About this property

Waterfront Home in New Bern Gated Community

Lovely 3 bedroom, open floor plan, waterfront home in a quiet gated community.

You can swim in the outdoor and indoor pools at our neighborhood recreation center, and enjoy biking, kayaking, and fishing, all without leaving the neighborhood. You may also golf (and dine) at the 18-hole neighborhood golf course (green fees apply, see https://www.harbourpointegolfclub.com).

Downtown New Bern is about 6 miles from our home neighborhood, where you may tour Tryon Palace and other historical sites, shop the many boutiques (and an old-fashioned hardware store) and dine in the quaint downtown.
Atlantic Beach is less than an hour away.

The house has several living areas. First, there's a large living room with cathedral ceilings and comfortable couches where you can chat or watch TV. This room connects to a dining room, which is set up to seat 6 (an additional table leaf and chairs are available for a couple more.

Next is a sunroom with two couches and a wrap-around view of the waterfront (our favorite hangout in cold or wet weather).

Finally, there's a large covered screened porch to enjoy the water view and the breezes. This porch has lounge seating for 6-7 people, as well as a tall glass-top dining table with bar-height chairs that seats 4.

There are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and an en-suite bath with shower. It includes a walk-in closet, a desk and chair, and a chaise lounge. Sliding glass doors open onto the screened porch, which overlooks the water.
The second bedroom has a queen bed and a nice view of the water, and the third bedroom has a full sized bed and a twin bed. The latter two rooms share a full bathroom, with shower/tub.

All linens are provided.

Wonderful house for a getaway!
We stayed here for a week and enjoyed it thoroughly. The weather wasn't that great so we couldn't go kayaking as much as we wanted. We did enjoy the sunroom and screened in porch. I was able to work remotely and setup my desk (a folding table I brought with me) in the sunroom so I could overlook the water while I worked. I had several video calls and had no internet issues. The house itself is laid out nicely with the master bath on one side and the 2 other bedrooms on the other. Since it was just the two of us, we didn't use the other 2 bedrooms but it would work well for a larger family. The kitchen was well stocked and we found everything we needed for a week-long stay. The location is great. Not too far from New Bern but far enough to be away from the crowds. I highly recommend it.

6004 Booty Lane New Bern Nc
The home is well furnished and taken care of. A beautiful back yard to enjoy outdoor activities. The owners furnished plenty of outdoor games as well as board games and a nice collection of books, kayaks (the home is located right on the water.) Very good communication with the owners. We would return to their home again.

Great house in a great area
The house was very comfortable and clean. Even with my limited mobility, every thing was convenient and easy to use. The view and location are wonderful and quiet. We really enjoyed New Bern--a walkable city with lots of shops, trees, benches and easy parking. Good restaurants. Convenient Food Lion just 10 minutes away from the house.

Wonderful home away from home
The home could not have been better as 6004 Booty Lane was just what we were looking for. Clean and plenty of space for the 6 of us that came together to spend Easter together as a family. Tom & Cindy were great to work with and were very responsive to all questions. Thank you for opening your home up to us.

About the host

Hosted by Tom and Cindy Richards

Host profile image
Tom and Cindy have lived and worked in Raleigh for most of their lives, but the coast is their favorite part of North Carolina. Cindy is a Financial Planner, and Tom is a recently-retired Software Developer and part-time musician. Their children attended UNC and NC State, and are both now gainfully employed.

Why they chose this property

Fairfield Harbour offers a unique and relatively affordable opportunity to own a home on the water. The waterway behind the house connects to the Neuse River, which in turn leads downstream to the Atlantic (or to downtown New Bern, if one heads the other direction), so there are countless interesting destinations reachable by land or by water.
More info about the neighborhood can be found here: https://www.ncrmg.com/

What makes this property unique

On a clear night, the stars are breathtaking, because there are so few man-made light sources to obscure them. Just step outside and look up! To preserve the night view, the neighborhood opted not to install streetlights.

Often a fresh sea breeze arrives in the late afternoon / early evening, which is always welcome after a warm day.

We always sleep better here than in our Raleigh home -- perhaps it's the proximity to the coast, or the quality of the air, or the peaceful, quiet nights.
