About this property
Beautiful Gulf View 2BR/2BA Condo with Beach Setup and Great Pool
We are the owners of this fourth floor 2 BR 2BA condo in Emerald Isle Beach Club. Our unit (410) has direct Gulf views from the entry hall, kitchen, dining room, living room, master bedroom, and balcony. Imagine waking up each day to see the beautiful Gulf water and white sandy beach. Check out the pictures to see the exact views from our condo (click on each photo for full-size version with captions). A quick walk along the building brings you to the large beachside swimming pool, private boardwalk to the sand and surf, picnic patio with charcoal grills, tennis court, and the gorgeous white sugar-sand beach of the Emerald Coast.
The entire Emerald Isle complex underwent a year-long major renovation in 2016 with all new sliding glass doors, windows, paint, elevators, and amenities that include laundry rooms that accept Credit Cards as well as quarters. In addition, since purchasing this condo in 2015, we have remodeled the kitchen and installed all new appliances and granite countertops, and have also remodeled the Master Bath with walk-in tiled shower.
Emerald Isle, with just 70 units, is family friendly as well as welcoming to snowbirds. Our unit says "beach vacation" the minute you step in. This all tiled condo has high speed internet, King bed in master bedroom, Queen bed and single bed in 2nd BR. Both bedrooms have wall-mounted flat screen TVs, while LR has a 50" flat screen wall-mounted TV. A new (2024) sleeper sofa in the LR opens to make a Queen bed. Our kitchen is fully furnished, including a 4-slice toaster, a coffee grinder, a Keurig Duo Plus, which makes a standard single K cup or a full pot (using regular grind coffee). Beach service (large umbrella and 2 chairs) is included with the unit from March 1-Oct 31 and is set up for you on the beach each day. The beautiful pool is heated in March and April, and in October and November.
We provide an initial “start-up” supply of essential items for your stay, including
--toilet paper
--paper towels
--hand soap & hand sanitizer
--several dishwasher pods
--trash bags
--salt & pepper
--some K-cup coffee pods (plus filters for full pot)
These should easily get you through your first 24 – 48 hours. The Shoppes at Paradise Point at the foot of the Brooks Bridge is only 2 miles away, has a Publix Supermarket, Beach Liquors, and more for convenient shopping. A Tom Thumb minimart is within walking distance on Santa Rosa Boulevard.
We recommend you bring additional paper towels, toilet paper, trash bags, napkins, condiments, spices, your favorite ground coffee (or K-cups), laundry soap, beach towels, sunscreen, plus anything else you may need for your perfect vacation.
Sliding doors from the living room and master bedroom provide access to the balcony that overlooks the Gulf. A small patio table with 5 chairs and a chaise lounge provide a relaxing spot to spend some leisure time, listen to the waves, have your morning coffee, and watch for dolphins (a common sight).
Several golf courses are located within a 20 mile radius and lots of great restaurants are close by on Okaloosa Island. Charter boats for deep sea fishing are 5 minutes from the condo. Downtown Fort Walton Beach and a shopping mall are only 10 minutes away. As noted above, a Publix Grocery is 3-1/2 miles from the condo, and a Tom Thumb convenience store is within walking distance.
EC Rider, the Okaloosa Island Transit Service has a bus stop (Route 20 - Stop 18 - Sailfish Drive) right in front of Emerald Isle Condos on Santa Rosa Blvd. Buses run Monday through Friday 7:30am - 6:30pm Memorial Day - Labor Day, arriving at each stop every 20 minutes. Winter schedules are slightly different.

About the host
Hosted by D. L. Kaltreider

My husband and I are retired educators and Pennsylvania natives who also lived on and operated a farm in Central PA for 30 years. In 2008 we moved to California to be close to our family (including our 2 grandsons). When they moved to Tennessee in 2013 we followed. We discovered the proximity and beauty of the Gulf Coast in 2014 and fell in love with the white sand and clear emerald waters of the Gulf. We became the owners of this condo in July 2015 and are excited to share it with others.
Why they chose this property
We LOVE Okaloosa Island and Fort Walton Beach; they're less crowded than both Pensacola Beach (about an hour West) and Destin (just 8 miles East.) Okaloosa Island and FWB are family-oriented, with lots of activities. It's a reasonably short distance to/from our home in TN. When we found Emerald Isle, we felt that it would be just right for us: not too big, plenty of comfortable amenities, but without the impersonal "resort" feel of some of the larger complexes. We love the idea of having a little "piece of "paradise" on the beach" for our family to enjoy as our grandchildren grow up.
What makes this property unique
Okaloosa Island is an unincorporated community on Santa Rosa Island, Okaloosa County, Florida. The island community uses Fort Walton Beach as a mailing address but is not actually part of that city. It is part of Florida's Emerald Coast and features spectacular sugar-white sand beaches.
The Island is bordered on the north by the Santa Rosa Sound Narrows (plus the cities of Fort Walton Beach & Mary Esther.) Choctawhatchee Bay & the city of Destin are our immediate neighbors to the Northeast & East. Our big beautiful "neighbors" to the south are the pristine white sand beaches and emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Enjoy water sports of all sorts in the area: swimming, boogie boarding, parasailing, snorkeling, & charter boat trips.
The 1262 ft long Okaloosa Island fishing pier is two miles “down the street” from the condo. The pier includes a shade structure, bait & tackle shop, pole rentals & restrooms. Since the pier has a commercial fishing license, you DO NOT need to buy a separate Florida fishing license to fish from it . You do have to pay a small fee as a part of admission if you want to fish. Rods, reels, and bait also are available.
NOTE: You do need a current Florida license (visitor/shoreline 3-day, 7-day, or annual pass) to fish from other places such as surf, sound, or freshwater. Visitors' licenses are available online or at local sporting good stores, bait shops, Walmart, & more.
Gulf Coast life is enjoyable year round. There are activities & adventures, festivals & fun every season of the year.
A Tom Thumb convenience store is only a 5 minute walk east on Santa Rosa Blvd. Open 6 am - 11 pm, it has lots of essentials like snacks, milk, bread, eggs, soft drinks, sandwiches, beer, frozen foods, fresh brewed coffee, fresh fruit, fishing tackle & bait, bulk ice, beach supplies, sundries, plus an ATM. Need more? Publix Grocery is just 2 1/2 miles across the Brooks Bridge. Downtown Fort Walton Beach has numerous shops, & restaurants.
