Private oasis on the Bay
Very well appointed and stocked spacious home, on a beautiful private property directly on the Bay. Fantastic views and sunsets. Host provides lots of recreation toys and has a excellent docking/ramp facility for convenience. Susan is committed to providing the best possible experience for her guests. Would highly recommend.

Lovely home by the water
This is a lovely home by the water. We enjoyed having the dock right there for our boat as well as fishing and kayaking. The house has everything you need to enjoy the area including beach equipment. The owner even provided some local places to check out for dining and a guide to the general area. We had a very hot and humid week which found us inside quite a bit but the screened porch was awesome!

Relaxing vacation 2023
The house is beautiful and matched the description and photos online. I spent a lot of time reading in the screened in porch where it was so peaceful looking at the water views and hearing the birds and seeing the wildlife on the property. Susan provided a list of area attractions which was very helpful so we ventured to Chincoteague and visited the NASA visitor center on our way home. There was a launch scheduled during the week of our stay however due to weather it was postponed. If there were any questions we had, Susan was very responsive with answers. She made sure we had everything that we needed to make our vacation enjoyable.

About the host

We're a close family of globe-trotting professionals: lawyers, business, government, law enforcement, the works. This is a well-loved family home designed for comfort and delight. We take our skiff or the kayaks out to deserted islands for barbeques and picnics in the summer then come home for drinks on the porch, a game of croquet and crabs, corn, and tomatoes, plus sweet potato rolls from a local bakery, one of the shore specialties. In the Fall, we pick apples from the orchards and make pies. Winter brings oyster roasts and festivals at the local wineries and wood fires in the living room. Spring is full of blossoms and nesting birds. The house is beautiful and decorated with local art--not cookie-cutter or sterile. We like to cook and the kitchen is well-equipped. The house is set back down a long private drive and right on the Bay. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

Walk back in time to when life was lived close to the land and water when you stay at Sunshine Bay. There are still working watermen and women in the village. Call and they will bring fresh crabs to the door. Neighbors are welcoming and love to gather on the porch. Stargaze at night with a sparkling display on clear nights. House has docks and a creek leading out to the Bay for easy kayaking or boating. Explore a different deserted island each day. Take the bikes out on the largely flat roads. Visit charming small towns like Onancock and Wachapreague, "the Flounder Fishing Capital of the World (!)" If you need a beautiful and welcoming place for a romantic weekend or with family and friends this is it. Come and enjoy its unique charm.

What makes this property unique

Secluded and peaceful but close to interesting towns, islands, antiques, wildlife. Perfect place for some serious hammock time with a book and pitcher of lemonade or to gather with friends on the screened porch. Good for children and pets as there is a white picket fence surrounding the house. Step outside each morning and greet the blue herons fishing in the dock area, the white snowy egrets nesting in the salt marsh and the blue birds or hummingbirds in the yard. Jog, walk, bike, take the kayaks out or bring your boat.
