lake all helped to make our stay very relaxing. Portland was tempting, however, we decided to dash to the market and cook in, enjoying cocktails by the lake watching the sun set. Overall, a very peaceful getaway. We'll be back.

About the host
Hosted by Teresa Fay
I grew up on the North Shore of Boston. For the last 22 years I have lived in Philadelphia where I raised my four children. We bought the cottage when the kids were small and we had the luxury of spending summers here for most of their childhood. It was the perfect escape from the hot summer nights in the city. It also gave my children a sense of their New England roots, something I came to realize they would never learn from being Eagle and Phillies fans! Spending summers on the lake was magical but as time has it, kids grow, they go off to college and life begins to move swiftly. Three of my children are now in college and my youngest is in high school. Although we are not abel to spend as much time as we would like to due to changing schedules with school and work, two of my children have not missed a summer yet here in Maine! Its safe to say that they are drawn to this amazing area and return when school is out to work at a local camp and farm. We hope that you can create some memories here at our special spot on Highland Lake. Its a great place to sit around a campfire, relax on the dock, explore the water and take in all the beauty that this area has to offer with family and friends. Enjoy!
Why they chose this property
One of the main reasons why I purchased this property (besides being located on the lake) was its proximity to all the surrounding areas and what each one has to offer. I love that I can be in a city with only a short car ride, yet feel like I'm a million miles away from it as well! I love the tranquility of the lake, the sound of the loons, the peaceful kayaking and the serene sunsets, yet the ocean with all its roaring personality is just miles away. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials you need to prepare beautiful meals while enjoying a magnificent view.
What makes this property unique
We hope you enjoy the cottage as much as we do and that you are able to enjoy the benefits of being close to so many wonderful Maine attractions. The culture, the topography, the wildlife, the weather, the locals and the attitude that comes with it all is such a gift to experience. Enjoy yourself and please let us know if there is anything that you need. We will try our best to accommodate you during your stay.
